Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I am a Condo owner and I recently purchased the Roomba 560 for the simple purpose of keeping my high traffic main room arguably clean. I was skeptical until the first week was over, which is when I realized I hadn't vacuumed by hand at all and didn't need to! My condo is about 1000 square feet, I have a child and pet and it still cleans very well. In fact I have taken to letting it clean all the floors in all the rooms and couldn't be happier! I do occasionally have to use my had operated vacuum, but on a regular basis Roomba does a phenomenal job. If you are having second thoughts about buying one I will tell you this, Roomba is the wave of the future - TODAY!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
It is amazing to me that a robot can do as well as it does! I'm so pleased with its cleaning power. When I'm cleaning the house and need the floors done I send Kilroy on his way! (Yeah that's his name, I was listening to "Mr. Roboto" the first time I used it and Kilroy stuck :)
I'm thinking about getting a Scooba because I'm so impressed with the job it does.
The brushes do need to be cleaned regularly or it will have a hard time picking up bigger things, but for the time it saves me in vacuuming, the maintenance is not a hassle.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The only thing it's lacking is a method of locating it once it gets stuck/full and is nowhere to be found. I tend to release our Roomba, Stanley, while I go out on errands, but when I come back, he's not in the charger, and I can't hear him anywhere, chances are he got something caught in his brushes... but I have trouble finding him. It would be nice to have a way of making him make a noise remotely. Perhaps a "locate" button on his dock or remote that would make him chirp on command, so I could go find him quicker and set him back to work.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This product cleans our appartment, about 100 m², in about 1.5 hours. Because of it's size and rather complex layout (2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 storage areas, living&dining area, kitchen, ...) it takes 2 cleaning cycles for the roomba to have cleaned the complete surface.
This machine is perfect for an appartment like ours: no bumps, no cliffs, ... It cleans effortless underneath the seats, and navigates the obstacles completley.
Two drawbacks:
* the cat is slightly bothered, but no more then with a normal vacuum cleaner. She hides on a chair...
* scheduling possibilities are limited to one cleaning run per day...

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love my Roomba so much that I bought 4 for my house and 2 for my office. I've told all my friends and family about it and try to convince them to buy one for themselves. Some have, some not! It's great to be busy at other work and come back and empty the bins and find more dust and dirt and HAIR than I've ever found with any of my prior vacume systems. It's even better than my central vac system which I thought topped them all!!! Next on my list is the floor washer. I 'm saving now and CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT!!! (Wish that IRobot would make me a beta site or tester!)

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I use "Suzie" to keep our floors clean. My fiance has a cat that sheds like it is going out of style. I swept before I set Suzie up and this morning we gave it the first run and I cannot believe how much dirt and hair it pickd up! It was amazing. Next time we are going to try the virtual walls for more concentrated cleaning. How we ended up getting an IRobot? I had originally wanted a small non shedding dog. One night I was web surfing and asked my fiance if we could get this dog. I showed him the IRobot and he thought it was absolutely amazing. We agreed to split the cost if I stopped asking for a dog! This is by far the best pet ever! My parents can't wait to see it in action!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I got this as a surprise Xmas gift. Heard all about it and finally own one. I used it almost everyday. Because my house is an open concept house, the virtual wall sensor helped alot. My 560 is so amazing, it go into every nook and under the bed, it sucks up very well. I am still having problem getting it to go back to the base by itself. I timed it, and with one full charge I get about 40 mins of cleaning. The roomba does goes from tile to carpet but be careful of rugs, some it has no problem going on and off but others, like the thicker kind might be too high for the roomba to get on. It is very easy to clean. I heard about the low life span of the battery, so most likely I might have to get extra battery. I think every mom should have one, the Roomba is such a great help.
Can anyone help me with getting the Roomba back to it's base by itself?
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The only bad thing is how embarrassing it is to see how much dirt you have been living with. I hate vacuuming and with 2 terriers going in and out of the house, I was losing ground. Now I run the Roomba in the morning while I sip coffee and it takes 2 minutes to clean it's container. Then I press his dock button and he runs back to recharge for the next day. I love this thing.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Bought a Roomba - 560 model.
We've a 1500 sq ft condo unit.Cleaning the hardwood floor was getting too cumbersome. My neighbor bought one to try it out and we were amazed by the fact that it was cleaning so well.
Now almost 5+ units bought this model#.
1) How to use it for effective operation -
Place the virtual walls such that it partitions your sweeping area evenly. This will take around 4-5 attempts before you can find an optimal position for your house.
2) Use it every other day. This way if Roomba misses a portion of the house in the first session, it will be picked up the next time.
3) Adjust your chairs/barstools etc so that Roomba can reach the corners.
Pros -
P1) Great on hardwood floors. Floors get cleaned really well. Just try it out once. You would be surprised. Worst case if you don't like it, you can return it. But trust me you won't return it.
P2) Un-entagles itself if it runs over wires. So I don't have to remove my floor lamps etc.
P3) You can remove all the wheels, bins etc and clean each one of them easily. Self-docking.
Cons -
C1) A little noisy. But since it's a vaccum you can't really get everything.
C2) Our area rug has black patches/patterns. When roomba starts to clean the area rug, it doesn't clean the black patches. This is primarily because it's light sensors(or whatever) get blocked. iRobot could place a small LED light and it could use it to detect that it's actually a transient blackout portion. But anyways.
C3) The (yellow)brush get's clogged with hair. If your unit has lot of hair(pet hair) etc then you would have to clean(remove the screws etc) the brush after every 2/3 sessions. iRobot should remove the screws on this brush and design it like the front wheel. This way we can just remove the brush and clean the hair.Or just design it more efficiently.
C4) Room to Room navigation isn't that robust. But it's ok.
Suggestion to iRobot -
Please add a LED light or something so that Roomba can clean dark carpets.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My robot (Roobee:) goes about her business of cleaning my entire first floor (all hardwood)at her regularly scheduled time each day. I empty the bin every other day or so and give her brushes a cleaning at the same time. I am completely amazed each and every time with the amount of debris this robot picks up! I have no children, no animals and a central vacuum system that appeared to do a great job. It's amazing and I've already told my husband that I would never be without an IRobot again. My own hair is long and falls onto my bathroom floor after blowdrying. Roobee picks this hair up without any problems and leaves my marble perfectly clean. Amazing technology, great customer service, sensational results! I can't recommend this robot to enough of my friends or anyone else for that matter.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This thing is really incredible, as an engineer I appreciate the computer program and multiple sensors involved. You can even program it to come on and do the floors late at night on selected days, he doesn't care about cords and heavy carpet fringe, automatically adjusts itself to any floor type, And goes back to his charging station and plugs himself in when he is getting low! Wife Loved getting it for Christmas. (Remember guys, Never get her anything with a Handle.......)

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I've been enjoying my 560 for 2 years. It's still doing what I hoped it would...keep my floors clean. I've had to do maintenance, but that goes for anything that works everyday. Replaced the battery 2 times, and replaced the sweeper brush module 3 times. Even with that, I can't imagine not having one of these wonderful machines in my home.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Five years ago I had a major back injury. I'm a single dad with a White on White on White interior (what was I thinking?), and a Persian cat. I restore Classic Cars and the house takes a beating for the sanding dust and other items tracked in. Without an iRobot my home became a pig pin, even friends mentioned it, Ouch.
I've owned a iRobot 1st, 3rd and now 5th Generation. I can say the 5th Gen is like night and day. My home is livable. My daughter sits on the floor again, mostly texting while pretending to do homework. Note: Chrismas Present to self - the iMOP.
Please give us a cost break on multiple iRobots - the lazy single male option.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My 550 picks up the pet hair from my two cats extreamly well. The biggest plus is cleaning under the beds. Draw backs would be that it is noisy and requires frequent cleaning.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have always liked to live in a cleaned and neat house. For the first time in my life a pet came to my life, and I love my Pug, he is an important member in my family, but he is constantly changing his hair. I don't regret to have my pet, but to be honest I got depressed looking at the floor and carpets full of dog's hairs. A friend recommended Roomba to me. My life has changed. Roomba keeps my house cleaned every day. My only concern is that when going to one of the bathrooms she doesn't work well, and always stops working on a burgundy/green/black rug we have.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I vacumed w/heavy duty upright then with my IRobot 560. Amazed how much more dirt it got up.
Love how it gets under furniture/beds. There is NOTHING that I DO NOT like about my IRobot. Will never go back to traditional sweepers.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Absolutely love the scheduler - floors get clean and stay that way, because I don't have to remember to vacuum, and can empty the bin later in the day when I have time. Only real problem is that it doesn't work well on my black/beige/burgundy Persian-style rug. The color differences must be too dramatic - it is constantly (as is every minute or two) asking to clean the cliff sensors. Works great on the other rugs and floors. Keeps the pet hair under control! Now, if I could just get it to vacuum the sofas where the dog sneaks a nap when we are away......

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My husband brought our little irobot home because he thought it would help in our daily cleaning routine. It does work quite well, but in our house with 3 kids and 2 dogs it gets filled up quickly. We have it set to clean every night while we are sleeping as it can be a little loud, but its downstairs so no one hears it. We have both hardwood floors, ceramic tile and rugs and this guy gets to it all. We are thinking on getting one for upstairs we are so pleased with this product, definitely worth the buy!!!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Empty Nesters. We love it. Alfred just cleans and minds his own business. We turn it on on Friday morning before we go to work and when we get home the floor is clean and Alfred is back in his station ready to go again. I go out on the back porch and empty the bin and clean the brushes and bushings (which takes all of 3 minutes). About once a month I blow it out with compressed air. We also purchased the Scooba, we named her Alfreda. Money well spent and unlike the kids were when they were home, Alfred does not backtalk or complain.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
WHAT'S GREAT:
I still have plaster dust settling after two years of new construction & I use the Roomba every couple of days to clean 3,000 sq.ft. of concrete floors. If I had to vacuum or mop I would give up and sell the house. Even though use requires cleaning of the machine, brushes, dust bin, and filters, cleaning these parts is a lot easier on my back then mopping and takes no where near the time vacuuming would.
I've had no problems with the battery per charge or longevity. I've had the Roomba for 18 months.
WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED:
I have white plaster walls right down to the concrete floor and the black bumper has left black scuff marks on my baseboard area. A scuff-proof clear bumper that would not leave any marks is a necessary improvement. I've decided to paint/epoxy a black baseboard around the entire house, which won't be easy but the wall might take a beating from feet, etc. anyway.
For simply cosmetic reasons I desire a more scratch proof housing as my Roomba encounters some unusual objects in my house.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I recommend this to anyone who has cats. I have 3 cats and the 560 series does an amazing job. I have mine run every second day so it gets a good charge I clean it after each use brushes, **Important** remove yellow bearings and dig in and get all the hair thats wrapped in there, wheels, and the bin. These robots are great for cleaning the cat hair anormal vacuum can't reach, dust bunnies under beds, dressers and furniture. It is crucial to clean the brushes daily or you can burn out the cleaning head module. A friend of mine didn't clean the hair out of the bearings (at the end of the brushes under the yellow removeable caps it wraps up and causes friction thats hard on the motor) and now needs a new cleaning head module $49.99 if not covered by warranty. I have cleaned mine thoroughly after cleanings and have had no problems just replace the filter every 3 months and regular cleaning after each use. I have had no problems with the side brush either just remove it and clean hair also. Maxx is doing such an amazing job I honestly do not sweep or vaccum ever just clean the him. I figure its the least I can do Maxx(560 roomba) is a lifesaver..truly a great investment I've had him for almost 2 years now and smile every time i get home and he's on the charger and the laminate floors are sparkling.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I've seen these similar vacuums in my visits to South Korea over the years and was so fascinated as in how this little robot cleans rooms so efficiently. I've always wanted to see it available here in the states and then I heard about iRobot.
So far, this is probably the best solution our family have for our busy schedule. Nobody likes to vacuum the house and certainly our kids don't want to. Plus with the amount of dirt, dust, and bugs that accumulates around our house, this little vacuum cleans it with no problem, especially at hard-to-reach spots and crevices. When it cleans hardwood floors and marble floors, it's a bonus as well. No scratches or marks from it and it cleans up all the dust nicely as well. The only problem I've encountered with this is that I would have to relocate it to have our rooms vacuumed. It also scuffs along the walls frequently and has scratch marks all over the front sensors but it easily cleans off so it's not that big of a deal. I definitely recommended it to our friends and they bought one as well and loved it!

I use my roomba in my 2000sq foot home that has a large dog. Roomba effectively cleans the dirt and hair covered floors of my home, as well as dust kingdoms forming under furniture I am too lazy to vacuum under. The only problem with the roomba is that it's very loud!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This is the best and most useful gadget I have ever purchased and based on how excellent it is at it's job I fully intend to purchase the Scooba too.
I leave for work in the morning and when I return Sonny the sweeping fairy has removed any debris from my carpet. The kind of debris I am referring to is the kind that a 10 month old just cannot resist picking up and tasting! It also does a fantastic job with cat fur (we have 4 cats 3 of which are long haired persians)and just about anything it encounters. It is not limited to just carpeted areas either and clears tile and linoleum too.
I guess my only complaint would be that Sonny hasn't yet figured out how to do the stairs!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This is the BEST invention since sliced bread!!! I can't believe how well Joey works. I charged him the first time for 16 hours. At first I did room by room, so I could empty the dirt out. Oh my goodness. I can't believe what this little guy picks up, especially under the bed. With the rotating brush on the side, I don't have to worry about the corners. Also, he goes from the living room to the kitchen just fine and cleans the tile floor.
I just love getting ready in the morning and putting Joey to work. When he's done, I have a clean house and I just love to see the "vacuum" lines!!!
I do believe that I need to clean the dirt out often, to keep him running at high performance. This vacuum was worth every little penny!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This little guy is my new best friend. He works so hard and reaches those places that I tend to only clean occasionally. It took a few cleanings to get my floors really clean. After that, it was just daily maintenance. Cleaning the bins and brushes became easier as my floors became cleaner. I always clean my roomba very well after each cleaing session, and he rewards me by cleaning my floors very well. If you expect the Roomba to do a good job for you, you will have to take the time to keep it clean. It is well worth the time that it takes to clean it.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Overall, this machine is great. It cleans well, gets close to walls and furniture. HOWEVER, I live on a single floor. The Roomba thinks that all dark objects are stairs. I have a two geometric area rugs. One has large brown blocks with other colors and the second has a combo of squares and circles which are brown, white and green. The Roomba will clean around the brown blocks but not the dark blocks. It gets confused with the circles and squares as it won't vacuum the brown ones. I also have another area rug that has a dark blue border. It won't cross over the border since it thinks it is a stair or drop off.
This feature cannot be shut off or reprogrammed. It cleaned under my bed, tables and hardwood floors great. Due to its limited capabilities with dark surfaces on the floors, I am returning Sadie to her makers. Please make the next Roomba with an override feature.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I program it go run while I am sleeping. It is nice to get up every morning to clean floors. It even goes over the throw rugs and that saves me from having to take them out and shake them all the time.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
"How rediculous" I thought when my daughter suggested buying it - was I wrong! Its so wonderful, the edging alone is worth buying one - I hated bending with the attachment all around the walls - now "he" does it for me - as well as everything else. I need to save for a scrubber one.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have two large husky dogs. This is so easy to use and I would have been skeptical about buying it for myself. My son gave it to me as a gift and it is wonderful to be able to press the button and come back later and the room is clean and fresh. I am now going to buy myself the one that mops and cleans. Don't hesitate if you get the chance to purchase this product. You will love it and will not be disappointed.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Just about the only problem I have is the dog asleep in front of the docking base. I have a 1960's style split level home. Stanley is in the lower level where most activity occurs (one bedroom/bath/family room). I take him upstairs once or twice a week to do the rest of the house. Considering another unit to keep on the upper level which has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Cleans under beds and some other furniture that was difficult to clean with vacuum.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
It's great to come home to floors that aren't "crunchy" when I walk on them. We have 9 childen, a long-haired dog, 1 cat, and a parakeet, but no longer have to assign sweeping to the chore chart. I laugh when I think about how often we dragged out the old upright vac.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My iROBOT IS SET TO START AT 8:00A.M.every day. It move's from carpet to tile to hardwood.Under bed's, around furniture with no problems.I had my carpets clened before I got my iRobot560. After the first time I used the cleaner I pulled out the dirt bin. I saved it to show my husband so when he got home from work I could show him how full the bin was. We were both amazed how much dirt it had cleaned up. I though my house was clean. But after useing this iRobot I realise that my top of the line vacuum cleaner was not doing any more than picking up just the dirt on the top surface. The Irobot cleans untill all the dirt is gone. Also I have a back problem and every time I vacummed I would have to take a pain pill. Now I no longer have to vacumm nor due I have the pain every day I use to suffer from cleaning. I would highly recommed this cleaner. It's the best !!!!!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We bought our 500-series Roomba in January. We have two dogs, both shedders. "Dobby" (the House Elf) is great at picking up dog hair, crumbs, etc. We also recently had bamboo floors installed downstairs, and he's great on those. Our Roomba, however, has already had the brush casing replaced (under warranty, excellent service) twice since January, and the gear housing still gets hair stuck in it so the big brush won't turn. We clean the roomba after every use, but the housing itself cannot be cleaned. This time we have been advised to send the whole thing back for iRobot to check it out.I'm hoping this can be worked out, because I love my Roomba.......
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I check my email and do computer work each morning while Roomba vacuums the house. It is the best background music I have ever had! Just a nice start to the day. I had a problem 3 months after purchase and found the customer service department excellent. They replaced a part in 2 days and were very easy to understand as we did a little troubleshooting over the phone. If I had a nickel for every Roomba plug I have made...

