Very rarely gets stuck.

Can set it loose to do a room and come back later to move it.

Can even navigate around chair legs even when all the chairs are pushed in under the dining room table.

When there's something wrong, it literally says so with a human voice and tells you how to correct the problem.

Cons:
Pet hair and dust gets wound around the ends of the spokes for the brush and sweeper, difficult to clean.

If it were just a bit more methodical about how it vacuums, it would complete a room faster with more battery life left for additional rooms.

I have had a Roomba 530 for nearly 2 years now. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. I've had to replace the brush assembly and the battery, but that's not a big deal. Easy maintenance and our dog ignores it to the point that it has run into her.

You can not get rid of your regular vacuum as you will need it to do woodwork and in corners, & steps occasionally. However, my house looks and my back feels so much better!!! Thank you IRobot Roomba!!!!!

Some people clamber about frequent usage, but not only does maintaining Roomba take FAR less time than actually vacuuming once a week, Roomba keeps your floors clean EVERY DAY, and cleaning the Roomba can be done while watching TV or listening to music, which just can't be done while properly vacuuming.

I'm a very busy person, and I needed something to help me with my daily chores. An apartment, as it turns out, does not clean itself, but with Roomba on the job it nearly does.

Aside from this, it also picks up all the cat hair that you probably didn't even know was stuck under your furniture or deep in the carpet. I'm allergic to my cats, but Roomba lets me breath a bit easier.

This is great little invention. My wife just loves them. We bought two, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. Just push the button and get out of the way, go to work, school, etc., and let him do his job. He does amazingly well. Wish we had tried them years ago.

But now it lives with me! i love it. i have had mine for 3 years and it is wonderful. my new puppy plays with it like another animal. likes to try to sneak up on it when it is cleaning. I usually let it run when i leave the house and when i get home my carpets are in great shape. my charger went a while ago so i do have to go looking for it sometimes. but there is no mistaking the noise it makes when it has run out of power. bottom line: it does a great job on my carpets and i don't even have to be home when i put it to work.

We have had our Roomba for three years now, and when Herbie goes to vacuum heaven we will mourn his loss but replace him immediately.

We have to replace the side sweeper and are now replacing the battery, as he is used so much that there isn't much charge left in the poor fella anymore. The iRobot website is useful and easy to order from.

If you have a house where you work full time, have and vacuuming is a chore - spend the money, you will not regret it.

Our house is hardwood and ceramic and occupied by two adults, two kids, two dogs and a fat cat - which equates to alot of dust and dirt. Amazing and gross what gets under the beds in a week.

My cat was initially afraid, but he doesn't move anymore, Herbie bounces around him.

The unit is easy to use, portable, easy to clean and very user friendly. Would and have recommended to friends and family.

It's great to use in one room while you work in another! Thorough cleaning, great on carpets, but still like to use a stonger motor sweeper on it for maintaining. Look forward to getting the scrubber for floors. This would be FANTASTIC for someone who was physically limited. Absolutely easy to clean. I have a lot of arthritis and thishas been of GREAT help! Will be getting one for my Mother! Use it every day for my kitchen and living room! Get it you'll LOVE it!

I loved it from the start. We have two house cats and a bedroom rabbit, so there is fur everywhere. The little guy picks up all of it IF it has the original red bristle brush in. I've had it long enough to have to replace the old red cleaning head module. The new green module seems to be even better, except that the new "easy clean" bristle brush does not pick up fur well - just brushes it into "pretty swirls" and leaves it right on the rug. So I keep using the old brush, which works great.
- You do have to clean fur from the brushes often if you have pets. If you run it frequently, you can do a whole room without its stopping and nagging you to clean them.
- I recommend getting the high-capacity bin.
- It is loud on bare floors.
- It doesn't clean well when it has to transition from bare floors to a thick rug.
- It takes a long time to finish, but so what - it's not me spending all that time vacuuming!
- It's saving my back.
I give it four, rather than five, stars because of the floor-to-rug problem and the unasked-for and unliked change in the design of the bristle brush. Nevertheless, I'd really hate to have to do without it.

We use Gary one room at a time. I have had mine for two years, I bought it at Canadian Tire in Canada. This Christmas we bought two more, one for each grandmother. The only thing I do not like is I have to order parts like brushes online and not from the local store I bought it from. We have a busy household, 4 kids and 3 pets and it frees up my time!

Biff's 1st birthday is coming up, and we're buying him a new brush kit. He's not fond of the edges of area rugs, especially when one wheel is on the rug and the other wheel is on the floor. Bits of this 'n that remain along the edge of the rug. I do need to rearrange the furniture for Biff to access certain areas--his hips are wider than he thinks. My parrot screams "Avast! That's enough!" whenever Biff comes near her cage, but it's all good clean fun. Biff has a friend across the street, named Bob. We need to schedule a play date sometime...

I absolutely LOVE my irobot! I raise and train German Shepherds so it is not uncommon to have 6-8 dogs in the house. And yes, people used to think I had carpet when it was actually dog hair on my hardwood floors! But not anymore! I don't know what I would do without Sophia! I believe she saved my marriage!! I think the final straw was the dog hair in the ice cube! But seriously, the vacuum is fantastic. It was so good I ran out and bought myself a scooba as well!

I should have replaced my husband with my Roomba long time ago. It cleans the house everyday and it never complains. It is the best $ that I have ever spent.
The only issue that I have with it is that I sometimes can't locate it after operation. But, I live in a large home so it has a hard time finding its way back to the charger.
I wish this model had a handle for easier transportation.

I have 2 kids and 2 cats. Roomba picks up everything that they drop. Cat hair, Cheerios, winter grit and so far everything else that has been on any of my floors. My 2yr old loves Roomba too. She talks to it like it's her friend. The cats aren't bothered by him at all either. They don't even seem to notice Roomba driving around. He's not any louder than my dishwasher. Certainly much quieter than my conventional vacuum.

We usually use it 2 to 3 times a week- the only hassle is cleaning bits of paper and string off of the floor. We have to do a lot of pickup before letting him loose- but that's our own issue! :)
The roomba works well- better than others I've owned. It finds dirt where I had no idea there was any, and I just love emptying the bin to see what it got each time!
We live in Arizona, so there is a fine coating of dust on everything just about every day- this really gets it all!

I just bought the 530 model and got the 400 series for free as part of a good sale. I just moved to DC and I used the 530 model here in my small temp apartment and it seems to pick up pretty well. I have a combination of tile and some overlapping area rugs and it managed to go over them all. Also there's approximately a 1/2 inch rise where the kitchen tiles start and it managed to climb up and down that by itself. This place is pretty small and cluttered but I was amazed at all the places it managed to go. obviously I could do it a lot quicker if I just got off my butt and used the handheld but where's the fun in that. I have two small dogs and they seem to give off loads of little black hairs, I wish I had bought this sooner to help sweep up after them on a daily basis. I haven't even touched the 400 model yet. I'm still deciding whether to give it away for Christmas or keep it for when I move into my permanent housing. I would give it five stars but I haven't had it long enough to be a reliable judge at this point and ofcourse there's always going to be a few areas it's going to miss unless you follow along and move furniture.

We received the vacuum as a present about a year ago. I was really skeptical at first. I thought there was no way that this vacuum would work as well as a standard vacuum. I was wrong. The vacuum blows away conventional vacuums. It gets under your bed, under tables etc. It really cleans the house better than I could have ever thought. We have a 28 year old son. We kid him and say that this is the good kid. Also the technical service provided by iRobot is unbelievable. They really stand behind their products.

