Give the iRobot Create complete autonomy. The Command Module contains an 8-bit, 18MHz microcontroller enabling full programmability of iRobot Create's motors, lights, sounds and sensor readings. Plugs into the robot's cargo bay connector for on-board control via programs you write in C. It has four DB-9 expansion ports for adding your own hardware.

For the price, the command module is well built, easy to program and quite powerful. The ATMega168 MCU averages 1MIPS per MHz of clock. The 18MHz command module is a small 18MIPS controller with lots of built-in devices (counter timers, A/Ds, discrete I/O, UART...) The main drawback is the 1024 bytes of SRAM. With this much power and versatility, more SRAM would be REALLY nice.