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We've had our Roomba about a month and love it! Decided to try it because we have a German Shepherd that we love dearly, but that sheds PROFUSELY! On first running we thought, "Uh-oh, this can't cope with the dog hair." But we ran it every day and after 3 or so days, it had the hair under control. I believe part of the problem is that one of our area rugs is of a material that doesn't want to let go of the hair. We have continued to run it just about every day and are very pleased. It keeps the floors looking very acceptable. I'm no longer embarrassed when people show up unannounced because the dark blue carpet looks like a snowstorm went through the house because of dog hair. We have hardwood floors with area rugs and lots of fringes and it has no trouble navigating on and off the rugs. It sometimes drops a little dirt when it goes up onto the very thick rug, but it's a small price to pay for the rest of the floor being clean. Love that it gets under all but the very lowest pieces of furniture. Gretchen (aforementioned German Shepherd) is a big wuss, but has no problem with it. She just keeps an eye on it and moves away from it. I've read some reviews that said the Roomba was loud. Well, not compared to any "real" vacuum I've ever heard. It makes a whirring sound and that's about it. We often start it before we go to bed and fall asleep while it's cleaning three rooms. I also haven't had a problem getting parts like some reviews mentioned. I decided to order spare brushes and an additional lighthouse/virtual wall and had them within about a week of ordering them. Some people also complained that it's hard to clean. Please! It takes all of maybe two minutes to empty the bin and clean the brushes--and most people aren't gonig to have to contend with the amount of dog hair we do. The biggest problem we've had with it so far is wasting time standing around watching it do its thing! I won't get rid of my upright vacuum, but I think the Roomba is the best money I've spent in a while.

I'm kind of a gadget guy, and the fact that our oldest son and daughter-in-law just purchased a Roomba....meant that I had to get one. I purchased a 560 and expected to catch a ration of grief about it ("you old coot, now what did you buy ?").
We fired it up and the minute she saw how well that it worked and that it went right to work under all of our sofas, love seats, beds, she was sold. These are the places The Dyson never goes.
The next morning, the wife said she though that we should buy another as it would be a great gift for her 83 year old mother.

I have severe back problems and running a regular type vacuum cleaner was so hard for me to do. My neighbor suggested iRobot Roomba and even showed me how it works in her home. I was sold! I went out the next day and bought it and now it's part of the fam. It is on a schedule 3x a week and I am worry free about my home looking neat and clean all the time.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My husband saw a Roomba at a friend's house. I was skeptical but he was sold on it. I LOVE this machine! We looked at reviews and saw very few negative comments. Loud? Well, it IS a vacuum cleaner. It is less noisy than my conventional vacuum. Gets stuck? Yeah, there are a couple places where it can get stuck, like under the back of my rocker recliner. I just move the floor lamp 6 inches to behind my chair when the vacuum is going to run. Not a big deal. We have wood and tile floors and two big hairy dogs. I program the roomba to clean every morning and there is little to no hair on the floor. Cleaning the roomba is a snap, much less time than vacuuming as often as I would have to, to keep the floor so nice. I use the lighthouses to keep the roomba in the living/kitchen area, where most of the hair and dirt collects. Every few days I pick it up and set it in another part of the house. This is a great product!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have 3 long haired cats who I adore but....their hair is everywhere! We have hardwood and tile floors and area rugs. I was skeptical about the Roomba being able to handle all of the hair, especially on the area rugs, but it gets the job done. It even cleared out the hair under the bed which hasn't been swept in probably over a month...(woops.) You definitely do have to perform daily maintenance of cleaning the brushes but that only takes about 5 minutes. I'd rather spend 5 minutes cleaning brushes than 30 minutes vacuuming up cat hair. Another thing i love....when I get home from work there are no cat hair tumbleweeds rolling across my floors! I'm thinking of buying a second Roomba for our finished basement. I definitely think it's money well spent.
I wouldn't say that it totally replaces regular vacuuming but it helps cut back on how much vacuuming you have to do, which is why I bought it. Do not buy this product if you are not going to spend the time cleaning out the brushes after each use or you will not be happy.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I wanted to name Roomba Rosie, but my husband insisted on r2d2, so be it. I love clean floors but I hate to vacuum. Go figure. This machine does for me what I will not do for myself. It is scheduled for daily cleaning and the first few days required several cleanings during it's cycle, now I only clean it twice, once 1/2 way through, if it needs it or not, and at the end, clean and ready for tomorrow.
It shows, in the video that is cleans along walls, but what it does not show is how it cleans under chairs. It encircles the leg of the chair and comes out the side/front/back. Under chair areas are cleaned thoroughly!
It has lost its way and circled from time to time, but that seems to be the fault of dust on the stairway warning sensors, mostly after it has cleaned the rug. I simply wipe off the dust from the sensors and it's back to work!
I hope it lasts for years, as I am considering getting a lesser one for upstairs. One room per day should be enough, since we have only two bedrooms, a junk room, a hallway and bathroom up there.

My roomba's home base is under my bed and works great but... approximately 2ft all the way around the base it wont clean it avoids the area. its more of a complaint about the recharge base. Other than that its great because i keep forgetting to vacuum after work and this does a much better job then i could.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I just bought a refurbished iRobot Roomba 560 robotic vacuum and immediately set it to work. I named her Ruby. I was very impressed with the cleaning capability and intelligence of Ruby. She was not only efficient and thorough in picking up dust and small debris, she seemed to have a mind of her own. Her side brushes made sure that the edges and hard to reach corners were well cleaned. She was flat enough to vacuum under my bed and furniture and had no problems maneuvering under my dining table with all chairs in place. Battery life was excellent and Ruby was able to work continuously for around 1.5 hours, effectively cleaning around 60 sqm on a single charge. And when the battery is low, she automatically homes in on her charging base for a recharge. A full recharge takes less than 3 hours. After Ruby cleaned my floor for the very first time, my wife and I remarked that our floor has never been this clean.
Ruby has an onboard scheduler which I can schedule the cleaning 7 days a week at any time of the day. Ruby came with 2 lighthouse modules which serve as a virtual wall - an invisible wall to restrict access, and a lighthouse - to ensure thorough cleaning is done on a particular area before moving on to other areas. She has cliff sensors to avoid steps but this did not work too well for my apartment. I suspect this is because the steps in my apartment are not deep enough for the sensor to work well. Nevertheless, the virtual wall can be used to prevent accidental access. Ruby is also able to clean carpets well without getting entangled. Best thing is removing of dust and debris is very easily done and intuitive. Cleaning of components such as the brushes and wheels are very easy. Kudos to the designers of this product.
All in all, an excellent product that is worth the money. I hope Ruby lasts long enough. Only time will tell. The Roomba is highly recommended especially for busy people and dusty houses.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I live in a large farmhouse and so far, I can clean all of the large open rooms downstairs on 2 or 3 charges which is just fine for me. If I am home, I can clean everything in 1 day.
* Please put removable ends on the rubber beater bar (as on the brush bar). Hair etc. wraps around and it takes a knife and tweezers to get at all of it.
* Found the brush roller very easy to clean. Really doesn't need the removable ends or the tool. Just pick the hairs off by hand.
* DUST, DUST, DUST is the biggest con. I clean the robot more frequently than recommended because there is always dust on all the plastic parts underneath and the filter gets dirty quickly. I use an old toothbrush to clean the filter and the plastic, but outside as the dust flies everywhere. Needs a much more effective dust collector or even multiple collectors. I find that there is always dust on the beater bar and the brush bar and all the other plastic and with the static electricity, it doesn't shake off the plastic, you have to brush it off.
* Gets stuck on the metal floor vents. I just cover these with a small box of something and the robot bumps right around the box.
* I have rugs on hardwood floors that have pads underneath and the robot has trouble moving up from the hardwood onto the rug. Going down is no problem.
* No problems at all going from hardwood to carpet and vice versa.
* Robot could do better with rug fringe. I cleaned a lot from the debris bin and beater bar and so now I just roll the ends of my vintage rugs under to protect the fringe from being eaten.
* Sometimes the DOCK bar doesn't work and I need to press twice.
* Virtual walls work nice for blocking a small entry way, but when I tried to use 2 together set at max distance to block a wide space (~16'), they didn't work all that well. I found that putting down the connected metal tubes from my old tank vacuum worked as effectively as the virtual wall for blocking the smaller entryways. I had to purchase "C" batteries especially for the virtual walls (and I purchased rechargeables and hence needed a charging unit as well). I suggest using AA batteries if possible as everyone already has tons of these available for all of today's electronics, remotes etc. I actually don't use the virtual walls.
* Virtual Walls need an on/off switch so that if you didn't want to use one (the 560 comes with 2) you would not have to unload the batteries to inactivate the unit.
* WISH LIST: I have 5" high molding at the bottom of my walls and it would be great to have a retractable arm that would lift up when the robot encounters a wall and brush down the dust from the molding. This arm would have to retract back into the unit when finished so that it could scoot under the furniture. Of course, the search pattern would have to be changed to have the robot travel the length of the wall (as much as possible.)
* All in all, I really am glad that I purchased my robot. My house is much cleaner now than it has ever been and a bonus is that I am forced to pick up the floor so that the robot can clean effectively. Thanks for a great product!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love this Robot.....we have 10 cats in our apartment;-)
It´s a nightmare when it has some faulty part and needs to go to maintenance.
This 560 is with us for 1 year and it was out to maintenance twice a 3 months maintenance in total. So from 12 months we have used it only 9 months.
Last maintenance, they sent us a new one, but with a battery completely empty, no charge at all (This is the worst you can do to a NIMH battery). This battery is dead now, it just gives the robot a 15-20 minutes power.
I had to pay for a new one.:-(

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I use the pre-program function to get Sadie going when I'm at work. I come home and find thoroughtly cleaned and designed (Roomba tracks) floors, both carpet and linoleum) and Sadie nested back in her docking station where she started. I use the virtual wall/lighthouses to either keep her confined or progress her to the next room(s). I love the edge feature, but recently Sadie lost one of her appendages so am buying the 3-pack to keep on hand. This machine is reliable and thorough and easily cleanable. The intonations that are built into her are amusing. I'm very glad I purchased this following a conversation with a friend (who ended up purchasing something else and now wishes she'd bought her own Roomba).

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We first saw the iRoomba in action at a friend's house, and immediately wanted one. From the first day we opened the box and turned it on -- we were quite impressed! Since then, I have told my co-workers and friends about how effective and easy it is. My mother in-law commented, "just think, we used to push one of these corded-things around the room, now the idea of it seems so silly!" Yes, it is a bit noisy and it does have trouble with table legs, plant stands and dark furniture, but the fact is it consistently cleans floor surfaces better than we do and keeps the dust and dirt down - as well as preventing those accumulating "dust bunnies" from reproducing! I never thought I'd be excited about a robotic vacuum cleaner.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This is a fantastic machine! We live in a large house with many wood floors also populated by two cats. Problem? Yes. Solution? Roomba. We are extremely well pleased. We hope Durwood is here for the long haul. Our only suggestion: when Durwood docks and does the Roomba rumba to recharge, sometimes the dock slides and docking fails. If the back of the station were flat instead of curved (a small plastic fix) it would stay tight against a wall and not rock back and
forth as Durwood cozies in for a refuel.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We purchased one for our Mother on her Birthday. Our floor plan is what you may describe as 70s chic', meaning it has several drop offs to a sunken living room, wide rooms connected by narrow halls, and a large U-shaped design. Having studied Computer Engineering, I was skeptical, knowing all the things that could go wrong. So far it has preformed like a dream, navigating under furniture and around chairs with ease. It has yet to fall off any ledge and only got stuck once on the raised A/C vent. To put it plainly, it has as zealous programming that while not as efficient as a person, is extremely effective.
While it's not perfect, and what is, Roomba has pleased her to no end. She's quickly adapted to it's needs, and lets Roomba go everywhere. The result is a cleaner house with less clutter. She's a bit of a clean freak, so to say that the Roomba is satisfactory to her is understanding things.
Currently she lets Roomba do its thing daily, moving it from floor to floor until she buys herself "an army of robots." On the weekends, she lets Roomba do one floor while she does another and the stairs, saving her time for her other favorite hobby, cooking.
If you are willing to adjust to the technology, such as removing floor clutter and preforming more frequent maintenance than a normal vacuum cleaner, I can't think of a reason not to own one of the little guys.