Even though this Roomba is not "designed" specifically for pet hair, it does an amazing job. I have a Siberian Husky and we have gone through several vacuums, even ones especially for pet hair. You can never get all the hair and dirt out of the standard vacuum, but the Roomba is a 3 min clean up and it picks up 2x as much as my old vacuum. Best part is that I dont have to spend my time pushing around a heavy vacuum or carry it up and down stairs, then spend 30 min cleaning it. The Roomba does 1 floor, then I take it to the next and it just keeps going. The Roomba even tells you when the wheels need to be cleaned. My battery lasts long enough to do about 1200 sq. Ft. at a time and it charges really quickly.

Our Roomba530 became instantly indisposable with the first use. A family of four with two middle school aged boys, five cats, two dogs, and a 2500 sq ft house and only one parent physically able to do cleaning tasks, we were immediately AWED by the ability of this savvy robot. The description of the 530's abilities are "spot on" and really amazing! We bought our first 530 as a gift for my mother who was post-op recovery and unable to do any physical activity for six weeks. She was amazed at the "deep cleaning" of her Roomba530 and proudly invited guests into a clean house despite her limitations. We will be adding the larger sweeper bin and an extra set of brushes to decrease "down time" for cleaning these parts. And, may consider adding one of the new pet models to use in the parts of the house frequented by our large animal family. Also, a Scooba is already on our wish list! LOL!

My new 530 is SO(!) much better than my old Discovery. I've had it for 2 months now and finally nerved myself up to clean it thoroughly for the first time. I wasn't looking forward to this because my cleaning process for the Discovery took 20-30 minutes and involved damp rags, scissors, a comb, an X-Acto knife, and numerous damp cotton swabs to get rid of all the hair, fuzz and dirt stuck everywhere underneath and inside. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that other than a little hair and lint wrapped around the brushes, there was almost no other gunk anywhere in my 530, due to the panel that seals off the undercarriage (Way to go, iRobot!). And the round hair-removal tool is AWESOME! I had no idea it would work so well.

I also think the 530 cleans much more thoroughly than the Discovery ever did, and it charges so fast that I can clean 3 large rooms a day, even though the battery needs to be recharged after each room. But all things considered, my overall favorite feature is definitely THE HANDLE!

I received this as a gift for Christmas and it was one of the best gifts I have ever received! I don't even own an upright vacuum anymore - just my Roomba and a handheld for my car and the stairs. I love my robot because it makes vacuuming so much easier and convenient! I can let it run and read, dust or cook dinner and not have to waste time vacuuming. I now vacuum 3 times as much as I did before because I didn't want to drag out the large upright. The cleaning ability of the Roomba is great! It is amazing the dirt it picks up! It picks up cat litter from the carpet, cat hair, and even the glitter that spilled on the carpet (though I did have to do two passes with the spot cleaning feature - not a big deal since you just have to push a button). It is very quiet compared to an upright vacuum. My cat doesn't run and hide every time it is on - she actually continues to sleep while it is going and I can watch TV with it vacuuming. I also love my Roomba because as well as being functional it is stylish so I can leave it out and it doesn't look ugly or out of place. The only downsides (beside the stairs issue) is that I have to frequently clean out the brushes because it picks up so much of my long hair that it clogs up the brushes, it occasionally gets stuck on cords and the brush cleaning tool isn't that great. I solved the brush cleaning tool issue by using an inexpensive sewing seam ripper instead to get out the hair wrapped around the bearings and brushes. And even though it clogs with my hair it is still easy to clean the brushes. I have never had a vacuum that was so easy to clean the brushes and I love that just about all the parts are self-serviceable so you can replace them or clean them and not have to pay for a vacuum cleaner service to clean it out or repair it for you. If my robot ever dies, I will be on the website in a heartbeat to order a new one! Awesome, awesome, awesome product!!!

This is the 2nd Roomba I've owned. The first was an older model that lost it's charge and it was cheaper to buy a new model. I've select the 530. I have had one problem with this one....the side brush feet keep breaking off. I'm talking in less than 10 runs, the side brushes broke off one by one. It had six and I can only purchase a brush with three. What gives and why would they break off in less than 10 runs? I'm very disappointed that the little machine is so expensive and yet parts are flying off. Help! It doesn't do such a good job without side brushes! However, it does pick them up when they break off. : 0 )

This Roomba is awesome! Only two problems it has are occassionally getting stuck and not picking up larger debris on carpets. Otherwise, it is a great time save, and it is hassle free. I just dump the bin after it is done, and clean the brushes every few months. I don't own any other vacuum and it keeps my floors looking great.

Before I purchased Sweeps [530], I would vacuum the house 2 or more times a day and carry a cordless vac around to do clean-ups after the dogs. Now, all I do is push the magical button "CLEAN" and Sweeps is off to clean-up after the dogs, cat and 2 boys. He keeps the house cleaner than I could ever hope to and never complains. I have him clean when I leave in the morning, then when I come home he is on his charger ready to go again. I don't know how I ever lived without him.

I use to do light vacuuming twice a week in between infrequent regular vacuuming, once a month. Does well with electric cords. Not too loud, hardly ever needs help, occasional hangups under swivel rockers. Great job under beds, couches, etc.

I bought the 530 more for it's 'tech' value than it's cleaning ability. The latter quickly became the reason I fell in LOVE with Berta though.

Our home is mostly hardwood and tile, with short pile carpet in the bedrooms. Being an older, dusty home with several hair-shedding pets, I was hopeful that Berta would help a little with the flying dust and hair that seemed to cover everything constantly.
I quickly found out that our old upright vac was blowing around as much as it was picking up!

The Roomba has decreased the dust around the home more than I could ever have imagined. The dirt that it picks up, and the frequency that it cleans (it's so easy just to press the button and walk away) has all but eliminated the dust on tables, the TV screen and every other surface that used to be a problem.

Cleaning the unit won't take any longer than a powered stick vac, and is really simple. You'll be amazed how much this robot picks up, even when run daily!!! The dust cup is plenty big, and the vacuum is plenty powerful. Works great on my tile floors too. Just make sure you pull the yellow 'bearings' off the brushes, and clean the hair out each time you empty the cup.

I would never have believed that a little robot like this would have this big of an impact on our home. If this one 'dies', I'll run right out and buy another.

It is very easy to use, but it really doesn't go DEEP down in your carpet. The best place to use it is on hard wood floor, and tile floor. The rubber thing that protects it from banging into the wall is falling off, we try to glue it on, does not work, there is a hole in the beater brush, I still have to use an upright, ant i did an experiment. I put Lisa (My Roomba) in a REALLY dirty area, and, yes it did pick up some fur and s*it and stuff. But i used my Dyson animal upright vacuum, and MY GOSH, it picked up a lot more dirt then Lisa (My Roomba) did.

Our Roomba helps us to get more cleaning done, though we do not run her when no one is home just in case she gets stuck or her battery dies without being able to reach the charging station (this has happened when she isn't in line-of-sight!) Even running her only when someone is home, we can shower, do the dishes, dust, and even cook while she's cleaning the floors (carpet,hardwood, and tile) -- and our floors have never looked better!

She hates our large black rug, can't get under and around our low-clearance/oddly-shaped furniture, and the shorter battery life can be frustrating, but she lets us clean more than we could without her in a shorter amount of time! She also cleans under the bed and chairs, which I HATED doing with a regular vacuum AND she cleans deeper than any vacuum we've ever had!

