This is my 2nd Roomba. My original 400 series, purchased in 2006, is still going strong, even with daily use and 2 cats. I just had to replace the battery.

The 570 is a marvelous piece of engineering! The advances in the Roomba since 2006 are just amazing. The new model has amazing power and coverage. It is quieter and more graceful. Adding the lighthouse feature to the virtual walls is a huge improvement and an ingenious idea. The new model does not bang or bounce, get stuck on floor heating grates, hung up on fringe or tassels, or stuck under furniture. It does slow down, however, when two cats sit on it.

I bought this unit recently after seeing my friends in action a couple years ago. (Its been on the wish list!) My overall experience with the unit has been positive.
Pros - Saves me time, takes awhile but it effectively cleans, really picks up the dust and pet hair, it doesnt get mad when I call it by the wrong name LOL!! Her name is Lucy and sometimes I call her Sally.
Cons - I have noticed that when the unit transitions from my hard floors to my area rugs it will falsly activate the cliff sensors or get stuck about 40% of the time. Thats about my biggest complaint. I have seen many complaints about longevity but I guess time will tell for me. Last complaint is the ditance sensors for running into things seems to fail to sense small oblects such as table legs and also some dark objects and really rams into them. No damage to anything but I wander about long term wear on these items.

I clean my house with it! And i trully love it! Because i have a litle baby and do not really have time to vacume the floors! And Roomba does it for me! I did not expect that it will be that great! The only problem that i have with it that it's starts circling around for no reason and gives me an error.

I have the 570. Its the best thing i ever spent my money on. have 2 dogs one with short hair and one long hair. the dogs dont mind it. it cleans about 2 rooms on a charge. im thinking about getting the one that washes the floors.

I primarily use this to keep the kitty litter tracking under control. Since I've been using the Roomba I have virtually no litter being tracked through the house. It's amazing to watch this thing navigate a room and I love the power cleaning mode where it will run over a spot to make sure it has picked everything up. I'm tempted to get a couple more so they can take over ALL the vacuuming for me! GREATEST INVENTION EVER!!!

We've had our roomba for about a month now, and have followed all the maintenance advice to the letter, with absolutely no issues in operation. We own a dog that sheds quite a bit and had to vacuum several times a week to keep the hair from piling up. The roomba has relived us of the constant vacuuming and keeps the main living areas relatively dirt/hair free. Not surprisingly, it does not do ALL the cleaning, and sometimes will miss a corner or a collection of dirt where carpet or flooring edges meet, but now we've only had to lug out the big vacuum once in the past few weeks to get the deep cleaning done. There are a few minor improvements we'd still like to see but without a doubt we are officially a roomba family.

Really easy to setup. There are minimal directions because it is very user friendly. Really, really good at picking up hair. I completely vacuumed before I used the Roomba for the first time and there was so much hair in the bin I was shocked. Who knew?! Also very good at going from one surface to another-tile to rug, brick to rug and back again (all kinds of rugs too-even with tassels). The lighthouses are a must, especially in my "open concept" house. they are also very useful for the few things the Roomba gets stuck under (a changing table and book shelf). But it's GREAT under the bed and crib. Handles the dust ruffles and everything. Has trouble getting "home" in my larger living/dining room. I have a small house with lots of furniture so it got sort of lost. Don't know if it would have made it back without me (fine in the smaller rooms though). I give it 4 stars because of the problems getting stuck and roaming looking for home but I'd give it a 4.5 if I could. LOVE IT!

I brought the iRobot Roomba 570 thinking it as a toy, but guess what? It's not, i use it every day in my living room, kitchen and another fourth room because the are connected to together. It cleans all of it effectively. Now I need a robot that detects bugs and spays liquid nitrogen on them and then vacuum them!

We scheduled it to clean 4x/week, this is 10X better than the old one. Cleans better, longer and rarely gets stuck. The old model got stuck a lot. This one is much quieter, and a heck of a lot quieter than a regular cleaner. Love It, Loved the older one, but this one is MUCH BETTER!