Not really sure if I like or dislike the Roomba...I loved it when I fist got it and cleaning it was a breeze you could see the diffrence in every room it went in! Now my Roomba always blinks that somethings wrong all the time and I clean it and put it back together and it will work again but soon later it stops...its a graet product maybe just to sensitve and the replacment parts are to much money you pay enough for the product cut some slack on the parts.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I got a Roomba 560 as a Christmas present in December 2007. For the first 6 months, I loved it--I have several cats and a hairy dog, and even running it 3 times a week was enough to keep the dirt, hair and kitty litter under control. Then I started getting repeated instructions for cleaning the brushes. I changed the brushes entirely, which worked for a few weeks then it started not picking up dirt at all. After a frustrating experience with online support (no effective response) and then an even more frustrating experience on the phone (I could barely hear or understand the person on the other end), I finally got them to ship me a new cleaning head module, which was surprisingly easy to install.
It worked like new for awhile, but a couple of months ago it stopped picking up dirt entirely again. I suspect I need another cleaning head module, which I will now have to pay $50 for since it is beyond warranty. I would upgrade to a pet cleaning model, except I am afraid that I will run into the same problems after spending $400 for it. I would really like my automatic vacuum back--I really, really like the time it saves me while keeping my house reasonably clean (I understand that I need to do areas it can't reach, that's OK), but I am very frustrated by it's unreliability. I used to recommend it all the time--now I don't feel comfortable doing so.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My family uses it to clean up the fur from our cats and dogs, as well as keep dirt down in the entrance/kithcen.
The only bad things are: 1. It gets stuck when skirting under the cabinets in the kitchen (the little knob in the very front prevents it from getting under most of our furniture) 2. I can't find any easy way to hack it, despite my hopes of having a mobile robot platform for trying my programing skills on, and 3. It doesn't seem to like rugs: the anti-tangle system works most of the time, but it still ends up bunching up the lightest rugs and dragging them around, to the great entertainment of our young dog.
Otherwise it seems to work beautifully, and it has no problems filling up its bin (might be nice to have an option to use a bag to prevent dust from flying when emptying), is fairly quite, and doesn't unduly disturb the animals, though the cats aren't sure about it yet and the dogs don't like being run into while it is doing the kitchen.
The user interface is easy to use, and it is easy to clean.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Love my Roomba. I had it about 6 months. I have it programmed 2 run every other day. Have to remember 2 clean it after each use. I get a lot of hair wrapped around brushes & have 2 clean each time but it is worth it. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 5 birds and it sure helps me keep up with all their mess. I "spot" clean with it under the bird cages every evening to clean up seed. I replaced side cleaning brushes twice & just had 2 order more. They break off pretty easy. Lately R2D2 seems 2 get confused, runs around in same circle, maybe battery going? cant live without it!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
It surprised us how well works. We have 2 dogs and 1 cat and amount of hair this thing picks up is just amazing. Perhaps it is because it cleans MORE OFTEN that it keeps [...]! Anyway, it's worth it; we like the 560 because it can be programmed to go when we are away. Does not always find "homebase", but gets the job done.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I don't know why I didn't have one of these sooner. This is probably the best gadget I own. It cleans my hardwood floors much better than I would do myself, especially since it goes under furniture. My area rugs have never looked so good. I am always amazed that even though I run it every day Mable still finds dirt. I can walk bare foot on my floors and not have anything on the bottom of my feet. I have told everyone I know about this time saver. I am considering buying another for our downstairs.(maybe roomba should run a promotion for owners wanting a 2nd or 3rd one) As far as the noise goes Mable is not as noisy as my Hoover and really saves my back. I like being able to program it to come on so that it cleans even if I am not home. I could go on and on about Mable because I do love it!!! This will probably be a good Christmas present for my adult children and if you watch you can get them at a good price

I was worried that Eva my roomba wouldnt be able to cross betweenthe kitchen and the living room due to a slight raise in the floor but she had no problem. She is worth every dollar....
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We've really enjoyed our Roomba so far. We have a dog that sheds a BUNCH and it seems to handle it ok. We haven't had it get stuck, it seems to be pretty smart. Because we have a pet with lots of hair, we have to clean it out a lot... but I think we expected that, so it's really not a huge drawback to be honest. The reason for the 4 stars is because it's not like I'll never have to pick-up a vacuum again. While it keeps up with good, regular maintenance, I still have to bring out my big one about once a month. But, it does get under our furniture which to me, it s a HUGE plus for lots of reasons, but mostly because a lot of people are allergic to our dog and having the Roomba get under things helps keep allergens down.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I am somewhat unhappy with this model. I previously owned a Scheduler and it had a larger bin and collected pet hair much more efficiently. The 560 has teeth in the bin that hampers the ability of the pet hair to go into the bin, collecting on the "teeth" instead. If this had been my first Roomba I would not have bought a second one. I will now look into servicing my Scheduler and put it back to work.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My Rosie is programed to run every afternoon, to have a clean a floor when I get home from work in the evening! I love her. Pet hair never flying around on the hardwood floors any longer!
She does get tangled up on the kitchen throw rug, so we have to make sure we pick them up each day which is a pain, but so worth it to come home each day to clean floors!
We even carry her upstairs do clean the carpet in the bedrooms. It doesn't get as clean as a traditional vacuum, but still is really nice to not have to do it myself!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Have had a Rommba 550 for only 4 days, but so far so good. Amazed on how much dust, hair and debris it actually picks up, even after the house being vacuumed the day before purchase. Dogs don't seem to mind it either, but we placed treats on it so they would have a positive association with it. When it was running we also gave the dogs treats so they would continue their positive association. No issues as of yet. Have been vacuuming out (ironic) dust bin/brushes to keep it functioning properly. To be continued....
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We have a 4000 sq ft home all cork flooring. If it wasn't for my gobot there are not enough hours in the day to keep it clean of pet hair, kid crumbs and bird feathers. It is scheduled to run every night at midnight. Cleans the main living area while I sleep. During the day I turn it loose in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Love it! Saving up for the scooba!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I use the robot to clean my house 4 to 5 times a week. It does a good job with dirt but not so good with pet hairs. I have to remove the pet hairs from the brush at least 2 or three times during each operation. When it was still new, the noise was very good, but after a year the noise got louder. The side brush keeps breaking its fingers one at a time. after a couple months all the fingers were gone. I have to change the side brush once every couple of months. Now I cut down the cleaning time to only twice a week instead of 4 to 5 times a week, since the side brushes break very often and they are expensive to replace. [$] i have to keep replacing them once every couple of months, the cost adds up
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I wasn't sure how well this roomba would work out, so I borrowed my sister's roomba first. It seemed to get the carpets clean, as in no bits and pieces of paper, and all else on floor after it was done. So I bought one for myself. I still wasn't sure it did deep cleaning. I was more impressed when after running Bertha, and then running my upright with the dirt sensor, and almost immediatly, showing that the carpet was clean. I guess now I can take the upright upstairs and leave it there, and use roomba downstairs. I do have two dogs, and the hair from the golden retriever gets wound around the brushes, and need to be cleaned out almost every time it runs. But doing that is easier then getting out the upright. I am tempted to shave the dog. But I am very happy with it. I would not bother vacuuming everyday with out Bertha. And clean carpets do last longer.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I use our robot mostly in the living room, but occasionally in the master bedroom and kitchen/hallways. The unit literally does its own thing. starts, works, and returns home to charge with no assistance needed. There has been a couple of times the unit became stuck under the bed, but the rest of the times it does its job and comes back out. We have had this unit for 15 months. We have it set to vacuum every Sunday @ 8pm. We absolutely love our robot and thinking about getting a scooba for the tile floor. I've heard some of the cons listed and I disagree with most of them. I would and have recommended this unit to family and friends. Many of them who have witnessed the unit at work compliment it, we can easily visit and even watch TV. The robot works great without disturbing noises compared to regular vacuum cleaners, we can even talk on the phone with the unit working around us. We have a small dog, and he was first scared of the unit, but quickly got used to it. All we can say is good things about our robot. I guess the only complaint we can come up with is, it can't pick up toys, magazines, newspapers, and shoes before it starts doing its job.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Great product - finds all of the dog hair that we usually miss. Dogs barked at it the first time, but have ignored it since. Dark carpet was a problem until I covered up the cliff sensors with paper and tape. Just be sure to keep the door closed or use a lighthouse keep your little buddy from flying down the stairs. It's cool to come home and find the robot sitting at it's dock, the only indication that it ran is a full dust bin of dog hair! It handles the hardwood/carpet/tile transitions without a problem and cleans better than I expected. Bye bye upright vacuum!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Two Roomba 560s, one at home and one at college. The one at college we've had for over a year, and are quite fond of it - however, it will get stuck on our new apartment's doorjambs and under an [...] table we have. I find it really annoying that the front clearance of the unit is good enough to make a 1/2-3/4" climb, but the cliff detect sensors are calibrated to less than that (so the unit can get stuck). Also, be prepared to have to wet-sand and buff out the IR proximity sensor cover on the front of the unit - if it starts acting erratically in the middle of a clear floor this may be the cause. The second 560, recently purchased for the home, actually came with a Lighthouse that was dead-on-arrival, and has been used for carpet and dealing with cat fur quite effectively.I'm glad the 560 is better sealed - we previously killed a refurbished Discovery Scheduler at our college apartment due to dust and other grime getting into the electronics (four engineers taking it apart and putting it back together cleanly couldn't solve the problem!), so the modular, well-thought-out design is a huge plus. If the front IR sensor was just a bit more sturdy, and the cliff sensors better designed, this would be a much better product.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
What noise? My dishwasher is louder.
Perefectly acceptable level.
This is a great product!
Wish it would do windows though.
You need to keep an eye on it the first couple times to see what hazards it encounters and try to eliminate or work around them.
It kinda spreads/blows bird feathers around so you may need avoid that area when your bird is molting.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I've had the Roomba for a few months now and I love it! We have one dog and it picks up the pet hair great. I'm always amazed at how much dirt it picks up. I run it every 2-3 days in each room.
While it's not as noisy as a regular vacuum, I don't really want to be in the room when it's running. Frequently I'll start it when I leave for work or run it in a different part of the house.
If you don't like to vacuum, but want to help your carpets last, this is the product for you.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
It is much better than the earlier model I had for two plus years. This unit picked up some ribbon left behind by my daughter over the holidays, this caused the brush motor to burn out. Irobot sent me a new one at no charge. Their response was very quick.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Have two Basset Hounds Baxter and Bailey. You would be amazed at what the Roomba picks up. I dump them every three days and clean filters. Have carpet, hardwood, tile, and concrete. Let the cleaning lady clean then run the Roomba it made a believer in her. She vacuums and cleans very well, but the Roomba picked up dirt after her. You can vacuum the garage floor and put the Roomba out there and still gets dirt. I am done chasing dirt. I have turned that job over to the Roomba.

The 560 is an awesome product, and your best bang for the buck!!! I was skeptical, but it truly is great and the more it's used the less debris I'm having to dump out!!! My home looks spotless and we all can breathe better. The 560 is scheduled to clean everyday and never has a problem with getting stuck. We have 2 cockatiels and it cleans up all the seed and what nots. It cleans the Living Room, Kitchen, Dining Room, and one Bedroom on a single charge and always returns to the charging station. We have no complaints and cleaning out the brush and hair from the ends is no big deal, it is annoying but it beats having to vacuum myself. Clean it everytime and it'll last!!! Buy this product....NO DISAPOINTMENTS!!!! I couldn't be happier with the purchase of this product!!!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We have an uneven ceramic tile floor with fairly wide grout/mortar lines and the Roomba handles that well. It gets stuck or lost about 80% of the time it cleans, so part of the afternoon activity is to find the lost robot. This does provide a few minutes of entertainment for our 3 year old with a flashlight. :-)Where it cleans it does a pretty good job and for it to clean for about 1-1.5 hours means about 5-10 minutes of changing and cleaning the Roomba, brushes, bins and bristles, with more involved cleaning (~20 minutes) every couple of weeks. It is really more of a sweeper than a vacuum. It seems to vacuum on smooth floors as there is just not enough power for much more than lightly sweeping carpet. It does do a great job of picking up people and pet hair, whether it ends up in the bins or wrapped around the brushes to be picked/removed manually, it is certainly not on the floor anymore. The brush cleaner shipped with the unit is not very useful, IMHO. I use a stainless steel pet/animal comb for cleaning the brushes. It works MUCH better when cleaning the hair/strings/fuzz from the bristles mostly because you can clean from the direction where you have better access to the bristles. I am not sure when the supplied brush would be useful. So far it hasn’t been…The Roomba is not a fan of dense carpet at all and in the living room we have an area rug about 10’ x 12’ that gives it fits. There is too much friction for the Roomba to navigate when it gets on the rug so it wastes a lot of time and battery charge thrashing start/stop/start/stop/turn/turn/start/stop about on the margins of the rug. This rug is in the middle of the room and so it would take at least three or four lighthouse/wall units to attempt to create a barricade for it to avoid the rug entirely. It is not a deep pile rug in any way, but the rubber pads on the bottom of the Roomba case near the battery seem to be acting like a brake. (maybe by design?) Anyway we have another rug that is a short shag that does not bother the robot nearly so much. It does drag the motor down and so drain the battery much more quickly. It dies on that rug, under the bed pretty fast if it hits the legs very often getting back out. Putting down a UV visible line on the floor to keep it away from similar obstacles seems like a better plan than buying 7 or 8 lighthouses that end up costing more than the Roomba..The Roomba really does not like our floor receptacle and gets high centered rather often if there are cords using the outlet. I will try re-wiring our lamp cords to use low profile plugs to see if that helps. Under the furniture, taping down the electric cords and phone cords with clear packaging tape keeps the Roomba from getting tangled up and doesn’t tie up another lighthouse on permanent duty. The ability to clean under furniture is great and probably my favorite feature, though it does get lost under beds quite frequently. The navigation and obstacle avoidance algorithm seems too simplistic and not very adaptable. If there are chairs or tables where two legs are spaced too closely for the robot to enter/exit, but two legs are not, they become frequent Roomba nets and trap the poor fellow.Navigation also has issues with obstacle of certain shapes where it will give up too soon and miss the exits by repeating the exact same pattern of behavior. It seems to need a few more navigation options when running into obstacles. The battery pack should be a quick change design so that when we find the lost robot we can swap batteries and send it on its way again instead of waiting 3 more hours. Removing the base plate and changing batteries when we have no way to recharge them outside of the Robot is a poor design. You also must then reset the clock and reprogram all of the schedules. It is very loud when operating.I agree that in the beginning it saves no time at all because watching it navigate and clean the house is so much fun. :-) That is good for a few hours of enjoyment the first week. The 6-arm brush for cleaning corners is very fragile and our first one began losing arms the first couple of days (ours came packaged sort of wadded up and rubber/vinyl fatigue was probably worse). The replacement parts are fairly expensive and last only a few weeks. Costs are about 3X what our other vacuums run as far as consumables go after about 2 months of use.The return to dock feature only works in some cases. Many times it does not work when you have to pick up the robot to remove the tissue, cloth or errant toy from the brushes. It also has what appears to be a software bug where it can be sitting directly in front of the dock and if you push the Dock button it will spin around in a circle looking for the dock (that it can obviously see) and never dock. If you plug it in directly to the power supply for a couple of seconds or manually place it in the dock until the lights flash/fade, and then attempt again it will work fine most of the time. If not, then removing the base plate and the battery for a minute or so will restore it to normal docking behavior. You also must then reset the clock and reprogram all of the schedules again.[...] They also told me I should be turning off all my fluorescent lights in the rooms when Roomba was nearby because they might confuse the sensors, and that all of their recommendations for things they suggested were online. (which I could not find in searches and they could not provide any links to.)Overall, if you have tile, linoleum, hardwood, etc… and few obstacles as well as plenty of the lighthouse modules to help it find its way back home, it works well and can be a very good if rather expensive timesaver. If you have a single room like this, then it will probably do an excellent job. The more complex the environment, the more trouble we seem to experience.I would recommend this unit but only with lots and lots of reservations.

It is great, just to put it down in a room, set the area to be cleaned and forget it. We are amazed and delighted at the amount of dirt that it picks up. It is hard for me to believe, when I see it going around the island in my kitchen. It comes to the corner and makes the turn and keeps going.