If you ask me, maintenance is the key and it's only a small commitment to keep our baby in tip-top shape! We clean the brushes, empty the bins/filters, and even dust in the bins and around the front every time she finishes a room. It's a bit of a task, but we'd rather do that than replace brushes or parts too often!

It helps a lot when we use the Virtual Wall to keep her in smaller spaces to increase battery and cleaning efficiency (so she doesn't go roaming, though she did escape under an armchair once!). It takes a little longer to mover her from room to room but overall I think she does a better job in smaller spaces. And we don't mind moving the kitchen chairs or dusting the moldings (which she obviously can't reach!) to help her out -- overall, I'm really happy with my purchase!

I get up in the morning grab my coffee and turn it on. I don't have to take the time to sweep the ceramic tile floors anymore. I have a busy schedule and this allows me to Multi-Task without having to do the work. The only downfall it can get stuck on the lower kitchen cabinets.

I used the heck out of this thing when I first got it. I have cleaned it before every use, and I have taken very good care of it. It lasted 2 months after I bought it before it broke down completely. I sent it back for an in-warranty exchange, and it worked fine for about another 8 months. Then the battery started getting weak and would only last for about 10 minutes, so I had to order a new one. Then the brushes started falling apart, so I ordered new ones. Then the robot would clean for about 5 minutes and stop, saying "Please remove and clean the brushes." The brushes were squeaky clean. iRobot sent me new brushes, but the problem kept occurring. Then the bristle brush would not rotate at all during cleaning. iRobot customer support graciously is sending me a new housing, even though the warranty is up. I am waiting on the new housing. Hopefully this fixes it. For the months that I wasn't having to order new parts, it worked great. But I feel like I have to order parts for it all the time. They are handy, but definitely not built for longevity.

Overall an excellent, time saving machine. The biggest problem with it is in the gearbox on the cleaning head module, which these problems are well descrbibed on the internet.

The gearbox is badly designed. Hair/dust... will fill it up, eventually causing the brush/beater to stop working. The fundamental error of the design is in using the gears which have metal spinning rods secured by a plastic plate that is on the gear box. The plastic is too susceptible to being eroded by the gears and eventually you will need to replace it.

The other issue is that you will need to frequently open the gear box and clean out the debris.

Some people have modded their gearbox to a ball-bearing design, which iRobot released one version of. This would seem to be much more durable.

The only negative in an otherwise great product...

Is Roomba the greatest thing since sliced bread? Yup. I think so. I'd rather slice my own bread than give up my Roomba. Simple as that.I live alone in a rather large two-story house with four bedrooms and three baths, along with two very furry cats and a dog that won't stop shedding. Needless to say, my place needed constant vacuuming, usually once a day. And if I left for a long weekend, the place would be a disaster when I returned. Not so with Roomba. I just push the button every morning as I leave and the house is cleaned when I get home. I have extensive hardwood floors, tile floors, wall-to-wall carpeting and throw rugs. The Roomba adjusts for all surfaces and cleans them equally well. No problem. And my oriental rugs with fringe aren't an issue with Roomba's anti-tangle capability. In short, it's an enormous timesaver and well worth the money.Some have complained that the Roomba isn't as powerful as a regular canister or upright. True. Its suction is roughly the equivalent of an old Dust Buster. But it's very effective nonetheless because of an ingenious combination of brushes underneath that pop the dirt up and into the debris bin without the need of a powerful vacuum. Furthermore, the combination of vacuum and brushes can suck up debris the size and weight of most coins along with large clumps of mud and tangles of pet hair, perfectly adequate for most home needs. Others have complained that the Roomba is noisy. Not at all. In fact, it's far quieter than my regular vacuum--again, it's about as noisy as a battery-powered handheld vacuum. Still others maintain that it takes too much maintenance. Well, I haven't had any problems with my Roomba, and I've been using it almost daily for four months. Yes, you do have to clean it regularly. Unlike a canister vacuum that you can shut off and ignore, you may want to clean your Roomba almost every time. But the five minutes or so I spend emptying the debris bin and cleaning the roller bushes is nothing compared to spending an hour or two vacuuming the old way.Things to be aware of: Be sure to clean the roller brushes thoroughly. I had trouble initially when my brushes stopped working after only a few weeks. I thought, "Oh, boy. Here we go. A faulty machine." But no. It was my fault. After calling the Roomba service line, I discovered that I hadn't read the instructions carefully and failed to clean the bearings on the side of the roller brushes. The bearings eventually became clogged with pet fur and stopped turning, causing my rollers to freeze up. After a little cleaning, the rollers were working again like new. Lesson learned.I'm also careful to block off rooms I don't want vacuumed so my Roomba can do a more thorough job on those rooms I do want cleaned. You can either use the two battery operated "virtual walls" that come with the unit to prevent the Roomba from entering a room, or just close the doors. I usually rotate between my family room, kitchen and hallways in one cleaning; the dining room, living room and library in the next. I also use my Roomba upstairs to clean the bedrooms and baths in a similar rotation. Again, such rotations may seem like a lot of work to clean the whole house, but I'd much rather spend the minute or two moving my Roomba between the upstairs and downstairs than to spend an hour or more vacuuming.Sure, Roomba can't do stairs and it can't quite reach into the corners. But while my Roomba is busy cleaning the rest of my house, I can take the few minutes to vacuum the stairs and hit the corners with the regular vacuum. Again, a huge time savings. Do the pets mind? Not at all. After running it the first time, my cats and dog became completely bored and now ignore it whenever it's working. It doesn't bother them in the least.I bought the 530 model have been absolutely delighted with it. And though I don't have the lighthouses to guide it back to its recharging station, my Roomba usually finds its way back all by itself anyway. And if it doesn't and runs out of juice somewhere else, it's hardly a chore to move it back to its base for recharging. After a couple of hours or so, it's fully charged and ready to go again. While I haven't timed it, I'd guess my Roomba runs for at least 90 minutes, maybe longer. I think the battery may run down faster if the brushes are full of cat hair. So I'm careful now to clean the brushes every time.After a while, it just becomes a habit to turn on my Roomba every time I leave the house. It's such an amazing convenience and it actually works. My girlfriend, who has terrible allergies, has noticed how much cleaner my house is now. And while my Roomba doesn't have a HEPA filter, its filter does pick up an amazing amount of dust--making the entire house much more breathable and dust-free.Like a lot of people, I was fairly skeptical when I first invested in my Roomba. But I'm not anymore. This is an amazing machine that does exactly as advertised. And I am thrilled at how easy it is to operate and maintain, and how simple it is to develop an entirely new vacuuming routine.Any drawbacks? Well, wouldn't it be wonderful if my Roomba could do stairs? Or reach those corners? Or make my bed? Or do the laundry? Or clean the dishes? Sure. But as it is, it's simply great--and well worth the investment. I can recommend this machine enthusiastically.

I love my Rosie! I had a first generation model that lasted about 3 1/2 years and wore it out.
I got a new 530 and still love it. I really like the edge cleaning brush. I want the Scuba next. I have lots of birds and they get lots of seed on the floor. Rosie does a great job of cleaning up.
I did a test one time by vacuuming with my regular vacuum first then set Rosie out to see if she would pick up anything else. When I opened up the collection bin it looked like I didn't even vacuum.
Yes it can get stuck. If you have cabinets or a dresser or something that is a little closer to the ground it can wedge itself under trying to clean, but will beep and shut itself off if it can't get out.
It's quiet, my dogs don't mind it and I like that I can multi-task while my floors are being vacuumed. This is a wonderful invention, will always have one as long as they are made. Anyone that sees mine and asks me about it; it's funny because I talk worlds about it like I was a sales rep. Kudos to iRobot!