First let me say that when things are right, this is a great machine. My wife really likes what it does for her and right now is missing the convience of having the furniture cleaned under while Roomba is out of service.We bought two model 570's for Christmas a year ago (one for our daughter and one for ourselves). After hearing how much good we were getting from these two my Sister-in-law also purchased one. In November our daughter's began to go in circles and after phone calls to try to correct the issue, she had to return it for a replacement (except the battery). My Sister-in-law also had the same identical problem, also under waranty and with the same results. Now ours began to act strange right after the first of the year (shutting down too soon) and we found out that it, too, was just going in circles for a brief time and stopping. Since it is out of warranty now the replacement price was quoted at $129 [...]. This even after communicating about what seems to be a known problem. Also, they now are telling us to blow compressed air into it after every-three uses! However, I think they are missing the issue...a problem in design or part. It is a very complex unit for what it does. Just be aware of potential problems with this product and the added expense that could be in the future. This is a costly investment for only a year of service. We have a small house with hardwood floors, are retired, and don't abuse any product we own.By the way, I only made the purchase in the first place after reading all the reviews posted in this site.

I purchased one of the early ones the Discovery and loved it. Later, I purchased a new model and was surprised by the improvements. It actually polishes my wood floors and can be used on tiles very effectively. So what does a good daughter do?
I lend it to Mom. She is elderly and this is so helpful! It cleans under her beds and she doesn't have to lift a heavy vacuum or bend;works well on her wall to wall. I'm two states away and she considers cleaning as part of her independence. I'm currently saving for a new Roomba!

This is our second Roomba, it is a great machine, but definitely needs more improvement. Our first Roomba completely broke down after two years. We bought the 570 model expecting improvement in durability and function.

We have two dogs and the floors have to be vacuumed every day, the Roomba helps us keep the floors fairly hair free; that is an absolute convenience!

But the Roomba requires high and frequent maintenance. Dust, dirt, and hair collect inside the Roomba's wheels and gears, which causes poor performance or its stops working all together. I have had to unscrew and take the machine completely apart several times to clean it with my shop air compressor; that is really aggravating and inconvenient!

Roomba leaves clumps of hair and debris when going from hard floor to carpet and even with the advanced 570 model still gets stuck on power cords and low thresholds.

This is a great product, but is still needs too much maintenance and attention. Please tell me when iRobot finally gets the "bugs" worked out.

Yes, I wish I could fiddle with its cleaning parameters!

For a room with lots of obstacles (e.g., furniture, irregular stub walls, etc.) it can get around them easily enough, but it doesn't spend nearly enough time in order to cover all areas before it moves beyond the first lighthouse.

After a few months, I regularly spot clean the areas it doesn't go over enough first.

Smaller rooms with just as much "difficulty" are cleaned much better, of course.

Herkie is up bright and early (2:30 a.m.) daily cleaning all rooms except the bedrooms. He is allowed in the bedrooms later in the day. It is such a joy to wake up and start the day with clean, clean, clean Tile, hardwood floors and area rugs. So far I have not found any negatives with Herkie. We are still amazed how efficient and thorough Herkie performs his daily task of cleaning this busy household. Thanks soooo much for my wonderful iRobot 57001 !!

I don't recall ever being this pleased with a purchase before we adopted Roger. One level of our home is carpeted (commercial, medium pile) and one level is mostly hardwood flooring with area rugs and two carpeted rooms -- total living space approximately 2500 square feet.

Our 570 ambles from wood floors to area rugs (heavy Oriental rugs) to carpet without a beep or flash. The fully carpeted level of our home (four rooms) was completely vacuumed in 75 minutes with Roger returning to his docking station with battery power to spare.

It does a great job on edge cleaning and under furniture. One small mention from someone who should have known better, dust mop under your beds before sending your Roomba in to do its thing. I didn't do any prep dusting and our Roomba started beeping as it collected dust bunnies from under the bed. It shut itself down until I cleaned the dust bin, bristle and flapper brushes and side arm brushes.

We thought we'd get to the point that this "gadget" would lose its novelty status for us but instead, it's truly a contributing member of the family. Love it!