This was may Christmas present as I'm the vacuum man. I like that it relieves me of the upright vacuum but have found that it's eating the corners of my wife's oriental rugs on our hardwood floors...not making us happy. I've had to place obstacles there so it will avoid the corners. It also, sometimes, doesn't seem to know where to go with the lighhouse. It will clean a room, go by the lighthouse and then, after cleaning the next room go back to the one it already finished rather than continuing on to the next room. Over all I'm happy, but it would be a lot better product if it had a longer working time and, after recharging before finishing a room, it could remember where to go next rather than just beginning all over again. Because it wants to eat the rugs it only gets 3 stars.

The Roomba ranks up there with the microwave and centeral heat and A/C in my book as one of the best inventions of the 20th century. I have a dog and multiple cats so a lot of dirt gets tracked in the house and I really don't like to vaccume. A friend purchased a Roomba back in December, I purchased on on his recommendation a few weeks later. One of my neighbors borrowed mine for an afternoon to test it out and she ended up buying one. How did we ever live without this thing? One extra bonus is that not only are the floors cleaner but I also have to dust less. It doesn't get much better!

Max is amazing he cleans the floors real good! It's unbelieveable how much dirt and hair is on the filter and in the bin everyday! My floors are always clean and the best part is he does it before I get home from work! All I have to do is clean the brushes and the filter. The only problem I face is that I have two dark burgandy and black surface rugs he will not go on them he thinks they are a cliff and avoids them altogether. The filters last a long time and can be cleaned by running water through them and then thuroughly dried before being put back in. My cats love to spy on him and it's like he's part of the family!

I love my Roomba! Got it for my birthday in December, and it has run every day (maybe more than once a day if I bring it upstairs) since. It is so nice to come in from work and see the floors clean. It does a great job, however I think of it as more of a sweeper than a deep cleaning vacuum. We have a Bernese Mountain Dog (which sheds mightily) and a silky terrier (which doesn't shed) and the hair and dirt were EVERYWHERE in my house before I got Mildred. There is a marked improvement in the level of pet hair and dirt on the floors since she has been making the daily rounds. And boy can I tell if she stopped because her brushes were dirty, or got stuck somewhere. Maybe I'll buy a pet version and move this one upstairs. I've got my eye on a Scooba too! I recommend them to anyone who will listen! Thanks for a great product.

Roomie runs like a champ. I can (safely) say I bought a vacuum for my wife for her birthday. She loves it. Of course I expect really shiny things for my birthday but oh well. She loves Roomie (her name for it). I brought it home after doing some web research and realizing these guys also build some of the military robots I used in my job in Iraq. They respond to what we needed. I figured if what I used in Iraq is the same they made into the home models as well then what the heck. The pros for Roomie is it will find things you did not realize are on your floor (dirt, string,DOG HAIR) really no kidding. Dog hair is a killer for any dog owner. Buy a Roomba now if you are a dog owner.
CONS: Roomie does not like messy people. My 6 yr old daughter is learning to pick up after herself by way of clothes on the floor. (not really a con I guess). The fine hairs and other things like to wrap themselves around Roomies brush wheels. I have found to use a drill bit to extract the rolled hair from the wheels(by hand of course).

We use Robbie at least five times a week and sometimes on Saturdays too.
What a joy after taking down Christmas to let Robbie vacuum up all those green tree needles!
Our daughter was skeptical at first and now she uses Robbie in her room too! Great little helper for the working woman.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The bottom line is: This product is more convenient than a traditional vacuum and cleans just as well.
The reality of owning/operating an Roomba: It may take several sessions before you figure out where to place the Virtual Walls/Lighthouses. Using too many Lighthouses caused my Roomba to remain in each room too long, which resulted in the battery dying before it finished. I repositioned/removed the Lighthouses and now my Roomba does just fine. Like I said, it took several sessions to fine tune it.
I also had to use double-sided tape to secure my small area rugs - Roomba would cause the corners to bunch up and it couldn't vacuum the rug completely.
Maintenance: Emptying the bin is super easy. I clean the brushes after each session which is more than iRobot recommends. I do it just to avoid any problems - it's quick and easy.
Now that I figured out the nuances, I love it. I was impressed enough that I bought a 400 model for my 2nd floor. I recommend getting a hand-vacuum to handle spot-cleaning and for getting to the places Roomba can't (which isn't many). I ready to get rid of my traditional stand-up vacuum.

This robot is amazing! I was reluctant to purchase one, but my boyfriend wanted it for christmas. Best purchase ever! We run "Rosie" everyday, we have a German Shorthair Pointer and a Boston Terrier that run the house. We use it mostly in our kitchen, living room, and down our hallway which are wood floors. Does a GREAT job. The only downside, we have WHITE base board floor trim that the robot is leaving nasty black marks all over, I am going to have to re-paint AGAIN. Otherwise, this cute little thing really works!!! I wish they would make a bumper guard made from soft felt that would help protect my trim.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I live in a house with no kids and no pets. I have hardwood floors troughout the house and always had a problem with dust. This little monster leaves my floors spotless. I do not feel the machine is hard to take care of and I do not mind taking good care of it, because it takes such good care of me. Before its first use I cleaned my floors to help it out and I thought I did a good job. For the next 3 days I could not believe the stuff it had in its bin. I have it set to run at 10 am,seven days a week and clean it after every use. Cleanup take about 5 minutes, empty bin, clean filter, wipe machine, and thats it. I hope that with good maintenance the machine will last me many years. I purchased extra brushes and filters for back up. I hear people having problems with the battery, but if I have to buy a new battery once a year I would not mind. If [$] a year is what I have to pay to have a clean floor all year, thats fine by me! If you do have pets and kids I feel this would greatly assist you in keeping the house clean.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I recently purchased two Roombas. One I use on the 2nd floor of my house to keep the bedrooms clean. It works very well, and I'm thrilled that it cleans under the beds.
The other I originally used in my family room where I have the crates of two lab-mix puppies. The dogs spend most of their time in this room. I've found that the roomba could not keep up with the amount of hair they shed, even though I used the roomba daily. It was clogged every day. I've given up using it to keep this room clean and have moved it to an area of the house with less dirt and hair.
Although I am very very pleased with the vacuums, I am disappointed that I wasn't able to use one of them in the room in my house that needed frequent cleanings the most.
I would also suggest that before using one of these vacuums you start with a fairly clean home. I needed to vacuum each area of my home before using Roomba for the first time in that area. It does great at maintaining once the area is clean.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We are very happy with our robot. He does a great job and saves a lot of time except when I stand there and watch him work. He can be very entertaining. He has gotten stuck a couple of times, but only under oddly shaped furniture. He cleans in many places you cannot reach well with an uprught (under beds, pantry carts, etc.). Our dogs are not bothered by him at all. I have seen a few comments about noise, but he is much quieter than any other vacuum I have owned. I have used a Dyson right after the Little Dude finished just to see how much more it would pick up and it was minimal. I probably need a Dirt Dog for my shop and a Loog for my gutters.

We just completed laying 1,800 sq. ft. of wood flooring throughout our home and realized that it's harder to go barefoot because now we could feel every little pieces of dirt and debris on our feet and it was quite a daunting effort to sweep the entire house every day to keep it clean, especially with two big dogs. Our friends have a Roomba (never realized they existed prior to that) and we were amazed at what theirs did and how much they raved over it. About a week into having our new floors we realized what a HUGE chore it was going to be to try to keep up with sweeping every day, it took forever and it seemed like it would never end and we decided to invest in a Roomba!!!! Oh my gosh, I've loved it from the very first day!!! Our little Scotty runs every day and does a fabulous job cleaning! I don't ever feel like I need to follow up cleaning after he's run and I don't HAVE to wear socks all the time anymore to keep the grit off the bottom of my feet because it cleans that well! It does a great job getting into those hard to reach areas like under the bed and furniture that I rarely cleaned before! I find myself watching HIM work and I have to smile because I don't have to, I can relax or do other things! He is rather loud and that part is quit annoying, the other two in our house complain about it, but other than that, no complaints at all. This is the best practical invention and it really saves a lot of time and effort. I would recommend this to ANYONE thinking about purchasing this brilliant invention! [...]

Great for pet hair. Scheduled to run everyday. Better than dragging out upright vacuum cleaner to pick up dog hair - dog shed mode is shed, super shed or extreme shed. Just need to make sure to clean thoroughly after each run if dog sheds like mine. Goes under furnitre that hasn't been vacuumed in ages.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This Roomba worked well for a couple of months until it would not run more than a couple of minutes without stopping and saying, "Remove and clean Roomba's brushes." I'd clean them and it would stop again and again saying the same thing. I finally took it back to the store. I have an old Discovery Roomba model that I use again after buying another battery for it. This is the third battery I have bought for it, but it works well with a new battery.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Although the Roomba is NOT designed to replace the standard vacuum cleaner (for carpeted floors), it DOES reduce the frequency of regular vacuuming by keeping the surface dust and debris from settling deep into the carpet. Our two most valued benefits in using the Roomba daily are Roomba’s ability to remove the surface dust and allergens that would get kicked up while walking about the house. This keeps the household dusting to a minimum, keeps the return air vents cleaner longer & keeps us breathing better each day. The fact that Roomba travels and cleans under furniture, particularly the beds, is a HUGE plus for the product. One great feature is the ‘scheduler’ built in to the Roomba. It's convenient not needing to remember to push the start button each day. In regard to the Roomba’s negatives, it’s not whisper quiet and can get loud in open areas where there’s little to absorb sound. If you have wood furniture, the Roomba will scare the wood over time, particularly wood legs. Frequent cleaning is a must. If the unit is used in bathroom areas where brushed hair finds its way to the floor, it is even more of a must since the hair finds it’s way around the brush bearings. Our Roomba 500 series unit, which gets used 5 days a week, lasted about 12 months before needing a new battery and a new cleaning head module (not just new brushes). In spite of the negatives, however, we’re hooked on the Roomba and would miss not having one.

Wonderful product that I should've purchased years ago. Easy to operate, our 4 year old loves to pick up everything off the floor and turn it on before going to bed. What more can you ask for? The maintenance is easy and so is the online support. They even have the noises if something is wrong for you to judge your robots noise against. Easy easy easy.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Works well with the exceptions to dark carpeted areas. We have a large area rug like a multi-colored checker board, when it gets to a dark area it will start jerking itself around in a circle, then sound alarm and stop. (we contacted the company and they informed us the cliff sensors do not allow the robot to clean on dark carpet, due to 'thinking' it will fall off a cliff!) We just setup the virtual wall so it won't go on that rug. It also gets stuck under kitchen cabinets sometimes, however the alert is great in letting us know! Spinning side brushes need replacing quite often if it is used daily. They break off easily. Customer service told us there was a new design of spinning side brushes coming out, so.....we will see if that design holds up when we get those. Customer Service told us they would send us the new design brushes when they came out, we have not yet received them. They did send us a couple of new sidebrushes after complaining of the originals breaking. Looks like the new design has 3 brushes (looking under the accessories section of the site)ours has 6.
Not sure how often it "needs" the brushes cleaned, but I clean the "main" brushes almost every time, it stopped working once because the side brush had wound up some hair underneath it, couldn't tell by looking, easy fix, phillips screwdriver removed the brush, the hair looked like a felt washer.
The filter is pretty durable, haven't replaced it yet, I just blow it out with my air compressor.
Overall pleased with its performance, inexpensive to operate, does a very good job cleaning, it will tell you when it "needs" maintenance, it'll get rid of those dust bunnies under your bed!! Customer service is bordering excellent. Would buy again after 11 months of ownership.

Kenny has been able to pick up the dead leaves off of the plants. I have many plants in my house and the dead leaves always seemed to be everywhere. Ever since I got Kenny, the leaves are gone. I have never been much of a cleaner, but all my friends say they should have bought me one of these years ago. My house looks great. As with everyone elses comments, if you can come up with a way to clean steps, I will be the first in line to buy.
Also, Kenny does an amazing job in corners. I didn't think it would, but the corners of my rooms look great too.

Purchased the 560 for Christmas. Excellent coverage. Does a great job on hardwood, carpet, rugs and under furniture. It is a bit noisy - but it is a vacuum. Only one problem - should have purchased it sooner. It comes out of its corner - cleans the entire room - and then returns to home base. Simply an Amazing machine.

We've had Roomba for a year. She's so useful we've personified her. We COULD NOT live without her. She gets hung up every so often, but this in no way diminishes our love for her. Neither my wife nor I can believe that we are using a robot clean for us, but it's true. Every single day of the year she picks up so much dirt that it's hard to imagine living in our house had it not been for Roomba. This device is the most hasslefree, maintenance free, never fail, device I've ever seen.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
OK, I've only had her a couple of days but I'm in love. I plugged her in and the next day we just pushed "clean" and off she went. She cleaned my living room, hallway, and kitchen before she came back for a charge. My livingroom is hardwood and my kitchen is lenoleum. I have two dogs, one being a Saint Bernard so I get a lot of pet hair and pine needles from outside. It was also the day after Christmas and we have three boys who opened presents so there were small pieces of paper on the floor also. I was amazed at how well she did. She even pushed my recycling box out of the way and was able to get under and between the kitchen chairs. I never in my wildest dreams would think that it would work this well. Today we tried her on carpet in both the kid's bedrooms. It did a beautiful job. We just put her in and closed the door. I've only had her for a couple of days so if something changes I'll add to this.

Great gadget...Did a lot of research on this Vacuum...
didn't find a lot of negativity... So I bought one, glad I did....
We have a large downstairs and 3 pets and a lot of traffic coming in and out... We had to sweep almost everyday to keep up with the dirt and pet hair...
But with Arnold, Roomba 560, he does it for us.... I found the light houses to be very useful, one is used especially near the cat and dog dishes and the water bowls, this restricts Roomba from entering the animals eating area knocking into the water dishes and spilling them... thumbs up on that! I've watched Arnold get into some very tight places around the furniture and eventually he finds his way out.... He's been places and cleaned where we couldn't before with our old Vacuum.... I know Arnold doesn't do the deep, deep cleaning as our Rainbow Vacuum does, but so far he's coming close, Arnold's main job in this house is to take care of the day to day sweeping that we use to have to do, Thanks Arnold!
Arnold is now saving us time to do more things.....When I see Arnold heading back to his docking station for a recharge, I know what he's thinking,........
"I'LL BE BACK!"