OK, I am one of those guys to whom "housework" is a four letter word. This is the second Roomba to my home, other is a Red. This one cleans very well, gets areas I may not be able (or be too lazy) to clean. It's great at keeping pet hair in check... along with those pesky dust bunnies! My only gripe is that the brush does get full of hair, but it's more manageable once Roomba started cleaning more frequently. Cleaning the brush (and other parts) is also A LOT easier to clean than other Roombas (upright vacs too) ... only takes a few seconds.

We have 3 dogs (two giant) plus 3 cats & a parrot. It not only picks up the pet hair but is a wonder around the birdcage. It cleans our wood floors & rugs better than a human & the area under the beds now stays clean. It's quick & easy to clean the brushes (& surprisingly not yucky)--the extra set was a great idea. We've had it about a month & I still marvel at what great job it does...at about the same price as a premium vacuum cleaner. We named it after a whirlwind of a housekeeper we once had. It was my Christmas present from my hubby. We all sat around & watched it run the first time for about 1/2 an hour. It was so cool! It does a great job getting the floors clean & the dog hair up. I found that if you set up the virtual walls and only do one room at a time it does a better job. you also have to do a thourough job cleaning the irobot like pulling the little plastic guide with the bearing in them off the end of the rollers and clean the lint that gets trapped there, if left will make the rollers noisy. It is very easy to clean and beats manual vacuuming. Oh yes I have pets and it does a great job.

I have had Robot Maid for just under a year. I wanted to wait to write a review so it would be fair. I am in love with my robot maid. I nanny 2 toddlers in my home and I have 2 cats. Robot Maid has saved me invaluable time. My biggest complaint is that the storage bin needs to be cleaned after each room. The statement that it only needs to be cleaned after every 3 uses is a total lie. Sometimes, if the girls and I have been playing extra hard I'll have to clean to bin twice before a room is finished. Still, at least I'm not spending my time vacuuming. I use Robot maid every single day. The customer service line is amazing. I've never said that about a customer service line ever. I called in twice. Once was just a little issue about getting my robot back together and the other time my robot would run for 2 minutes and beep at me saying "please remove and clean roomba's brushes" eventhough I just did. I was connected immediately and they were able to assess the situation over the phone in a matter of minutes. They mailed me a whole new back end of my robot no quesitons asked. I got it within a week. They also e-mail you a summary of what was disussed on the phone. I wouldn't give up my robot for anything and eventhough I saved for 6 months to buy one, it was totally worth it. My husband and I are able to watch TV at the end of the day while a robot vacuums for us.It's amazing how gross your floors are even when you clean them every day. Robot gets dirt from everywhere.

I recently got my Roomba as a birthday gift. It does a wonderful job on my hardwoods and carpeted floors! When my husband and I first used it, we followed it around like proud parents watching thier child take it's first steps! (With a toddler though you often wish for the days when they were still only crawling.) Not our Ronby. We were amazed how easily he transferred from hardwoods, tile, and carpet to going over rugs and cords. We are so happy with his performance. He has made our lives so much easier. With all I have to do, it is nice to know vacuuming is no longer one of them. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of getting one.

OMG. A co-worker recommended Alice and I must say my husband thought this was a crazy idea--nothing vacuums your house--he thought. Well he is now sold. Alice has become the newest and most favorite member of our family. Even the dog doesn't mind Alice--well only if Alice gets near Lady's food bowl. I vacuum everyday and when Alice came home, I let the vacuuming go for the day and for Alice to charge overnight. Having a dog (Beagle) you need to vacuum everyday and this would actually prove to my husband that Alice would become a great assest in our household. Way to go Alice. People even stated that Alice would not do black or dark carpets--Well my Alice did both black and navy blue carpets and cleaned them remarkably. Overall a great product. We've been using Ruby for over 4 months now and are very satisfied with him. The only drawbacks are that with our cats shedding so much fur, we occasionally need to do some surgery on Ruby to clear his insides, maybe once a month, but nothing major. Ruby also finishes a little early before he's completely done but its not a big deal, we just tell him to clean it again. Overall an excellent product.

I bought the 532 Pet Series and the 530 Series, and I can't be more thrilled. My house has constant traffic from kids in the neighborhood, lots of dirt carried in, and a lab that sheds constantly. I bought it to eliminate the on-going battle with my kids to sweep and vac the floors weekly(wood,tile,carpet, and terrazo). I have been running it non-stop the past week, and still amazed with the level of deep cleaning and what it picks up. I have even swept after it, to see what it left behind(minimal). My house smells fabulous. I wish I could sell them door to door, like back in the day. Forget what anyone says about the noise, you can talk at a normal level, compare that to your current vac cleaner. My only concern is that I am so hooked, that I worry they will discontinue replacement parts or go out of business, and I will be left with running a traditional vac. You have got to get one, or two..

Works great to find the dirt along base boards and under furniture. Even picked up a dog treat that was forgotten. Does great picking up hair, carpet lint, dust bunnys etc. Roomba at times will miss items. Sometimes does get stuck. When running I wish this model 530 would return to its base to self charge when power nears empty. Always need to pick up the 530 when power is drained and place on charging base when not around. Bad part of this is when the unit power discharges under furniture and then it becomes a search party for the 530.
One thing to point out is you need to always clean out the unit after each run. The hair and carpet lint wraps around the brush wheels and greatly builds up if cleaning is not performed. Does it help out I would say yes, but since we just started to use the 530, I question the time for maintenance and the replacement parts cost to determine the Roomba 530 over all value and helpfulness.

I have wanted one since they first came out, and three weeks ago, I treated myself and bought it. All I can say is 'where have you been all my life gorgeous?"...I love it soooo much. It gets into places that could not be accessed without moving furniture. And frankly, after seeing the stuff that was on the filter, I'm disgusted with my old upright. I never dreamed that there was so much stuff left in my carpets. Yuk!! Now, I sit and do my nails and watch TV while Max does the work. Just call me Judy Jetson!!
I also took him to work one night, because we have two floors that need to be cleaned. So while I worked downstairs, Max took care of the upstairs hardwood in the media room, and then into the carpeted library. He cut my workload in half. I showed my boss, and he says we may have to get an army of them to keep the manor house clean. All in all, best money I ever spent.

This is the best cleaning product I have ever bought. I am always looking for short-cuts and things that will do the cleaning for me. I have always been disapointed. Even dishwashers and washing machines need filling, emptying and putting away. Even that shower cleaning thingy was a let down.


But with Wally I just push the button and off he goes. I have a dog that sheds like you wouldn't believe. The first time I used Wally I had not vacumed in 5 day (Hey, I work all week). Wally had no problem handling the mess in my house.

Bravo IRobot for making such an excellent product. I can hardly wait to get a Scooba. Would get one today but hubby is watching me carefully !