I have now had Rosie for a full year. My parents gave her to us as a Christmas gift last year. While I LOVE her, she does have her issues. We have 2 black cats and the fur is insane. Because she DOES get stuck I do not trust her to run when I am not around so I cannot use the scheduler feature. I have to move things out of her way so she doesn't get into trouble. We also have a large house and she cannot complete more than the kitchen & foyer on one charge. The family room and the basement each take about 2 charges to complete. I run her twice a week in the kitchen & foyer but I have to set the timer on the stove for 20-30 minute in order to stop her & dump her dustbin and clean the cat hair off her rollers or else she will beep at me 'cuz the hair gets twisted up on the ends of the rollers. I also have to stuff things under the edges of my furniture in the family room & basement or else she gets stuck trying to go underneath.

She does a fantastic job at what she does, but I do not find all of her features to be THAT good since I must be home and I must move things out of her way and block off under furniture. I have arthritis and so she does help me save on the pain I often have in my hand / arm. I still have to drag out my old vac. to clean the baseboards and she can't fit into ALL spaces so I have to hit those with the attachments...

She was recently "down" for a month while I waited on parts and an eventual replacement and it drove me crazy that I couldn't use her while I did something else! I really missed her help through the holidays and I am glad she's back home!

I've had a Roombie since 2005, and have LOVED him every day. Moved up to this one with the scheduler in Sept 08, and love it even more. Sure, you have to clean the debris bin and the brushes (but the 500 generation brushes are a *significant* improvement over the original series, and I didn't even mind cleaning those!), and rescue him from his own adventurousness sometimes (hmmm: I'm SURE I can fit under THAT .....oh oh!), but balance that against dragging out the human operated vacuum and pushing it all over the house....? No contest. Roombie wins hands down every time. I just can't figure out why it took so long from putting a man on the moon to developing a REAL scientific advance -- ROOMBA!

My ONLY peeve about Roomba is that he's still a little frightened of corners (doesn't get the loose dirt out of a 90 degree corner) and he doesn't do stairs. Bummer!

Now I eagerly await the advent of the robots which wash windows, and the robots that wash walls. Bring them on!

My 570 is parked in the living room to service the living room, dining room, kitchen, and breakfast area. The living room houses a huge bird cage and a ring stand for our Umbrella Cockatoo, Noel. She throws food that is less desirable to her and we used to have to bring out the vacuum cleaner every day. The 570 takes care of this mess with it's scheduled 9 a.m. cleaning and I send it on another search and destroy mission when I return home from work. It has made our ownership of a bird much more enjoyable since we no longer have to clean up after her on a daily basis. Thanks for making such a useful product. I now have three of these positioned throughout our 2300 sq ft home.

My parents gave us our Roomba 570 as a family Christmas gift last year. I LOVE my Rosie but she DOES have some issues. We have a large home (over 4,000 SF) and 2 black cats so I find she works most efficiently if I use the lighthouses to block her in one room at a time...but she can only do 1 or 2 rooms on a charge depending on the room. She actually can't even finish our family room or our basement on one charge (both carpeted) so I would love her to run longer per charge. Because she DOES get stuck and I have to pick up some things and block the rooms off I only run her when I am around - usually on Tues and Fri for my first floor.

I find that with the 2 cats I can only let her run about 20-30 minutes then I have to stop her to dump the dust bin and clean the cat hair out from the ends of the rollers. The hair really gets tangled around the ends of the rollers. On the carpet, I have to clean the carpet fuzz out of the brush about every 20 min. too. So, while I LOVE that she does the vacuuming for me while I do something else, I wish she had some more features as I cannot schedule her and let her go at it alone because of the cat hair and room sizes. Although she gets stuck on floor lamps and under furniture she still does an amazing job of cleaning. It always amazes me how much "stuff" I dump out of that little bin!

She has had a couple of maintenance issues which I will say that the Customer Service Dept. has handled quite well. So far, everything has been covered under her warranty. She is currently "sick" and I am waiting on a new wheel assembly - I dread that I have company coming to stay for Thanksgiving and I have to use my "real" vacuum cleaner to clean while I wait on the part to arrive! LOL

The other drawback besides no stairs is that she also doesn't do baseboards - so I still have to drag out my old vacuum to do those every month. I think a Roomba is especially good for non-pet owners and smaller homes / apartments.

this little gadget...is wonderful...i have hard wood floors and carpets...every morning at 7:30 it sweeps, my kitchen, den and dining room...then i let it rest and it sweeps our bedroom...my allergies are better...and of course that is great...twice a week it sweeps our living room and bath! once a month, it sweeps the upstairs (no one is living there)...my floors look like i have just refinished them...and of couse the dust it gone...thanks...