I have been asking for a Roomba for two years now. DH finally let me get one, and I have to say before I ran it I thought the carpet needed shampooing... but I think it can at least go until spring! It sounds cliche, but it has given new life to my cheap construction grade capret! It fluffs it up better than a carpet rake, and it's shiney again like it was when it was new!!!
I thought my Electrolux Harmony was doing a good job... well "I thought" says it all, huh?!
This might be a good product for allergy sufferers. It really finds every last little hair... it found a lot of mine too! LOL! Yes it's pricey, but I really think it's worth the money if it helps with dust and pet allergies!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We use the robot while we are away from home, so scheduling was a big deal to us. It runs mostly on hardwood floors, and then the carpet area during the weekends. Plus it deals with the pet. Some things that are great. Keeps the dogs busy, they love to chase it, let it hit a wall, then have it chase them. One of our boxers learned early that if he hit the middle of the unit that it would turn on, so in the beginning we had it running more during the day. My wife was impressed, so we let him know the command clean means turn on the roomba. So finally, our pets can finally clean up after themselves. This is one of those fun toys in the beginning, and afters a year time I really don't think about the roomba unless it has lost it's base. That is exactly what I wanted in a vacuum cleaner.Cleaning takes a lot longer with the pets. I clean the roomba about every 3 days. That consists of empty the bin, pull out the brushes, clean out the pet hair (I use a sharp knife on most of this, and check the wheel areas). Then about every two months I take off the main cover and clean out the battery area and near the motors. I would say with the big cleaning it is probably down to 30 minutes. The 3 day cleanings are about 10 minutes. This is a lot more maintenance then my normal vacuum, but it also runs every day compared to my normal vacuum. The cleaning portion is still less then my big vacuum if I cleaned it like I did the roomba. The great thing about cleaning it is that this means that it is picking up dirt, maybe not all of it but more then what I would be doing during the time it is running.Personally I love the roomba and I own this one and a series 400 model that I took to work to entertain the cubicles.Bad things that the roomba does. 1) our house is an obstical course that roomba has to run through. It doesn't do this very well with power cords down, blanks touching the floor, or anything else that can get sucked up into a vacuum cleaner. He can get lost in the dinning area where all the chairs are under the table creating a maze of a forest. So the roomba will put in a new schedule for you of tiding up the place if your not use to that. 2. High areas. We have a transition piece from hardwood floors to lynolium. This is a little to high for the roomba and so it will deposit a dirt line along this area. Probably could be fixed if I used the virtual walls more in this area.4) if the power is dropped all the way, the schudle gets erased. The roomba for the most part is not in my mind, so there can be a week in which no cleaning is done.5) Roomba complains about it's brushes, pressing the button again to clean/dock lets it run like normal. This is probably due to the fact that I have not replaced roomba's main brushes since I've owned it. That is changing as I plan on getting a maintenace kit.6) The soft brushes do not like pet hair, kind of collects there. The upside to this to me, downside to some is that it will deposit a wad of pet hair kind of like a hair ball. To me this is Ok, because I can find it and pick it up like stuffing out of the latest pet toy.7) The side brush is not very good. Gets tangles in cords if they are left down, the brushes get broken off. I keep a supply of them on hand. When I get down to three brushes left, I replace it. [...]Things the Roomba does well.1) Constant cleaning. With pets that was what we would do with our normal vacuum cleaner. Now the other vacuum only comes out on the weekends and usually only for a touch up (go around the edges of the room)2) Easy daily cleaning if you do it that often. No tools needed, just push a clip here or there.3) The Schedule is a good feature, the power loss is not4) Entertaining to those that see it5) portable6) Spot cleaning7) It can yell when in trouble if anyone is there to hear it. We are not so it usually powers down8) able to upgrade it. I though about buying the wireless remote just for the fun of it. (kind of like a nice RC car that I can keep chasing the pets with)9) so easy that a dog is operate it. Probably not too many reviews will have that one. If I can just get the dogs to empty the bins and clean the brushes.10) It has made me want to design my house around the roomba just like I did when I put in the home network. Little things over time just makes it easier for the roomba, which makes it easier for me. Which each version of the roomba makes improvements, so I know that roomba is going to be a part of my life just like the web. This was my first roomba. I have since got the 400 and a scooba. The roomba 560 was great for us, and we'll keep upgrading in time. It works best on hardwood floors and I would love to replace the rest of the kitchen with hardwood and remove the big transition piece in the house. the 400 did a good job to me, but the battery broke on it and the cost of a new one is almost the cost of a new 400 when they are on sale. The scooba was joke, which we were told sorry for your bad luck. It is a door stop if I wanted to leave it out. I hoping to take it apart and use it has a robot training toy.The 560 does not have the problem the others do. The battery is sealed inside the housing, and the path find and cleaning patters are better then the scooba. The 560 is the first model I would recommend as the starting place for the roomba.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The thing that has anoyed me the most is that it gets stuck on my living room chairs. They have "L" shaped feet and the roomba gets on top of them and can't get off. Mostly this thing works like a charm. I don't have to vakuum so I'm happy.

We use Hazel multiple times each day to clean our pets' hair (two LARGE dogs) from our downstairs areas. The dogs ignore Hazel now after a bit of sniffing and "woofs" at first.
A great job of engineering and software development.

I love it. When I broke my foot, it was the one thing I could count on to help me keep my house clean. I'm always amazed at the amount of dirt and dust it picks up. The brushes do get clogged somewhat quickly, but that's easily remedied. I've recommended the 560 to so many people they told me I should be a spokesperson. It really works.

I work full time and appreciate the help Rosie gives. I can use that time to do other things other than go over kitchen/dining/hallway every night. Yes, you can hear it but it's not all that loud. I've only had a few weeks but so glad I took the chance. Very safisfied.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have a the 560, supposed to be one of the best. It's not very smart. It just runs into everything until it triggers a program mode to run e.g. circle table leg, clean wall edge, etc. If no one is home and everything is picked up, then it does a decent job of cleaning. Much harder when there are people in the house because it gets confused. iRobot needs to step up if they plan on competing with the Samsung robot that's coming. It has a camera and cleans like a human would.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
There is ONE thing that no one should own when they have children and pets...carpet! I was calculating how much it would cost me to replace every piece of carpet, with hardwoods, in our 2700 sq. ft. home when I discovered the Roomba! I had just finished shampooing the family room when it arrived. As soon as the carpet was dry I put the Roomba to work. It picked up so much dirt and pet hair, as if I had never shampooed the carpet. I'm in love with a robot! The fact that it does our hardwoods and tile makes it even better. Now if I could just get it to do the laundry. It is THE best thing ever!

It is wonderful!! I turn it on before I go back to work from my lunch break and come home to clean floors!!! With 3 kids and 2 dogs there is no more fighting about who will be vaccuming. It was purchased by my parents for a gift to us because they love their roomba so much!!!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Bought Roomy about 5 months ago when my wife told me that vacuuming was now my job since I don't do gardens. I have a bad back and hate vacuuming. she was skeptical until she saw it at work and she is not easy to please. Roomy does it all. Hardwood floors, tile, short rugs, long nap rugs, under furniture, under the dining room table with all the chairs pushed up under the table. Only gets stuck on chairs that have a tube flat on the floor and on the sliding door track that borders our florida room. Solution, get the chair(very light) off the floor and for the sliding door track, hit the run button. A small gripe is that Roomy is hard to find if he stops because of a problem. A beep every 10 seconds could help in locating Roomy if he gets stuck in a closet or under a couch or bed. Biggest gripe is getting the cat hair(we have a persian) off the ends of the brushes and just yesterday, I had to remove the brush drive unit, take it apart and remove the hair and relubricate. Instructions in the manual on how to do this could avoid problems. The only tools required are one small phillips screw driver and the ability to disassemble and reassemble. It is not too difficult. A rubber seal on the brush drives could eliminate this very minor problem. I love it and plan to buy one for my stepdaughter who is handicapped and can't use a regular vacuum. And who would want to with Roomy there to handle the cleaning?

I use it on wood and laminate flooring 5 days a week on a schedule, and randomly on the weekends if I'm out. Does a very great job with short dog hair, scheduler is a definite plus, dogs aren't bothered by it much. Rarely gets stuck, occasionally doesn't locate it's charging base are the only minor things I've had happen.

We have 5 birds which do get messy with feathers, seeds and other messes. My wife was not sure of it getting it under the cages, but when she seen the vidio at the store she whe to give it a tryed. It works great.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Overall this is a great product. Some things that should be improved:
battery life-wont do my full apt. 825sq.ft.
new tool to clean brushes-current tool works very poor
noise reduction-quite loud, if you get a phone call you will want to shut it off or go into another room
If those three items were fixed this would be a flawless machine.

I will always have an iRobot vaccuum-I love Roomba and have shared that love with many friends and family. Absolutely the perfect way to maintain your homes cleanliness. Who is really able to vaccuum their main living area 7 days a week? I am because of Rrroomba! With the exception of it getting occasionally stuck and the fact that it could use a backpack to hold the amount of dirt and hair that a family of 6 and a golden retriever can leave behind,it's AMAZING! Thanks for your innovation. If money grew on trees I'd own EVERY iRobot you make!!

The 560 model robot cleans my house so I don't have to. if you are a busy person i would say to get this robot, But the one con i have with this robot is sometimes it has problems finding its way back to home base and i put the home base in a spot were it can find it and it still has problems but otherwise i love it.

I love this little guy. I got him on Saturday and it is now Monday. Everytime he goes and cleans, I find myself watching him in AWE! He has been down the halls and in all the rooms. I have 2 kids with messy rooms so I really watch him in there or just close the doors all together but with my room and the other rooms, not a problem. I used my regular vacuum Saturday morning and then scheduled him to clean late Saturday afternoon after he charged all up. I had company over Saturday night so I sent him on his way again Sunday morning and he was already programmed for later that night. So with those 3 times he went out in the same rooms his little bin came back with lots of stuff in it and it didn't look like anything was even on the floors. I told my husband that I don't think I have ever seen our floors so spotless. We have 3 birds and a dog so we always have pet hair and the dusty powder from the birds around. Plus 3 girls in the house with long hair. I love my little guy with everything he does to help around. His compartment is easy to empty and it's easy to remove any hair off the roller brush. He follows the edges of walls and turns at the corners, goes under the kitchen table and around all the legs of the chairs and under our beds (can you do that with a regular vacuum without moving your bed?). Cute to watch him go back "home" when he needs to afterwards. Such a smart little critter

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My office condo neighbor, the attorney, told me to come over and meet her new assistant. It was the Red Roomba. I thought prior to my first formal introduction that Roomba's were just an expensive dumb thing for lazy people. Well, my attorney neighbor does not vacuum often and the carpets were pretty well a mess.
I watched, she talked, and Roomba cleaned and I was impressed. 3 weeks later I had a Dirt Dog, followed a month later with the 560.
Kevin, the 560, wakes up at 1pm M-R at my house, I do not have to vacuum downstairs. To translate, I have 1200 sq ft of carpet, stone, and tiled flooring and there are no cookie crumbs on the carpet, or the trail of debris from the dog door. It really is like having a maid.
The biggest problem I "had" with Kevin was when he would be going full tilt and hit a metal floor vent. Talking about a reset! Those conductors he uses to charge himself, they hit that metal and see ya, he is done for the day.
I went to the building supply store and bought some spray plastic, applied it to the outside of the vents, then applied paint. Well, have not seen him take the "short" way out for sometime.
Only other thing you have to watch is the brushes, they can get clogged up with "crud" and he will stop working. When there is a bunch of little fuzzy things around, like excessive dust or cotton from cottonwood trees, or the shedding dog, I pay closer attention to him.
Sometimes Kevin can't find his base and he runs out of juice, I do not know what is up with that.
Kevin runs 6 days a week. He vacuums downstairs 5 days, and then I take him upstairs and cleans where I don't.
I have no complaints, and my Grandma, who is 90, gets the biggest kick out of him.

Cleans every day when I am at work. When I come home the floors are neat and clean - no small effort when we have two messy little eaters. Has no problem picking up underneath the kitchen table, including rice, crumbs, chunks of food, etc.

This is my second Roomba and I love it! Convenient and easy to use. I usually clean it out after each use b/c my house collects everything. I have four dogs, five cats, two parakeets, plus two sons. I often leave the back door and the windows open, so dust and debris are a constant problem and this Roomba gets the job done. I am thinking about trying out the new Pet Series as well.

Roomba 560 good cleaner? Yes. Robust? No
Either I’ve been unlucky, or the Roomba 560 is anything but robust. I’ve owned mine for six months now, and have had to send it back for repair three times already!
Twice the main brushes have stopped turning, once the problem was the side brush repeatedly falling off!
Do I keep the brushes clear of hair etc? Oh yes, indeed I clean the unit out so often that my husband is of the opinion that it would be less work to revert to manual vacuuming.
I think it’s a wonderful cleaner, my home has never been so clean, but I’m rather worried about repair costs once it passes it’s one year guarantee.
I would recommend but with caution.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I bought my 560 a couple of weeks ago, and all I can say is WOW. My 560: V5R6 cleans my house while I'm away and it only takes a couple minutes to clean him up when he is done. I have a Siberian husky and it was easy to teach my dog to leave V5R6 alone. I just said no in a stern voice and after a few sniffs of curiosity he learned to stay out of V5R6's way.
My floors have never been cleaner: carpet, hardwood and tile. He goes right over the separation between hardwood and tile, which I thought was gonna be a problem. He can clear an obstacle over an inch in height, Awsome! V5 only gets stuck in two places in my entire house: a chair that has bars across the ground, and under the back of my couch. Solution was to move the chair, and position a virtual wall behind the couch so he doesn't go under there. BTW with the chair that he gets stuck on, it was because it was against the wall in a corner.
I am so impressed with V5R6 I am saving for a Scooba. Best recommendation I have is that if you think you might get a Scooba anyway, get the package that they offer. I was skeptical so I didn't, but I sure wish I had now!
P.S. V5R6 = Vacuum, 5th generation, Roomba, 6th model.

I bought this robot in August, and have loved it ever since. I have 3 kids, so food crumbs, dirt,
and leaves are many in our home. The roomba had no problem picking up anything in it's path. Before I got the roomba I was having to clean with my upright vac almost every day! With the roomba 560's on board scheduling, it can clean without any help. The only bad thing about this robot is that it cannot clean stairs.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This is my third Roomba & it is much better than the previous models. I liked them, but I Love this one. It cleans effectively, and has never gotten stuck. With two pre-teen sons, I would be vacuuming every day if I didn't have the Roomba. It's one of those things that, once you get used to it, you can't imagine living without it. I love how it docks & charges itself after cleaning... How cool is that?
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I bought my Roomba about 6 months ago and have not had to take out my old school vacuum one time since. I have three cats and have Stella (my Roomba) run everyday at 1pm and she never misses picking up any of hair. I would recommend this to anyone that has a shedding pet or anyone that is not a fan of vacuuming. I will be getting the Scooba for sure to clean my hardwood floors.