We recently installed hard wood floors, and as luck would have it I had surgery the week following and could not clean my beautiful floors. My sister came to my rescue and loaned me Velma, her Roomba 530. The first day Velma cleaned I was really freaked out at the amount of dirt she picked up, it was disturbing to know how dirty my new floors had gotten in such a short time, even though we don't walk on them with shoes from the outside, only house shoes. The cat does go in and out of the back yard, but that is the only inside pet we have. So I had Velma clean one part of the house one day and then the other part the next day. On the 3rd day, I sent her back to do the first part, and it was amazing the amount of dirt she picked up after skipping one day of sweeping. She even went on top of the area rugs, one under the dining room table and one in the laundry area by the back door, which is our main entry/exit to the house. We have a small farm, so we do track a lot of dirt into that room, but our outside shoes are either left there or on the porch and inside shoes are put on.
I was so impressed, I have just ordered my own Roomba, the 580 model, and I ordered the 380 Scooba. My sister also has the Scooba, Big Daddy is his name, and she says she doesn't know what she did without either. She has several cats and the pet hair was out of conctrol. She purchased her Roomba 530 from an outside retailer and didn't realize there was even a pet model available, maybe she will get one from Santa.
I have already named my Roomba Rosie, after a robot maid on a popular cartoon when I was growing up. Most people don't know she had a boyfriend, his name was Mack and that is what I've named my Scooba. We also purchased the Dirt Dog for my craft room, I do a lot of wood work and there is a lot of sawdust. I believe we will call him Cosmo, I believe this is the name of another robot on the same show, but I have to do a little more research.
I can't tell people how awesome this product really is, you really have to see it to believe it. I can't wait to get mine. We have started cutting out some wooden risers for the furniture that they won't fit under.
I guess the only real con I would have is my kitchen cabinets are going to be a little short for Mack, but I've already told my husband he will need to get to work cutting or sanding whatever he needs to do to make it work.
Oh, the little brushes that spin to get in the cracks by the floor and the 1/4 round is an awesome idea, that is such a pain to clean, and I'm a bit of a clean freak, you have to be living on a farm, or the inside starts to smell like the outside, and that's no fun for anyone.

Just a great little machine. I bought it two years ago and never had any regrets.The only thing i wish it had was..1. more powerful suction (but that would make it louder)2. quieter operation (but that would decrease suction power)3. better brush combs. It can pick up everything, but when dog hair collects on the brushes...it's almost useless until you clean them.4. some kind of guidance system. This thing takes about a half an hour to clean one room since i just goes about randomly, and not in a set pattern. Like maybe some kind of paint or tape stips on the floor?All-in-all, a wonderul little machine. For it's price, I'm very happy with it. We bought the irobot over Christmas 2008 and already have trouble with the battery life. It will clean for about 15 minutes then stop. We keep the brushes very clean and frequently empty the small debris container. It is fantastic when it works but is very frustrating to have to recharge so much. I am not sure I would recommend spending the money.

Roomba does a good job. Was disappointed it would not vacum my living room rug. Other than that it vacums and gives me freedom to do other things. The side brush did come off in less than a month, which I felt was poor workmanship. Picks up houseplant leaves among other things I would not have thought it would do!For the price, I just hope it last, cause I love to ride my horse and know my floor are being vacumed!!

I adore my Roomba but HE is very high maintenance.My two daughters and I all have long hair and I have to unwind hair from the brushes every few minutes. But, I also have three dogs and a cat and every time I use my Roomba there is a lot of pet fur in the waste bin so I keep using it. I can never leave the house expecting it to do a whole room or a complete cycle on its battery due to the hair issue and the fact it does get stuck quite frequently. Wish I could overcome these two problems because it does a fabulous job - even picking up more hair after I have used my central vac - and I recommend it to all my friends.

I just bought my unit on Sunday. Have used it a couple of times and it is too cool. My bed frame is low to the floor, so I can not use a conventional vaccum cleaner. MO (remember wall-e?) is a member of our familly, everyone loves it. we have a dog and 2 kids, and I don't think our home was ever so clean. he goes to work every evening, or at least every other day, and I can't imagine how we lived without it. it vacuums the first floor (only hardwood though) on a single charge, it goes from living to dining and master bedroom no problem. needless to say, when I recover a toy from under the bed it doesn't come out with 1cuft of dog hair :)
it's amazing how much dirt can pick up, now when I wash the floor I never need to pass the mop a second time, really!
if it could only climb the stairs, cleanup the kids toys and empty his bin when full :)

I received my Roomba as a gift, kind of like a unique toy, from my husband. We both love watching 'Ms.Roomba' as she cleans. It is so amazing to watch and see how it maneuvers around furniture and walls.
I decided to see how much 'she' really cleans, so I used another vacuum after my Roomba had finished. The vacuum that I used has a dirt sensor with a red light that comes on if it detects dirt. To my utter surprise the red light did not come on at all!

I purchased my first Roomba in 2007 after borrowing one from a friend to see how it worked. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Roomba and continue to sing its praises to everyone I know (and have even been known to do a little demonstration from time to time!). I use it mostly in carpeted rooms, but have used it with great success on tiled floors as well. What prompted me to write this review was an experience I had just a couple of days ago. We removed all our Christmas decorations from the family room and I decided I wanted to vacuum the room before getting it back in order. Instead of going to get my Roomba, I dragged out the big upright vacuum--it was closer and I figured I'd do a "good" job and get it done quickly. I spent a good deal of time in the room, moving tables that are too low to the ground to get under, etc. After I finished, I thought it would be interesting to run my Roomba and see if I did a good job with my upright. I could not believe my eyes when I opened the bin to empty it! It was full--as if I hadn't vacuumed at all. Don't get me wrong--I do not live in filth and my Roomba runs regularly (incidentally, the carpet in that room is only a year old!). I live in a quad-level and the family room is on the lower level and seems to get pretty dusty, even with regular cleaning. Don't let the size fool you--this machine has great suction and gets the deep down gunk that you can't even see. Trust me! For those of you who own a Roomba, try it! Vacuum with your old upright and then set Roomba free. You'll be amazed. For those of you who don't yet own a Roomba...what are you waiting for?! Order one NOW! You won't be sorry!! 25 years ago, I told my husband: "We should invent a robot that vacuums for me." A fan of the Star Wars movies, I was having R2D2 thoughts. Well IRobot did it and though I cannot talk to it, it has met all my expectations. I also own Scooba which I really love. No more mopping - the dream of a woman! When I asked my husband to buy it - it did not take him long to make up his mind. He thought of how many times he mopped (zero time) since we got married 28 years ago and it was sufficient for him to realize I deserved it. Ha!

I usually turn Florence on when I run errons, when I get back she's usually finished and has already self docked. The only thing I would change is to add a bigger debris bin. I have had Florence for amount a year. I would live to have two more, one for upstairs and one for down stairs.

This was the best gamble I put my money on. My husband was a big disbeliever and is now totally a believer in this product... this has even peeked his curiosity into the other irobots! It is a little loud but much quieter than my Dyson Animal Series, my 10 month old daughter loves when Jarvis is running and isn't afraid of him :) cat and three Shar-Pei just steer clear of him :) The only thing we didn't know before we bought Jarvis was he doesn't like black rugs, he thinks it is a cliff and will fall. So if you have primarily black or black patterned rugs he might not work for you. We bought new rugs from Turkey as we were upgrading our rugs anyway. We love it!

Nice! Left it running in my home office while we went to dinner and came back to nicely vacuumed room. As soon as I opened the door, it headed out into the living room. My dogs are curious but not scared of it like with the upright vacuum and it is not as loud either. I think this unit will be a nice compliment to my upright and cleans under chairs and tables where I can't reach. It couldn't find the docking base even when placed in it's vicinity but that is a minor issue. Maybe next time! Perhaps there is a "learning curve"

Our problem is when it gets stuck in areas we don't anticipate. I don't bend as well as I used to and getting on my hands and knees to retrieve is a pain. Needs a signal emitter so we can easily find.