If Vacuum cleaner salesmen were selling these door to door, I would have owned one years ago.I now have three and a Scooba. As my sister said, (after I talked her into buying one) "Owning a Roomba has elevated my home to a new level of clean." The best for people with allergies, it finds the dust we miss and with regular use, the floors are "barefeet" clean.[...] All over, I'm one happy customer.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I ADORE MY ROOMBA!! It cleans while I am doing something else. We have a Husky dog that sheds lots of white hair. I have to clean the kitchen every day to pick all those hairs. It does a wonderful job all I have to do afterwords is mop.
I am so happy with this product that I tell everyone at work How wonder it is. The only thing that could improve a little is the side brush. The screw that hold the brush gets worn off. I guess what can be done to prevent that; is that when replacing the brush after cleaning it. Do not screw it too tight.. I LOVE IT!!!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
From the moment we charged the unit, it cleaned my living room, kitchen and dining room. I used to sweep everyday because of all the pet hairs and crumbs from my kids. Now I schedule Roby, and come home to clean carpets and floors. Amazing, either someone lazy created this or a genius. I can see the cobwebs building up on my Dyson now.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love my roomba 560 at first. But now after having her for several months, I have found that although roomba covers a large area and picks up dust and debris, I am really disappointed in how she handles pet hair. I have 2 black labs, and the Roomba does not VACUUM UP dog hair. It just catches it in its brushes and if I don't clean them at least 3-4 times each time I run it, the hair is redeposited in clumps on the floor, rug edges or on my eating vent covers. I would like it a lot more if the hair was vacuumed up into the plastic bin. I am finding it taking more time to stop and clean it often, than if I used my old vacuum. And I use it at least once if not twice daily. Also , the small spinning brushes break very easily and it is a big expense to keep replacing them, and the filter. [...] Great idea, but resolve the problem with pet hair please

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
As a single guy, I really don't engage in much house cleaning. I've had more than a few girlfriends take the vacuum, and clean my entire house. So roomba (Molly) is a godsend. Tonight a former girlfriend came over (it was her birthday)and all she could do was stare at the floor in disbelief. She had never seen the place so clean. She said it was as good as her cleaning. I feel like I'm entering a new chapter in my life- as corny as that sounds. This machine does everything I had hoped it would. You do have to get cords and other things off the floor, or it does sometines get a bit carried away in grabbing them, and sometimes it can't seem to find the charging base, which is not a big deal. It has good battery life and seems pretty sturdy. I think this would be ideal for a college environment where you have multiple roommates, particularly males.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This machine is a time saver. It does an excellent job. I push the go button and head to the barn. When I get back, the rooms are clean, really noticeably clean. We have mostly hardwood floors and some short pile area rugs. Roomba cleans both.
Roomba is a must if you have pets. It picks up pet hair that you can't see.
I clean roomba after every cleaning so it is ready to go. It does require cleaning between use, at least around our house, but I would rather spend the time cleaning roomba's brushes than I would pushing a vaccum cleaner around.
I use the big vacuum cleaner to deep clean the rugs about once a week... roomba handles the daily chores.
I would recommend roomba to anyone. He is great.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Right before my first Roomba use, I used my expensive other vac. Then I set Roomba loose on the floor that was supposedly clean. I could not believe the stuff it pulled out of the carpet! I totally love the Roomba. I can't program it to run when we are not home since I have two teenagers who will never learn to pick up after themselves (picture showlaces in the Roomba - I've seen it drag shoes around). The good part is I can run it while I do other chores around the house and I feel like I am getting twice as much done, very gratifying. As an added bonus we really enjoy watching our dog run from the Roomba that he believes is chasing him!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have only just purchased a Roomba 560 and I am thrilled with it. It cleans much more efficiently than I had anticipated and even my very sceptical partner is impressed.
Our two cats are fascinated by it, but, because it is quiter than our regular vacuum cleaner it doesn't frighten tham so much.
The brushes can get snarled up with fluff and hair, but they are easy to clean.
However, I find myself talking to it and am beginning to doubt my sanity!! It's so cute!
I love being able to schedule it to clean early in the morning so we get up to a clean house. I just hope it proves reliable.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I can't believe how much dirt "Reena" vaccums up everytime she runs, even when it is every other day sometimes, how does she do it? How could I have thought my carpets were clean before, when I did a once or even twice a week vaccuming! The only "down side" to having Reena is you become totally dependent on her, and if anything needs replaced or repaired on her it is a LONG WAIT to have her back running doing a great job!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I Purchased my Roomba 560 ten days ago and i was so satisfied with the product that immediately started looking foward to add a Scooba to my arsenal.
Roomba really does what iRobot promised. It has excellent suction power and it doesn't spit dirt back on the floor, like other small good-looking vacuums. It even picks up large debris!
Although, It misses spots here and there, but that's not a big deal. Even people leave spots behind, while doing this job. I usually give the room final touches using the "spot" function.
Roomba even sweeps along the walls! But it could be better with corners. The side brush is just not long enough to reach them. Seriously. That's something for iRobot to think about.
Anyway, Roomba does what no other vacuum does. Works by itself, which makes it a great choice. And the virtual walls/lighthouses are very helpful.
Unfortunately, they require batteries, which is a little bit "1980's", for a product so advanced. iRobot should come up with a rechargeable version of those babes.
However, Roomba tends not to clean nearby the lighthouse. That's a flaw. It just doesn't!
After the job is done, cleaning up the robot is very simple. Roomba's clever design allows me to remove parts to be cleaned up and snap them back easily. I was very impressed when i first saw the amount of dirt in the debris bin!!! Loved it. Can't wait to try the scheduling funcion...

I got my Roomba for Christmas 2007. In our house there are two small kids 4 & 6. Our family room & kitchen the most used rooms in our house were constantly dirty. Although we have a cleaning service once per week I still needed to vaccum every second day to have it as clean as I liked.
When I got Blacktop I programmed him to come on every afternoon while the family was out of the house. I couldn't believe all the stuff he picked up even after the cleaning service came.
I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this robot to anyone except those with dogs.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I purchased the iRobot to help control the accumulation of pet hair. It does that admirably well. There are a few problems with the unit however. First, it often becomes wedged under furniture. Fortunately it turns itself off at those times. Second, the side brushes are extremely delicate. It tends to break easily when it catches on carpets or on furniture edges. I've lost several brushes in a short period of time. Still, the robot does exceptionally well with the task for which I purchased it--it operates automatically throughout the week and picks up an amazing amount of dirt and animal fur. It is also easy to clean.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This vacuum is great when it works - I love it but I consider the delicate nature of the side brushes a major flaw. They got torn up within three weeks of use. They are expensive to replace and there is no break on the postage if you place multiple orders. I had a less effective roomba but the side brushes were much more durable. The least roomba could do is find a way to sell accessories in the same stores the vacuums are sold. It would save some of us postage.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I really love my Roomba. At first I thought it would be a gimmicky item, but was pleasantly surprised to find it actually worked quite well. We don't use it on carpeted surfaces so I can't tell you about the cleaning ability in this area, but LOVE it for our hardwood floors. We have an entire level of hardwood in our home and the Roomba cleans with no problems at all. It has never been stuck, it doesn't bash into walls or scrape the white paint from our floorboards and trim. It surprises me every time I empty it's bin just how well it really does dust our floors. Love it, Love it, Love it........only one drawback, and that is that the sidebrush breaks often.....just like everyone else seems to be noticing. I find pieces of itself in the bin when I go to empty it. I think the manufacturer definitely needs to improve upon this. Fortunately, you can easily replace this part, but you shouldn't have to for what you pay for this product!

This is my third Roomba and each time I get one, it is improved. I love it. I have wall to wall carpeting and a cat. The only problem I have is that they dont last-I use it once a week, cleaning after each use and after a few years they break down. While I am waiting to get a new one, I use my Hoover Wind Tunnel which I hate pushing around and which cant get up the small litter, hair etc. Recently, I had a bridal shower in my home and when everyone left, I used the Hoover but it didnt clean well at all. I was thinking I would need to get a professional cleaning. Then my Roomba arrived and I am so happy. My carpet looks like new.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have 2 long hair, shedding dogs. They both like to hang out under the bed. I have Randolph vacuum every day, I am amazed at the hair he gets from under the bed. He does my carpets better than my old vacuum, which was more expensive. I have to use tweezers to remove the hair from around the brushes, but it's very easy.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I specifically bought my roomba for my kitchen and family room which have hardwood floor. I got tired of seeing all the crumbs and pet hair when you first walk into the house. The other day I left the roomba to clean the kitchen and family room while I went shopping, and when I came back, the floor was ready to be mopped! My dog doesn't mind it at all, he stays up on the couch when its running. My mother-in-law borrowed my roomba and plans of buying one because she has a bad hip and can't vaccuum anymore. She is very particular and I honestly thought she would have nothing but negative things to say.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My husband would always complain about how dirty the floors are. I have two kids a dog and my husband all bringing the outside dirt in. I tell everyone that I live on 5 acres and one of them is in my house! He got me the Roomba for Mother's Day and it is the best gift ever! I don't have to listen to him complain anymore...at least not about the floors. Thanks!

Much improved ! I had a Roomba Discovery and it did a pretty good job but it would constantly get stuck and anything loose would get it tangled up and stop it. If there was a loose thread in my carpet it would grab on and start unraveling my carpet !
The new Roomba is much better and it goes places and does not get stuck in an area where Discovery would. Cleans efficient and is much quieter.

Vacuuming is the hardest household chore when you have a bad back. I have a Persian cat, and there is always pet hair on the floors. My husband bought me a Roomba for Christmas. It's a prized posession!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
My husband objected. I bought it anyway. By 30 minutes of operation, he had found a little rubber octopus to ride around on top and named the robot Isaac (after the Good Doctor, Isaac Asimov, who didn't live to see his household robot stories start to come true).
This is a life-changing appliance. I got rid of the big vacuum and we have just Isaac and a hand vac. I occasionally borrow my mom's upright to give the carpets a brush-up - Isaac can't maintain nap in heavy traffic areas quite as well as an upright. But everyday cleaning is WONDERFUL. The floors are much cleaner than I formerly kept them. The little time spent dumping his bin and cleaning brushes is well worth it. TIP: GET A SEAM RIPPER (from a fabric store) to easily zip out hairs that get wrapped around the brush ends.
CUSTOMERS OF THAT SWEDISH FURNISHING SUPERSTORE: Keep a box or something under Poang chairs to prevent your robot from going underneath. It can get high-centered on the chair base.
We think the side brush looks like Nemo's "lucky fin"!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We have lots of tile in our house and this has helped so much with the dust. I love letting it run every evening after supper in the kitchen. With little kids this has helped so much keep the crumbs off the floor. Our house was struck by lightening and the charger and homebase were ruined so be sure to plug it into a surge protector.[...] I am looking into buying the scoomba soon!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
It is a vacume and it works as well as expected. Would purchase again!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Definitely one of the better investments I've made. The Roomba is excellent at what it does, though i've had a bit of trouble with wires and cords.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have two cats, 1 dog, 1 dusty old house...1 new boyfriend who has allergies. Needless to say i am trying to be extra clean so the guy is not sneezing while eating dinner. roomba works amazingly, you will be SHOCKED at how much she picks up. Watch her get out of jams, and wiggle around in a gentle/delicate manner. roomba also provides hours of fun for the hairy critters that she slaves away picking up after all day. Buy one you will love it! I am also planning on buying the scooba.

I have the roomba 560. BEST THING EVER!!!! I work full time and if I am not working at my main job I am at the Ambulance working... my girlfriend also works full time. We have 2 cats and a puppy Rottweiler. I told her when we moved in together that I don’t clean. I'm happy to say I love cleaning the floors LOL push of a button and everything is getting cleaned while I can do more important things. Like watch TV..! ROOMBA SUPPORT is great. I had a problem with my roomba with it clicking and they sent me the part I needed (for free and it was rushed) THANKS GUYS. Best of all they speak perfect English on the phone!! =D
I LOVE YOU ROOMBA

I have not yet programmed Lurch, and need to get some more filters, but he is so much fun to use. I turn him loose making sure doors are closed, very often. Once, he got loose in my office without my permission. He cleaned that room, too, but got tangled up with a kleenex and shredded it. He didn't seem to mind, though.

I love my Roomba! I received it as a gift for Christmas from my Dad and Step-mom. I have been waiting to see if he could stand the test of time before I decided to write a review, the results are in, he can! I have banished the old vacuum to the garage and Woosa is the star of the show. We have a dog, a cat, and a 3 year old, having Woosa around is like having our own personal maid to vacuum whenever the dog tracks something in or the three year old drops crumbs. We are a very busy family, before Woosa I would drag the old clunker vacuum out just about every morning and then get really frustrated at the little messes that would happen throughout the day. Now that I have woosa I just hit the button when I want him to spot clean and the mess is gone! I would without a doubt recommend a Roomba Vacuum to anyone who dislikes vacuuming but likes having clean floors. Thanks Dad and Deb! This is the best gift ever!!!

We've only had Phydeaux a short while, but within only a few hours I heard my wife say that our Roomba was "cool". That was when it was sweeping and vacuuming under the toe-kicks for the cabinets in the kitchen.
Our condo has all hardwood floors, with only the bedrooms being carpeted. We also have a window wall facing west, so when we come home every night we can see the cat hair and dust on the floor from the front door to the balcony. Even a day or two since the last vacuuming, it almost looks like a carpet of dust.
No mas! Phydeaux does his job (sort of reminding me of the gardener robots in "Silent Running") without complaining, right on schedule every day. Gets under the bed and under the couch where we could never get the old vacuum.
OK, you have to empty the dust bin every day or so. Small price to pay for automatic, thorough cleaning of all your floors.
We'll probably be buying these as Christmas gifts this year!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love the scheduling feature. I can set it to clean one room, let it recharge, then it will begin cleaning another room at the scheduled time. It cleans areas that I cannot reach with a standard cleaner.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The Roomba has been a great timesaver for my wife. She attends to children, a dog, and aunt, normal household tasks, and takes college courses. The Roomba has given her the time spent vacuuming to do other things. She sets it up to run each each night in different rooms. At 4 am, it starts up, does it's duty, and returns to base, usually without issue. It cleans well. The light houses are a neat concept too. The only negative thing we see is the continuous need to replace the side brush. It seems to loose a tenticle probably once every week or so (she vacuums a lot!). The cost of replacement parts such as the side brushes and filters are quite expensive. Other than this, as long as the Roomba is routinely cleaned (she cleans the bin and brushes each night before setting it up for the next clean), there are no other noteable issues. Overall, we are very satified with the Roomba 500 series. [...]

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We shcedule our robot to clean daily as we there are 3 kids and 2 dogs in our household. After 2 weeks of use we started having problems even though it got cleaned and emptied daily. First incident that required a call resulted in a near total disassembly (which was straight forward and easy once you have the 2 proper screw driver sizes and get them ready before you call)of the unit while on the phone with customer support. They did take the time to do the whole disassembly. Pet hair had gotten in to the front wheel making it so the robot was having to push itself on it's back wheels. That had of course made cleaning difficult however, the robot even when new, never did do much more than pick up visible debris and hair. I was sent a replacement brush/cleaning module as a result. Before that part even arrived, the left wheel siezed up and the little devil ran around in circles like a buffalo with ear mites, hence a second replacement part was needed. So here we are with a $$$ hundred plus Valentines Day present that has cost me 3 hours of phone time (you know the automated phone tree hall(vowel=e), the wait time and finally the human on the other end), and 2 weeks of waiting for parts to come. After removing the replacement brush/cleaning module and examining the workings there in, I feel relatively certain the new module is destined to failure as the old one was full of pet hair on, in and around, both moving/rotating and electronic parts. I don't think the workings of the brush/cleaning unit are sealed well enough and the magnet from the motor in the unit of course attracts hair and dust. Dog hair had actually gotten around the shaft of the motor to the point that it was felted and so by not protecting that area there is no way that anyone who has hair or longer fiber as a part of their household debris will be able to have a reliably working unit. I enjoy having the hardwoods and area rugs debris free in the mornings and don't mind that it needs to be roomba proofed daily, but it will cost me about a dollar a day to run because when the 1 year warranty is up, I don't think I will continue to replace the non working parts. I still vaccuum once or twice a week because the unit is not capable of a deep clean but the rugs look good. Our evening "roomba proofing" consists of removing the small light rugs in front of the doorway and in front of the kitchen sink, pick up all pet toys, make sure there are no blankets/throws hanging from the sofa, re-adjust the dining room chairs for proper clearance (it got stuck every day if we didn't), and pick up the dog bowls so that it won't get stuck or push them around the kitchen to be tripped on with bleary eyed mornings. However, a nightly rug removal gives the opportunity for a daily rug shaking, and the pick up (other than dog bowls) is a good thing to do so you wake up with a clean house, but.....
It's a compliment to the engineers though that this little guy can be taken apart so easily and that parts are modulated for ease of removal/replacement. If they hadn't done so, there would be a huge roomba grave yard.
So anyway, we will see what this third month with the unit brings, maybe it will be better and more reliable after getting replacement parts. I sure didn't pay the big bucks to have this thing sitting. I guess I would have spent the time behind a push vaccuum as opposed to being on the phone with customer support so maybe thats a wash. I so wish this will work out but skeptical is an understatement so it could be the auction block for this guy.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The new iRoomba 500 series is truly better than its predecessor. I own one of the older models and I decided to get the new 560.
The unit is more "intelligent", easier to clean, can run longer, and is quieter because of its new sensors--no more banging around when Roomba finds a wall. Also, Roomba has gotten better by always being able to dock with it station and it has not gotten stuck cleaning. The new lighthouses are genius (no more programing each one). They promote better cleaning for each room and I still can use them for a virtual wall as well.
We have three dogs and two cats. The new larger bin has helped but we still have to clean and run Roomba every day in order to keep the the room clean and Roomba's bin clear. A clogged filter/bin means Roomba cannot do its job and that means frequent cleaning. On the plus side, Roomba is much easier to clean and the modular design is a blessing. With a new puppy in the house, we did not notice a "present" left for us by her and Roomba tried to clean it up and ended up making quite a mess of the local area and himself -- Uffda! Watch out for "land mines" Roomba! . . . what a mess but because of the modular design I was able to clean Roomba up -- something I would have never been able to do with the old design.
So I have given my 560 a 4 out of 5 star rating to give those Bostonian engineers and scientists something to improve upon -- lets improve Roomba's cleaning power when the bin and filter get clogged and I'll shoot for the stars and hope for a "intellipet" design that can avoid those "land mines"! ;)
Great job iRobot!