But, it beats slinging a corded vacuum around.

I have a townhouse. I bought two Roomba, one for each floor. The fact I can activate it when I leave the house and return to a vacuumed floor/carpet is great! It isn't perfect, but the benefits outweigh the cons... which include: I think cleaning it is a hassle, and yes, it does get stuck under my furniture at times.

Fortunately when the parts broke that operated the brushes, my Robot was still under warranty. The side brush is still flimsy and the screw loosens, causing the brush to fly off. When everything is working it cleans hardwood floors well.

We have two dogs and a cat and two hard working Roombas! I think the biggest drawback is how frequently they have to be cleaned, but these machines have improved the quality of our lives so much! We have a dog and two cats. Our dog attacks a regular vacuum but none of the animals mind the Roomba moving around the house. Our robot has been with us for four months now. We have a two story house with all hardwood or tile floors. Because you need to use it everyday for it to do well you really need a fleet of them. Roomba does a good job of cleaning large area rugs and does not get tangled in the fringe however it has a tendance to "clean" its brushes on the edge of the rugs leaving small piles of animal hair behind. I would strongly suggest keeping a supply of filters on hand because they only last two months. I do recommend it for daily up keep as it does well with dust bunnies under furniture (which is my favorite thing since I am to lazy to do that regularly with a big vacuum) but you still need a regular vacuum for a thorough cleaning of your home (ie. furniture, lamp shades, stairs, etc).

I love my 530, and now also own a 560.

Initially, I was a huge fan of the Roomba. It worked flawlessly, and seemed indestructible (and with 2- and 5-year olds around, it needed to be). Then I got a large dog with a shedding problem, and the hair got into the gearbox and clogged it up. At that point I wasn't so sure I could recommend it to friends. Reliability matters, and I didn't want them to think I had suckered them.

The big news is the updated cleaning head module, which very effectively seals the gearbox from dog hair. They've also addressed the other major (though relatively minor) problem - the side brushes which kept breaking off arms. And as a bonus, the new gearbox ships with redesigned brushes that are much easier for me to keep clean.

I can once again unreservedly recommend the 500 series robots (and in fact am giving three of them as Christmas gifts - I bought them used, but have updated them with the new cleaning heads, burshes, and side brushes). Congratulations to iRobot, not only for their ability to produce a fantastic cleaning machine (it really does work unbelievably well), but also for their ability to respond to problems that didn't show up during the initial design and testing phases.

I have a Kirby and a TriStar vacuum. I thought, how can this little thing be better than them? It IS! The fine, dusty dirt that it picks up amazes me every time it runs. It picks up so much that my carpet actually is 'puffier' now - it lifts the carpet piling and it feels like new carpet again. I have 4 cats and 2 dogs and this tiny thing works its butt off. Much better than I could do - that's because it works over the area many more times than I would ever. I love it! Really works, I was doubtful, but now am a believer. This is a great device. The last thing I do before I go to work everyday is set Robbie free. What a relief to come home to clean, dust free floors. No vacuuming needed on the weekends. That is huge. The kids (3) love Robbie too. Great addition to the house, I only wish it could cook !!!

I have been curious about this vac for quite some time. So I decided to try it out. I used to own a cleaning business so I was skeptical. But it has proved me wrong. I LOVE it. It has made my life much easier. I leave for work and it vacs while I'm at work. I come home to a pet hair free home. I love it. It does not get stuck and it really does a great job. We are buying one for our office to clean when we leave. I also got the scooba to mop. You must get it also. It does a fantastic job. I loves these robots!! Now I just need one to mow the lawn :-)

WOW! As VP of sales, i travel a lot but my home is always perfect. I have 3 robot's (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs) all on schedule timers. my wife thought it was the perfect gift. My only concern is how often I have to clean the brushes and empty the debris bin. However, this really doesn't bother me since I get to see how much progress the little robot is actually making! I just got mine the other day and so far so good, turn him on and he goes to town, now im not sure on how "deep" this thing cleans but im impressed with what i thought were clean floors and randy picked up stuff i didnt think was there, its convienent, now i read lots of reviews and i keep hearing a lot of ppl say about the maintenence on this thing, i look at it this way it saves you from running the sweeper once a week or however many times you run it, and when i say "YOU" i mean you have to do it, this thing will do it for you, so instead of you cleaning the floors and emptying your regular sweeper all you have to do is clean it, no big deal, and another thing for all the naysayers, this thing wasnt invented so you can sit on the couch and throw potato chips at it and never expect to clean your floors again, while laughing, muahhahah!!! at the top of your lungs, its simply for people who dont have the time or hate to sweep, i think it works great and with technology and more time, i bet youll see one in everyones house, i have the 530 model and they are already putting newer models with better tech. into them, and i think mines brilliant, so anyone on the edge of getting one i say get one and you wont be dissapointed, the only drawback are the sidebrushes wear and break and you have to buy new ones, but if you search around enough youll find a good deal on them, i just ordered from [...], 1 faceplate, 1 virtual wall, 3 side brushes, 3 beater brushes, 3 comb brushes, 6 filters, all brand new and free, for [$]!!! and another thing is that yes you do have to clean this thing good but its easy, pull the 2 brushes off and use the tool they give you, clean the side brush when you can see it has hair on it, its a matter pulling one screw out and unrwrapping the hair from it! takes me maybe 5 minutes and i dont mind doing it, because if you want quality from it take the time to care for it!!! i love randy roomba!!!!!!!!!!

Love my roomba! Need more virtual walls, our home is not split up with doors/walls in a small enough area for the unit to clean effectively. More virtual walls would let me chop it up into manageable pieces. The VWs need a laser light that you could turn on to see where the VM actually is located. I've had mine escape because I didn't have them lined up properly. Otherwise love it, saving for a scuba.

I love that it just goes. I don't have to do anything. It cleans and cleans. I just love that it docks itself and charges. I would have liked it to have the scheduling component, but it was a gift so I didn't pick it. But it works great. I push the clean button and leave for work, when I get home it is back on it's docking station and my floor looks great. I would recommend this product, but maybe with the scheduling part.

The product is a good idea but to keep it running is expensive. The battery life is not long enough and to replace it is one third of the cost of the machine. I am very disappointed in this fact and if you call in for information, you do not always get the same person and some do not know the answer and if you call back, the other will know it quickly. All in all, I am not sorry I purchased the robot as I am handicapped. I have told others about it but I hope they can afford the expensive batteries.

I had a 560 for a few days and wasn't overly impressed with it. I took it back and got a 530. For some reason it's quieter, cleans deeper, and holds a charge longer. Maybe I got a lemon 560. I'm absolutely thrilled with my 530. Really an amazing machine.

This is a fantastic product. I have hardwood, carpet, and tiles all on the same floor - and Robbie cleans along making an easy transition from one to the other. Its excellent for people with pets because it picks up all animal hair very well. Very convenient and very cool.

Although Robbie has a bumper on the front of it, it does give objects a little knock when it's cleaning around the room (ie chair legs). The side brushes loose bristles after after a few months use, but they are easy to replace. Sometimes Robbie gets stuck on vents that pertrude slightly out of the floor, so you have to give him a nudge.

Overall, a fantastic product that will save you lots of time.

I have a 1400 sq. ft finished basement that is tiled. This product has kept the entire room cleen for 20 months and I just now need a new battery. The floor always looks good. Just keep plants with leaves off the floor :) I highly recommend my Roomba.