I read the other reviews about it getting stuck, and people have to be realistic. If you have stuff laying all over the place, and furnature cluttered in a maze everywhere, it will make it a challenge for the little guy. You still have to pick up after yourself just like you would if were going to use a regular vaccum. I have had NO trouble with it getting stuck! I have watched it actually back out of tough situations that it couldn't turn out of. I still can't believe how much stuff it picks up. It's awesome to watch it do it's thing, and realize that it knows what it is doing and where it is going. Worth every penny!!!

I have a black lab and beige carpet - so obviously I was dragging out the dyson daily. Now I set Rosie to run every morning and the cleaning crew comes once a week to do the stairs. Yippee I am free from vacuuming. I have 8 large rooms downstairs and it covers them all, but would do best on 4-6 rooms. I am going to buy another one for upstairs. I hope that roomba improves the side brush. That is why I am on here to order a replacement brush for Rosie. She is 3 months old and has lost two of her brushes.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Unfortunately, roomba stops and won't go over black throw rug (which is what shows the most dirt). The side brush cracked in half after about 3 weeks. [...] I guess everyone else's brushes are breaking also.Besides those two flaws, it cleans very well. I didn't know where was so much dirt in my carpet!

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have had roombas of EVERY generation, dating back to the original silver one. The side brush has always been a problem. On the original roomba, it was too "robust" with its downward-facing bristles and it caused damage along the entire edge of the wall to wall carpeting. The newest incarnation is much gentler; however, the wheels run over the brush and endless break spokes off! My latest side brush went from six spokes to 2 spokes in a matter of three weeks. This is a design flaw. Especially if Irobot is charging [$] for a side brush replacement pack! This is the best, most effective roomba yet...but the side brush is still a problem.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Take the time to get to know your Roomba. It takes a day or two getting the light houses just perfect and learning how both of you can have the best cleaning relationship. I am amazed just how smart this thing is and it does wonders with my German Shepards pet hair. It also gets right down to the lowest partical even corners. Works great on carpet or any hard surfuce. Easy to clean and you will be amazed just watching it clean on its own and then it docks itself for the next schedule time (Are you kidding me) Very rare do I say wow GREAT purchase this was 100 percent. Thanks Irobot I have had my new little cleaning friend for five months and will be coming back for more quality products....

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love the idea, don't like the implementation. On the 5th day, the first arm of the spinning side brush broke off. In less than 2 weeks, the second came off. Had it just under a month when it went back to the store. The connector for one of the bottom beater brushes spun off and melted into the recess where it connects. I was very careful to keep the brushes clean and re-install them properly. It must've gotten stuck on something or frozen up and the motor kept trying to turn it. By then, the spinner brush had lost 5 of the 6 arms. It was used on carpet, Hardwood and a couple of area rugs, one with fringe.
For the price, this just isn't robust enough, especially since it is tempting to run it more often and thus wear it out sooner.
I do miss the fact that the house was getting vacuumed a lot more frequently.
I'm hoping that iRobot recognizes these issues and comes out with a sturdier version. If they do, I'll try it again.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I bought a Roomba for my wife for Christmas. She hates robots and at first was strongly opposed to even taking it out of the box. I suggested we try it for a week, and if she didn't like it, we could return it. I set it up to clean weekdays during the kids' nap. Within 2 days, she already started to admit that she liked it. By the 3rd day, I caught her on the irobot website looking at the Scooba. We are now in the process of obtaining one of those as well. My wife is a little neurotic when it comes to cleanliness, and this does the job and doesn't require any effort on her part to get the carpet and wood floors to always be clean. This is by far one of the most convenient and life enhancing things we have purchased in some time. We now have a dyson that sits in the closet on only gets pulled out occassionally to do the stairs. If the roomba could do that, the dyson would go up on craigslist.
Another interesting thing is that my wife's parents visited a month or so after we got it. Within two days, my father in law was shopping around for one. My wife's best friend has told her husband that he should plan on her a Roomba for Mother's Day. We love it, and everyone we know who comes in contact with Mr. Roomba loves him as well.
Another item to note is that thing cleans well. Although it runs 6 days out of the week, it is always full of dust and dirt. And we thought the Dyson did wonders. I am amazed when I empty it daily at the amount of dust it finds. And it cleans in places you could never get a vacuum.

Positive lifesaver for laminate flooring in large den. This is our live-in area & pups are everywhere! No more hair-balls drifting across the floor when I come home at night! Have also used on carpeting & linoleum as well, but mostly stays in den. Even vacuums scattered bird seeds & feathers, although debris bin fills up quickly with this, so best to be home when used for that room. Just wish those little side brushes lasted. Have had RoBeYo only two months and have re-ordered those twice!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I'm always skeptical of 'too good to be true' products. I saw my daughter had a Roomba at Christmas time and asked how she liked it. I set it loose to watch it work. I was really impressed. I bought mine a few weeks ago and feel so much more relaxed about the weekends and what I have to do around the house. I have mine scheduled to run each day when I'm at work. We have hardwoods, area rugs and ceramic tile on our main level. On the weekends I run it upstairs on the carpet. I'm considering getting one for the upstairs as well. It took me a few weeks to think about what I wanted to name my Roomba. As I told others about how much I loved my Roomba, I suddenly realized that Johnny Depp was probably a very fitting name. The only issue I've had with Johnny was, for the first week, my daughter (age 4) kept throwing food on the floor during dinner for the robot to eat!

So what’s so great about the Roomba? Honestly, he’s better than your average husband. More useful and a lot less expensive. Here it is, all laid out for you:
1- He can be trained. After a few passes around the apartment, he learns the layout and cleans more efficiently each time.
2- He cleans all my nooks and crannies. Roomba fits perfectly under the dishwasher so I don’t have to get down on my hands and knees.
3- He pays attention to detail. When he finds a particularly dirty spot, he focuses on getting it clean before moving on.

This little guy is just amazing. The amount out dirt and hair it picked up in the first 30 mins was just mind blowing. Ive only had it for a few days and everyone in my house is just amazed at how it can navigate and negotiate the terrain. Definitely the neatest gadget ive ever owned.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love my new Roomba. It does a great job picking up the day-to-day dirt that gets tracked in. We schedule for him to start cleaning just as we're ready to leave the house to go to work. It's nice to come home to clean floors and carpets. We have 2 short-haired pointers and Ziggy picks up alot of pet hair. The dogs stand on the stairs (safe and out of the way) while Ziggy does the cleaning!

Does a great job of cleaning everywhere it can get to, especially beneath beds, dressers and cabinets. It has never got stuck and is not noisy.
Battery life is good and recharges quickly. Would recommend Roombas to everyone. I enjoy watching it doing its sweeping.

I broke all the rules of gift-giving for your wife and got her the 560 for Christmas. She is a "neat-freak" and she loves the iRobot! We have hardwood floors all over and it does a great job. I was surprised at how well it cleaned our carpet in the few spots we have it. We only wish it could handle our stairs...For some reason, three of the arms on our side brush have broken off (probably got stuck on an area carpet or something similar), but iRobot service is sending out three new ones, under warranty. Sweet. Also, it occasionally gets stuck on a power cord (so we generally lift them up).I have used my air compressor to blow out the unit and to clean the filter after every few uses. This is very effective and I expect that my filters will last a long time this way. I love the way the unit disassembles so that cleaning is a snap. We have four females with long blonde hair, so that is what I spend the most time cleaning off the brushes and from around the spinning mechanisms. Not too bad. Probably 15 minutes for a complete cleaning. So, no real complaints and worth every penny.[$]Just do it. She'll love it.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I'm a college student and so there are people in and out all the time. We named the robot Lafawnduh, from Napoleon Dynamite, and she does a great job at cleaning even when I'm not home. It's nice to come home to carpet that looks clean and isn't dirty with the day-to-day stuff that gets tracked in the house.
I use it to clean the kichen and bathroom floors before I mop, and it picks up more debris than I could pick up with just sweeping. The only problem that I've had is that my curtains touch the floor and one time the side-brush got wrapped up in the curtain... it didn't pull them down, and the robot got untangled, but I could see how that might be a mess. It's only happened once, though, so I've seen no other problems with it getting stuck or getting trapped!
All in all, it's a great value...

This is the greatest gift I have ever received! I absolutely love it!! It makes my floors look like they were buffed. My 5 little doggies ignore it completely, which is WONDERFUL. They bark terribly at my regular vacuum cleaner, which I am now retiring forever. Thank you so much for this product. I am looking forward to getting the floor cleaner model next year for Christmas. EXCELLENT and loving it!!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The Roomba is a great thing to have. I love the way I can schedule cleanings. The one complaint I have is about the side brush. I have been using the Roomba for three weeks and already a couple of the side brush arms have broken off.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Rosie gets all the dirt that would get stirred up and then settle back onto the floors when I swept. I shouldn't admit this, but I haven't swept since I started running it last week. The floors just feel so clean that it has seemed unnecessary. It does take awhile to run through the house, but it docks itself when it needs to recharge and is ready to clean some more in just a few hours. I love Rosie.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I was amazed. I would have never believed this little machine could do such a great job. My daughter said she felt so bad when I was struggling with the vacuum cleaner, so, she got a Roomba for me. Now I just set it, and forget it. Cleaning him out is no big deal, it's easy. Roomby also keeps the cats busy, they think he is a toy.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I was so impressed with Hank (Roomba), that I bought a little less expensive model for my sister. She absolutely loves it and I believe it does just as good a job as Hank. Like microwave ovens...I just don't know how I ever lived without Hank. I also bought the Scooba and it is also marvelous.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Dec 24th, What do I do. Have to buy something special for the wife. The pressure is on to get her an unusual gift. While shopping I saw the Roomba and decided to go for it. What a hit... Wife loves "her" Roomba and uses it quite often. Works great. When my wife says it works great then this is the ultimate test as she used to vacuum the house at least twice a week and now I don't think she has used the vacuum since Christmas and its the middle of January. Now our wish list is a Roomba for the garage and a Scooba and another Roomba for the basement. A big thumbs up to irobot. (PS: My life is easier as I have not had to vacuum twice a week.)
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Usually " Practical" Holiday gifts aren't the best.. but this one was the exception to the rule.
I have read all of the cons in other reviews about Roombas needing extra maintenance..I don't agree that it needs extra or an inordinate amount of maintenance.. it does need routine maintenance.
Empty the dust bin every other time it is used and I clean it once every couple of weeks in my shop with low pressure compressed air.
Great Product!!

I bought my 560 Irobot with the intension of trying and would probably return. My downstairs is all tile with multilevels. I did not like it for this area (I will occasionally use it downstairs because it does do a decent job)however I took it upstairs (which is mostly carpet and some tile and loved it. It is fabulous for under beds. Nothing could do better. No chance of returning this. I am hooked and will probably invest in a scooba as well when I find a good deal.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Had looked online at product and reviews. My only concern was could it go over large and small area rugs. I have several large area rugs, small area rugs with non skid backing and ceramic tile floors. Very impressive cleaned and didn't distrub even the smallest rugs and the tile was cleaned very well. Truly amazing at picking up pet hair on the carpet and floors had more pet hair around than I even imagined.
When in checkout line, 2 unsolicited testomonials of what a great product Roomba was. One of the best product around especially since vaccuuming is not one of my fav pasttimes. Love It, Love It, Love It!!!!!!!!!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I've waited a long time to join the ranks of Roomba owner. Got Dobby over the weekend and absolutely love him!!! With 3 cats, 3 boys and dual careers, the dirt and dust accumulate fast. Dobby really deep cleans (how often do you spend 45 minutes vacuuming just one room?). Does miss some areas, like corners and the edge where tile meets carpet with a wood trim.
Not as loud as my regular vaccum. Does require frequent maintenance (emptying, brush cleaning). I don't mind it though, as Dobby's doing all the hard work!
Does have some trouble finding home base, but I haven't experimented enough with this; will update when I do.
With Dobby, I am vacuuming (er, he's vacuuming) more frequently than ever before, the whole house feels noticeably cleaner. What a great product, can't wait to add a Scooba and a DirtDog to the family!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I was totally skeptical about this product. Even at the checkstand I expected to be taking it back within a day or two. But my husband had heard great things about it and was dead set on getting one. We just renovated the house and replaced a good deal of our carpet with tile. We love the way the tile looks but it's in need of constant cleaning to keep the dust bunnies and pet hair down. I was sweeping every day. Now Robbie does it for me. The dogs ignore Robbie but the cat is jittery around it. I hope she gets used to it because Robbie is the newest member of our family and isn't going anywhere.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I purchased the Roomba 560 approximately 1 month ago and am very impressed with how thoroughly it cleans. I actually look forward to vacuuming now :) We have (3) dogs and kids running around so there is never a shortage of dirt or pet hair. Roomba handles it all. It is so easy to empty the dirt bin and clean the brushes. It just takes a few minutes.
As far as noise is concerned, I don't think it is any louder than a regular vacuum cleaner. Roomba can get stuck occasionally on uneven surfaces such as a large threshold.
My ONLY and BIGGEST complaint so far has been the spinning side brush. After (1) month of use one of the arms broke. iRobot sent me a new spinning side brush (no charge) and the same thing happened - one of the arms broke. Twice in (1) month is a little disappointing. Hopefully, iRobot will improve the quality/mechanics of the spinning side brush.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Use a seam ripper to clean hair from the roller ends.
I had difficultly figuring out which way to open the roller cover - went online and watched the video then it made sense - I was pulling the wrong way - the yellow tabs are pulled/pushed (depending on your angle) toward the roller cover which loosens the clip ends and allows the roller cover to lift. The instruction sheet included in the unit is not very clear.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have a sheltie and live in a mid rise urban apartment with hardwood or tile throughout. Roomba does the daily maintenance with about 5 minutes of my time after each use--emptying the bin and removing dog hair from rollers. Much easier to remove hair than from an upright vaccuum. Don't like it banging into thinner legged furniture (table legs, chair legs) so sensor detection could be improved to reduce wear on my furniture. Does well with large objects, slowing during approach until bumper touches. Side brush IS flimsy with two missing arms after three months use. I am on the site to order replacement parts [...] Side brush is also held in place by a metal screw that tightens into plastic (!). Wonder how long before the receptacle is stripped or no longer will hold the screw? The side brush has already fallen off on a couple of occasions. Overall, a little pricey IMO, but I rationalize the expense by time saved for other productive activities. Will see about the maintenace costs [...].