I love this product. I set the programable schedule, so i set it and forget it. I get home from work and the floors are clean. I can now walk barefoot in my entire house and not get dirt or crumbs on my feet. Great.
I do wish it was less noisier. I now don't use it on the weekends when we are home because it does get to loud, and sometimes when i do get home, he is not on his home base, he is stuck somewhere, usually on a runner carpet in the bedrooms. But only on occasion. I still LOVE this product. I don't know how anyone cannot. 2 other family members have chosen to buy one and they love it too.

Bought this thinking how could it possibly out clean my large vaccuum...boy was I wrong!! It outcleans everything! We have the scooba too and love it as well, we have 2 Australian Shepherds with long hair and it is AMAZING! I will always own one of these! i run all roombas and dirt dogs simultaneously . this gets the entire house and garage clean at once. however, it does mean quite a lot of cleaning the bots. we have a good set up in the garage to do this quicky and efficiently. we spend abour 1 hour a week cleaning the bots, but the house gets vacuumed very well 6 days a week.

This thing works great, but only if you use it every day! If you allow pet hair to accumulate at all, it can create problems with clogged brushes. I have two long haired cats, and I end up having to clean out the brushes about every 10 minutes, which is a huge waste of time considering what a pain it is to clean hair out of the brush (even with the tool). Albeit, one of my cats has strange, long downy hair that clogs everything like shredded cotton, so maybe other pet owners wouldn't have the problem I have. Either way, I still like my roomba...but only if I use it regularly. If I haven't vacuumed in a couple of weeks, then it's time to bring out the old, clunky standing vacuum!

This unit has helped me keep rooms clean of pet hair. My black lab sheds like crazy and with the Roomba I can just set it and then head off to work and come back to a clean room.

Some problems I've found with this model is that the side brushes seem to break off easily. I've lost two of the brushes already and have only owned it for a few months. It also seems to have a problems with transitioning between rugs and hard wood flooring. Most of the house is hardwood, but I have a few area rugs here and there. Sometimes it will get caught on the rugs or it loses a chunk of hair it had caught in the rollers. So I'll come home and find it "done" but see a chunk of hair sitting at the edge of the carpet. Not a big deal since it's all in one piece though.

It does best on hard surfaces. My kitchen and bedrooms stay pretty clean. It does get caught easily and you have to watch for the "clean sensors" error that pops up when it's dirty. But overall I like it. Another wish is I'd like the virtual walls to turn off when the unit stops cleaning...otherwise I have to be home to turn them off so the batteries don't run down.

Love the Roomba. I have 2 children age 3 and 7 who will actually vacuume. They just push the button and "Robbie" is off and running. I have carpet, tile, and wood floors. Roomba is perfect for all three. I also have floor rugs which "Robbie" transitions to with ease. I love that "Robbie" cleans under beds, couches, and my kitchen table maneuvering perfectly. Definitely worth the money. Biggest drawback is the side brushes do fall off and have to be replaced.

I bought it for my wife after a friend told me about theirs (and our old canister vac's cord went south.) We have not cleaned as often as we should but bob should take care of that now. The only observed problem so far is a throw rug on top of the carpet. bob roots under it rather than climb up on it. Then he gets discouraged and leaves it alone after a while.

Max is always plugged in ready to go in the kitchen/diner. We all just press him on whenever we wish to clean up. Since we have had Max our carpets and floors always look clean. We have no excuse to have dirty and messy floors because it is so easy just to switch Max on. The only problem with Max is that he does get caught under certain pieces of furniture and we have to retrieve him or gets stuck for ages in one spot, moving back and forth, back and forth until he eventually gets out of the tight spot.

I am somewhat of a cleaning freak and it is immensely satisfying to turn on the machine, pour a glass of wine and go sit on the porch, hearing her bump around as she putts around the furniture. I had many doubts...will it go back to its home base? Will it clean every room?I didnt think it would be much dirt in the Debris bin. It works perfectly! It cleaned every room and found its way back to the charger. The debris bin was almost full. Another great thing about this is it wasnt that loud. I thought it would be as loud as a vacuum but not at all. I was still able to watch tv while it cleaned. Great product. Thanks!!

I thought this was a toy! Until I finally, AFTER much research purchased one last December! Initially he would run every day as he kept finding more places to clean (not hard with a cat and siberian husky) Now he only has to work every few days. His dirt bin needs emptied (much easier than changing vacuum bags) and cleaning the brushes just take a minute...not nearly as messy or time consuming as cleaning the brushes and rollers on the old vacuum. I haven't touched the "real" vacuum in months, although I do miss the advantage of the hose to get the high corners and/or stairs. I don't allow him to go into the bathroom or bedroom without supervision as he likes to get go behind the door and locks himself in the room, blocking the doors open do solve this problem easily enough. yes the side brushes break, but order a spare set when there is a sale and you will be ready (On the old vacuum I was always replacing belts.) Only problem is finding a discreet place for his docking station...needs to be open enough that he can locate it, but secure that he doesn't move it when trying to dock. Actually it is kind of funny to come in, see the docking station empty and go searching to see where he ran out of power. But since he cleans until he finally gives up I figure I got a bit of extra work out of him! I have no desire to use any other type of vacuum and fully expect to get another Roomba in the future. and this is after eight months of constant usage...I totally love my Roomba

My 11 year old set it up and it got up a ton of dirt ( I had vacuumed the day before.) We went boating that day so as a test my kids put napkin scraps all over the kitchen. It got every bit of scraps but right before it docked, it bumped into a stool and it fell on her, but she had successfully cleaned the kitchen. I recommend this to any busy family!

What I liked the best is that I don't have to do the vacuuming myself, I get home from work, start dinner, fold clothes and vacuum at the same time. Its great..too bad can't do stairs. Hooray nelly!!

My husband bought me our Roomba because I was constantly sweeping and vacuuming. I have proudly not swept our wood floors in 4 months thanks to "downy". It will get stuck/shut the door on itself in a room and gets caught under low furniture but is still AMAZING!!!! We love it!!!!!!

I love my Robot. I saved up for a long time to purchase him. He gets under more things than I ever could. It is so easy for me to vacuum every day. I am taking good care so he lasts for a long time. I would like another one for the upstairs. Now I am saving for a Scooba. I am 74 years old and the tile floors are getting to be a job to clean.

This is one of the most useful things ever!!! I`m a mom of 4 and i don`t have the time to vacuum every mess my kids make. The Roomba does a great job at cleaning up chips, and leaves from our dog. It covers the whole room and never leaves a crumb.

I recommend this to anybody who has a busy lifestyle, or kids.

I love this product... I was skeptical and thought about purchasing an irobot for years before I finally took the plunge. Boy, am I mad for waiting! Julio (my robot) cleans my tile kitchen floors and my carpeted floors excellently -- also does a GREAT job on area rugs. Everything is always clean (and I have FOUR dogs). Wonderful product ... I HIGHLY recommend!

Roomba is a great piece of kit. It is able to work it's way around my dining table (and gets dirt from UNDER the small feet that my normal vacuum doesn't reach) and work around my TV stand without any problems.

Noise wise, it is quieter than a standard bagless upright vacuum and is simple to operate.

The only thing that I do is make sure that I lift dining chairs off the floor to make sure it can easily clean all round.

I only wish I could get a Scooba now (come on guys - us Brits love these units!)