My "other half" had robot vacuum cleaner on her Christmas list. Appliances are not something you get a woman as a gift, but that's what she wanted. Am I ever GLAD!!! She has not had to do anything with it because I'm consumed with it. It doesn't save me any time because I'm always watching (and marveling) how it works. Not only does it do a great job, but it is so very entertaining. The cat (Special Ed) and I try to figure out its random pattern.
Our schedules are such that we didn't use the upright as we should. With the cat, there were always dust rabbits everywhere...not the case anymore.
Our 560 goes about its chore to (almost) perfection. Most of our floors are hardwood with area rugs. The side brush has a way of getting under the edge of the rugs causing it to have a hard time climbing onto the rug. Eventually, it figures how to clean it.
One other thing that keeps ours from being perfect. Several times, in about the same place, it has stopped running. When I push the clean button, the voice tells me to check and clean the "cliff sensors". We don't have steps for it to fall down, so I wish I could override those sensors.
All in all, we're extremely happy with our robot. I just hope it can last a long time. And won't it be wonderful when Irobot develops a furniture dusting machine?!?!?
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Heck of a product! Vacuuming under the chairs, under the sofa - Sweet! I hate moving furniture; I didn't just have dust bunnies; I had dust 'killer rabbits'!
Right after purchase my Roomba developed a 'clunk'; turns out I did not realize the pronged yellow bearing on each of the the brushes was removable – after cleaning the accumulated fuzz and hair beneath the bearing, I reinstalled and presto! No clunk. Apparently the fuzz was thick enough to extend the length of the flexible brush and allow it to pop it out of the guide as it rotated producing the “clunk”.
I'm a happy camper now.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I own 2 Roombas before. The 560 is a much better roomba. It is quiet and it doesn't get stuck easily as the previous model. And all parts are easy to dissemble. I spent a lot of them to clean the pet hair stuck inside the front wheel of my previous roombas. Not anymore with the new one. The front wheel can be dissemble so it save me a lot of maintenance time. And the lighthouse works great too.

This is my second Roomba and I Love It. Great for everyday. Scheduling is awesome. Love self docking. Clean everyday is the easiest habit and get the longest use out of your Roomba. GREAT IF YOU HAVE KIDS!!!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Received as Christmas gift from our son. Great gift.Excellant machine. Does miss the corners a bit but not a big deal. We run it everyday whcih helps us a great deal in up keep of home. Unit is a little loud but no more then a normal vacuum. As dumb as this sounds it is like you want to talk to it. Perhaps future units can have voice command?
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Otto came to us a few weeks ago and to tell you the truth, I almost feel sorry for him.
He runs EVERY day on at least 1 room, sometimes 2 or 3 in a run. He has to pick up so much pet hair that it has literally melted the brushes (on a single run). But still he trudges on. Even seems to be getting better and picking up more as time goes by.
If he lasts a year, I will be shocked, but if so, I will be buying several more!! Heck, 6 months would be a pleasant surprise.

My husband and I are just so impressed with our Roomba 500 series that he had me go on line and to my delight, order the scooba. Thanks IRobot
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I am a total geek, and I absolutely love this little "SyNthetic" life-form. It cleans surprisingly well for how small it acutally is and I work all of the time so being able to set it's cleaning schedule and walk away is so very nice. I don't ever have to take time out of my busy schedule to vacuum, ever again!!! I can set the little robot to vacuum on any specific date/time and I do not have to worry about it. Best of all, when I get back home the little robot finds it's "home" charging base to recharge itself and my home has been cleaned without me really doing much of anything.
A new level of pure laziness!!!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I just got my new robot and it works great! My carpets look wonderful and the fact that it goes under furniture is amazing. The only thing that is a downfall is that my dog has it out for the robot. He tries to attack it so I am leary of scheduling it to run when I am not home. Otherwise, I love it!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Picks up dirt & pet hair left behind by Eureka upright. Even cleans out imbedded dirt from grooves in our hardwood floor. Gets under beds, dressers, etc. Two dogs ignore it.
Cons: Be sure to clear room of electric cords. It's bit noisy, bumping into table legs, walls, doors, etc.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love this little product. I got it a few weeks ago, and have not had any problems so far. It is reasonably quiet. My one year old daughter loves to chase Ned around the house. We have a cat and a dog and Ned has no problem with the pet hair.I have Ned scheduled to start at 1pm. three days a week. It has really cut down and almost eliminated sweeping the floors with a broom. To put it best, Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!!!!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Thought this would be a toy...best thing I ever got for myself! With huskies the fuzzy hair was everywhere on my shiny new hardwood floor..now it is entirely gone! Clean brushes and empty dust bin daily, but a simple task and much easier than vacuuming (not to mention a better job) My cat loves to watch him travel around the room...Now if he could only navigate the stairs!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The best part of all is how thoroughly it cleans a floor. I use it every other day and was amazed at all it picks up with 6 cats and 2 dogs.
It's very quiet running, very easy to keep clean and very pet friendly. Our little Lexie barked like crazy at it, at first. But now, they all just watch it as Roamie goes about doing it's thing.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This is great!!! We bought it with intentions of returning it. We just wanted to see if it was as good as advertised. Well it was and then some. It is a part of our family now.
It is so pet friendly. My dog hardly notices it..only when it follows her does she notice. It get stuck on some things like my x mas tree skirt, dont leave phone chargers or other small items that it can pull but other than that its great.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Our old sweeper broke a while back, so my husband did some research on vacuums. We have a Scooba and found that the new Roombas got good reviews, and we decided to try one.
We picked this one up and have loved it ever since. In two weeks it has picked up dust that was under our beds, a marble, a battery, small building blocks, artificial needles from the Christmas tree, and a bunch of dirt. Obviously our vacuum has not been working for a while! We are thinking of purchasing a second one because of the layout of our house.
The only downfall of this product is the accessories. They can be quite expensive. If you need certain things and they come in a particular kit, purchase it! Otherwise you might get nickeled and dimed to death.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I love this roomba. I had high expectations from reading reviews, but wow, it's even better than I thought. If I could only keep my house picked up and clutter free (I have a 1 yr old and 6 yr old), then I would use it even more. I haven't had to vacuum with our dirt devil since I bought this. I hope it lasts a long time. My 6 yr old loves to watch the roomba. He pretend he's trying to battle it.
It's great at picking up cat hair. We have 1 cat who sheds a lot. I think the roomba is even helping keep my husbands asthma at bay. I clean the brushes after every use.
It's not good with our x-mas tree skirt. It sucks it up and I have to pull it out. It's a thin satiny material.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The issue I have is with the side brush, I purchased my Roomba in late Sept of 2007 and already two of the side brushes have broken off.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Having five kids needs tons of work to keep the floors clean. Lola make it very easy, with no complaints and leave the floors and carpets free of dust and small debris... (the kitchen floor is a mess after the 7 of us finish dinner)
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This is a great product. We've owned two previous generation Roombas, and this one blows them all away.
We have all hard flooring in our house with seven kids ages 11 years down to 10 months. Dirt gets everywhere, and you could sweep 10 times a day and not clean effectively enough to keep the 10 month old from getting something off the floor into his mouth! The scheduling ability built into the 560 is fabulous, and makes sure that regular cleaning occurs without question, and the quick battery charge still allows for ad hoc cleaning runs.
The new "Lighthouse" virtual wall technology makes sure we don't have to monitor the Roomba to make sure everything we want covered, gets covered.
The battery life was one of the main drawbacks of previous models, but not this one. The 560 can do 5 rooms on a charge most days.
We will be buying a second 560 for our newly finished basement very soon!
The only drawback is that it is extremely loud. You cannot watch television in the same room the Roomba is running in unless you jack the volume way up. With the scheduler this isn't much of a problem as we run it mostly at night after the kids are in bed.
Great product.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I'm really impressed by the Roomba. I was told i'd need a proper vacuum along with the roomba if i wanted 'clean' floors. I've found the roomba to actually clean up pretty good all by itself. In fact, i'm always surprised at how much dirt it manages to pick up.
Actually, the only problem I see is that I always tend to be late in clearing up its bin cuz i never imagine it'll be full so quickly. I think the bin can be a little bit larger.
Also .. i must admit .. i love the modular design ... it allows me to take out the brushes and clear them off of hair easily. If the hair could go into the bin rather than getting stuck on the brushes .. it'll be a huge help.
Bottom line is ... I dont need to vacuum anymore .. n thats a blessing. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone living in a place without stairs.

Roomba 560 is the greatest time saver since the washer, dryer and dishwasher.
"James" thouroghly cleans the open concept, busy great room daily. This also reduces dust on the furniture and air borne cat hair from my three cats.
No, it does not clean the stairs by itself, but then, no other vac ever did.
I am telling all my friends how great this guy is. Hope he lives a long life.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have wanted an I Robot ever since I saw one several years ago. I had back surgery and am now aproaching 70 so I felt I deserved one. I wish I hadnt waited so long. I sometimes let H run about the house everyday and so far have no negative comments. I love to see those deep cleaning sweeps on the carpet. Before mine recharges I clean out the brushes and lint trap. That is nothing more than I would do for a regular carpet cleaner so I dont consider that a hassel. This is wonderful for all of us senior citizens. My big heavy Hoover sits in the closet while H does all the work.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
i hate the cleaning, but whit the roomba 560 it so easy, it essencial for me.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I just got my roomba yesterday, and he's had two passes already. We have two dogs and two cats and lots of hair on the hardwood floors. He did so great at cleaning I was amazed. I'll have to remember to clean out the bin, since it was full both times. Maybe after regular cleaning, this won't be such an issue. I also need to figure out how to make my cats leave it alone, since I figured that they'd hate it, but it turns out they love it, follow it everywhere and mess with it in the charging base.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
Excellent piece of technology. Save you time and keeps your house clean. I have 2 siberian Huskys and my Roomba runs every day.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
The new features are great: the soft impact, the larger bin, the improved edge tracking. Although I'm a little sad to see much of the jittery personality eliminated, I will not miss the constant banging. With several pets I appreciate being able to schedule a cleaning so that my hardwood floors are clean when I get home. This model (560) is even able to clean our deep pile area rugs that our Discovery couldn't even climb on to. Kudos to the iRobot engineers. Now, how about a massage-bot?

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
I have had my Roomba 560 for nearly a month and my house is much cleaner than before HAL came into our lives. I find myself just standing there watching HAL clean. We have two dogs, a samoyed and a keeshond, both long-haired dogs, and they shed year round. Without frequent vacuuming, our house looks like an angora sweater exploded in it.
With the Roomba, we clean 2-3 times a week. However, the dog's long hair usually causes HAL to stop in mid-cleaning: either the brushes are clogged with hair, or the hair gets into the front swivel wheel causing it to lock up. Either way, I hear the sad error tones, causing me to come running to its rescue. I now laugh at the recommendation that the brushes be cleaned once every three cleanings--I usually have to clean them three times per cleaning.
Don't get me wrong-I think my Roomba is great and I have the same troubles with the brushes on my much more expensive Dyson vacuum cleaner (and that has the additional problem of me having to vacuum!). I'll keep on using HAL to keep my house clean, but I have not yet gotten to the point where I believe that it can clean the rooms without me being around.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
This model is not particularly good at pet hair. I had an older model that was specifically designed for pet hair, and it was pretty good. Two runs would usually clear up bad pet hair. But I ran this thing 5 or 6 times, and it still didn't clean the hair up in a satisfactory manner. I think it's the bristle brush not being as stiff, and perhaps the method it uses to extract the hair from the brush.
Also, it's difficult to justify the extra $100 for this model, when the only perks are that it slows down before hitting things, and it can travel from room to room independently. It might be a little smarter, but that's still a pretty meager reason.
I suppose it would be great for people without pets and only lightly soiled carpets. But you could get an older model cheaper that would work just as effectively.
I hate to knock iRobot, since I believe they have a future. But they really need to improve the performance of their flagship product.
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
We just upgraded our old Roomba to this new one. OMG what a difference, it's definately more quite than the old one. It holds more dirt and you can really tell once the roomba passes my laminate wood floors, the floors are so clean that I don't feel any build-up under my feet. I love how it navigates so much better around the corners and walls, the roomba senses that it's getting close to a wall and slows down, where as the old one over time gets all banged up in the front. We have some fringed area rugs that don't get stuck anymore like the old one does. I have it scheduled to run everyday while I'm at work and the kids are at school. I'm planning to get one for my Mom for Christmas. Never have to do vaccuming myself ever again, thanks Roomba.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
If there were a 6-star option, I would give it. Let me break this down...it cleans while you do other things. Once more, to underscore: IT CLEANS WHILE YOU DO OTHER THINGS. I don't care if it's noisy, (it's a vacuum!). I knew it didn't do steps when I bought it, so I surely can't hold that against it. I have no problem emptying its bin, after all I DIDN'T HAVE TO EXERT ANY ENERGY FILLING IT!!!!!
Clearly, I feel very strongly and very protective of my iRobot, fondly named Robusticus. (Even my 3 year old calls him by name...yes, it's a him.)
I don't have a negative thing to say because my 500 series iRobot takes what used to be a tedius job that I couldn't keep up with as a working mother with toddlers, two dogs, a cat and a messy husband and has made it virtually EFFORTLESS. Effortless, I tell you.
I have it programmed to clean 3x/week, in the early morning WHILE I SLEEP!!!!! No more dust bunnies. No more dog hair on my area rugs (which it navigates on, over and around with ease). And no more lugging out the big MANUAL vacuum to tidy up.
I've been a long-time user, having owned a previous iRobot Scheduler...but these 500-series improvements kick the whole game up a notch.
I am BEYOND thrilled with the product and completely impressed with the new design features. My 560 is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I never asked much from a vacuum. With Robusticus, I don't have to ask for anything at all...it delivers as promised.
(I really hope I'm not the only one this passionate about my iRobot...I know there are others out there. There has to be...this product is just too fabulous. In my estimation, this company is the Apple/Mac of the Robot world and I, for one, can't wait to see what they innovate next.)

We have never owned a Roomba before but after receiving the 560 model, we will never be without a Roomba again. We are already discussing getting one for the upstairs and one for my mother. What a terrific product. We have never written a review before, but this is just too good to not share with everyone. My husband has now volunteered to take over the vacuuming responsibilities. THANKS SO MUCH! WE LOVE IT!
Comments about iRobot iRobot Roomba® 560:
overall a surprisingly effective cleaning tool. unfortunately the spinning edge brush broke after less than 3 days, i'm hoping that this won't be a ongoing problem. i suggest getting the extra brushes.
roomba is great for wood floors and it really grabs pet hair well.
some thicker and loosely woven rugs will occasionally hang it up for a moment but it always gets itself loose.
our cats don't seem to mind it at all and they like to follow it about.

I was in love with my Discovery. This version is a great leap forward, with it's ability to communicate with the lighthouses. I giggled like a little girl when they guided my tired Roomba through the house, back to it's home base. It still vacuums like an idiot would, but now with the scheduling and the room-by-room gate system, it is an efficient idiot. If you have shedding, litter-tracking cats like we do, Roomba is a huge help. To quote my wife "The fact that it vacuums under the bed, makes it worth the price."

Wow, I am totally amazed to hoe iRobot did this! I could not believe how much more advanced they made this Roomba, it seems so much more smart and reliable. I can't believe the technology they put into this, all of the enhancments and improvments. I am so happy iRobot did this, I am a very satisfied costumer! I would give it 4 and a half stars if I could!