Purchased without my wifes knowledge, and when it arrived, she raised and eyebrow. She asked what I spent, and I told her. She raised more than an eyebrow. I ran Lupe the first night. Wife woke me up in the morning and told me I made my best purchase ever. Lupe Rosa Maria works her butt off to clean up after 2 kids and a cat. She takes care of the crumbs on the vinyl and the hair on the carpet. We own a Hoover Z and the extra dust and debris that Lupe finds is incredible. Because of the cat, the brush maintenance is extensive, but that is my kids fault. I only wish irobot would come up with a less fragile edge brush, or include some replacements in the box. Bottom line, the family LOVES Lupe, and my wife is asking if she has sisters for upstairs and the basement!!

I purchased my roomba a week before installing laminate floors. When I ran it on the carpet, you could see the lines in the carpet where roomba had went. It went everywhere, over and over!!! I showed my cousin and she went out and bought one immediately. My laminate floors are always clean, as I use Boogie almost every other day. I have 2 dogs, one is a Shih Tzu and she really sheds a lot.

Being a single mother with a more than a full time job and also having 3 dogs in the house cleaning is not an easy task to get around to. But with the Roomba, I can come home in the evenings, get homework done, feed my family and the dogs and still vaccum the house.

I'm not supposed to vacuum per my doctor, but that's not realistic with a long haired cat, cheap carpet and no money to pay for a cleaning service. Had this recommended by a friend whose brother owned one and researched it pretty well before I bought. Other than an initial problem with a front wheel assembly, which was promptly replaced no charge, no hassle, the most time spent is cleaning the brushes. I'd redesign the end pieces to make it a little easier to get all the cat fur wound around in the little grooves easier to get out. It took me a little time to learn how to take the bits out, but once I learned, it's dead easy to hear the little nagging "nee-naw" sound, go in and clean brushes. As the house gets cleaner and it's NEVER been this clean, there's less to tangle around the brushes. This little darling was literally rolling up matts of cat fur from under the bed the first time it went under there. Watching it come out from under my kitchen island chasing dust bunnies taller than the Roomba was hilarious and gave it the name. My elderly cat settled down after watching it suspiciously the first few times and gets up to let it do its thing, then flops right back down in her sunbeam with only an ear flick. It's not so heavy that it exceeds my weight limit and I'm now able to clean my floors daily instead of once every 6 weeks or so. I'm looking forward to saving up for a Scooba and maybe a Dog for the garage/porch area where the lawn service blows stuff in around the cracks. The only downside is its habit of unplugging my phone and stereo wires in one room and I'm perfectly happy to plug them back in if it means this kind of clean. I've had mine about a month now and I can't imagine how I lived before it came along to snatch up all the wads of cat fur on the floor. The only area rug it can't handle has a combination of a pale green border and pattern on a black background. It thinks I've put it down in midair over a cliff and gets very distressed. The other oriental carpets in assorted dark colors and patterns don't bother it a bit and it doesn't tangle the fringed borders at all. I'm learning to hang the blind cords up away from it and it encourages me to be tidy and keep my shoes in the closet so I don't have to pick up anything out of its way. It'll mangle a magazine if you forget and leave it on the floor, but then so would a regular vacuum if it passed over. I run it until the battery goes dead to extend battery life rather than letting it dock on half a charge. This little gadget quickly made itself indispensible to me. I don't know why more people don't know about them or have them. I'm a fan!

I use it just about every day. One more task around the house that I don't have to do. With 2 growing boys and 2 pets it has made it easier to do things that are more important around the house. The kids even want to use it for their room. Boys that to want to clean there room I thought I would never see the day.

I run mine twice a week. Sometimes on rare occasions gets stuck under the couch. Sometimes picks up the corners on some rugs. Still exceeds expectations but is not as good as the real thing. It supplements the cleaning.I still chase the tall vac once every couple of weeks for a more thorough cleaning.

At first it was kind of difficult to clean the filter, so I started using an old soft toothbrush.

I named mine after F.J. Zamboni, the other name was gonna be Arnold... it,s my old squadrons call sign because of Roomba's fire and forget capabilities. Also it cleans "any time baby"

The obvious choice would have been Rosie from the Jetsons.

Needs big bag--dust bin is small and messy. I have to clean brushes approx. 3 times per room vacuuming. Very dirty to clean brushes, filter, bag. Doesn't save time, but does save a bit of effort. Nor sorry I have it, but sure doesn't work as well as I had hoped.

When I first got it I loved it and it worked great but a few months of using it a couple times a week just for those quick cleanings it started to loose suction. It isn't because it needs cleaning as I emptied the bin several times while it was cleaning and cleaned the brushes after it was all done, every time. Another thing was the fact that the little side brush started to fall off, which means it doesn't get along the edges or into the corners anymore. I was planning on buying more for other parts of the house but not anymore.

First off, we have 3 kids, 2 cats and 1 dog. George runs daily on hardwood and carpet. Each time, the bin is full of pet hair. I also have to clean the beater bar and have taken a vacuum cleaner to the thing. it picks up nicely and can get stuck. It hangs under the ottoman, so I just turn it upside down before operating. Cons are that it needs cleaning often (my problem, not the roomba)and the side brushes break easily. Other than that, everyone should have one. I recommended it to my brothers / sisters and now we all have one. Roomba is great fun too!!!

This was a great purchase. The roomba picks up dog hair and cat hair easily. It works well on hardwood, tile and carpet. My dog and cat stay away from it when it is cleaning (they are afraid of it) which is good. It cleans very thoroughly.

The product is effective a picking up hair both pet and human. I does hoever suffer from a poorly designed side rotating brush. I have had my Roomba for 3 months and two of the 6 arms of the rotating brush have broken off. I ordered new brushes but I-Robot is very slow about filling orders. That perhaps is their weakest point in customer service.

We have all tile floors with area rugs. I haven't vacuumed since my new best friend Lizzie moved in, several months ago! Only 2 minor problems...the noise is a nuisance if you're trying to watch TV. I fixed that problem, now I hit her button as I walk out the door and come home to clean floors and Lizzie is back on her charge. It's like having a maid come in, only you pay for Lizzie one time and you're done, and she'll work any day of the week or as many times in a week as you want her to. One other problem was 2 of the small brushes broke, but I haven't noticed any difference in her ability to clean. If/when I do, I can eaily order the replacement brushes.

Love this vacuum!! It cleans under beds and end tables that my upright vacuum can't get to. Like the way it cleans and that it puts itself back on it's base when done. My side brush did break shortly after getting my Roomba. I called the company and they quickly sent out a replacement.

I am a renter and when I moved in of course I rented the industrial vacuum to originally clean the carpet, well immediatley after I shampooed and vacuumed and allowed it to dry I used my roomba and was amazed at how much the industrial vac missed. Only set back this model has that I see is unable to set up a schedule so I manually have to tell it to clean when I get in from school but it still beats having to vacuum my self and the roomba does an outstanding job. My carpet is always "fluffy" and my entrace and kitchen free of dirt and debris. I like the product so much I bought the 580 and use both of them but the 580 is capable of cleaning everyday without me having to do a thing. Especially great for cleaning before and after parties.

Cleans every room(except the stairs), area's that are difficult for me to get to everyday, the hardwood and tile stay white sock spotless, but his spinning side brush has to be replaced frequently. "Alfred" is the greatest gift my husband has ever bought me. It's hard to say which I love more my dishwasher or my roomba. I tell everyone I know to get one. My best friend has already and we are getting our mothers one each for Mothers Day. There isn't enought room here to to tell others how wonderful our roomba is or how much work it has taken off me and how much free time it has given me that I have never had before. Get one...I have the 530, & I love him. I tell everyone he's my other man.