This is the best purchase I have made in a long time, I have had my roomba for 2 years. I have not used my broom or dust pan but a few times since owning my roomba. I tell everyone about it! I've had my Roomba (Hazel) and Scooba (Alice) for a little over a week. We have about 4000 square feet of carpet area in our home and so far have used Hazel daily. It usually takes about 3 to 4 recharging cycles per day to cover everything. It gets further under beds and chairs than I can with my whole house vacuum system. I wish there was something for the stairs since we have three carpeted stair cases. We have three teenage sons and live in the country so dust and dirt are a constant. I'm hoping to see a decrease in the particles you see in the air when the sun is shining in. I haven't tried it on the tile or hard wood yet, it's too busy on the carpet. I love that it docks itself to recharge. I just move the docking station from floor to floor when I move Hazel to clean and she's ready in just an hour or two to begin a different area.
I use Alice (Scooba) in the kitchen, breakfast nook, laundry room and bathrooms which are tiled. I hated mopping weekly and now don't mind a bit. The cleaning solution smells nice as well.
A Roomba and Scooba will be their housewarming gifts when my sons get their own places. Even a man can keep the floors clean with these.

I also have a "scheduler" that works without fail - EVERYTIME. No fuss. No muss. -- which is why I purchased the 570.....now .... after using it in my home and comparing it to my Scheudler --I'd like to return it but it's too late. :(
a. My major complaint is that it constantly states "please clean roombas brushes" ... even if they are clean! I have just had it replaced after almost a year of frustrating "almost, sort of, maybe...cleaning"
b. The other issue is getting stuck in places and on things that it should not be getting stuck on. Carpets. Floor Air Vents. Stairs. I was surprised that it would get stuck on the stairs and the floor vents -- and announce "please clean Roomba cliff sensors" <-- when I would turn it over and check them ... they are CLEAN!!
c. Brushes. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in the brushes. An noted in "a" above, the brushes are constantly needing cleaning and I believe that this is due to a poor design. The ENDS of the brushes are catching the majority of the hair and wrapping it around the ends and under the bearings. I would think that they should be funneling the hair towards the middle of the brush so it can effectively move it to the dust bin?
d. VW Lighthouse. It has difficulty letting Roomba though -- and once it does, it keeps Roomba in that room even after the "dock" light starts flashing (meaning that the battery is low and it neeeds to go back to the home base for recharging). Yes, it is set correctly. Yes, it turns on when Rommba starts the cleaning cycle. No, it does not work as advertised.
My real issue is that I am a proponent of new technology and am considered a Gadget Guy. My wife thought the first Roomba was a "toy" until it replaced the need for her to vacuum the downstairs family room. The 500 series was supposed to be the "best of the best" with improved navigation, better cleaning ability, longer run times. The 500 series should be the "Lexus" of the Roombas. Mine is more like a Yugo.
It's too bad really. I was really looking forward to the inproved software and ability to clean additional rooms via the VW lighthouse.

i have a 2yr old and an infant - no time to clean and there is always a raisin or a cheerio or a crumb or a new pile of sand appearing. It forces me to quickly pick up floor debris and then shut the door and set roombie off...it covers the entire floor picking up sand, hair, dust balls, feathers, fluff of all kinds. Goes from hardwood to carpet with no problem at all, cleans both as effectively. Its incredible. The floor (hardwood and carpet) feels cleaner underfoot than with regualar brush or swiffer since it doesnt more the dust around at all. I whole-heartedly recommend it. Buy it and enjoy. I know this sounds like an advert but it really is true!

We have an Umbrella Cockatoo for a family pet. She is very bad about throwing seeds on the floor (carpet and ceramic tile). This little unit is phenomenal. Our bird is molting. I program this unit to vacuum every day at 10 a.m.. Every third day, I take about 45 seconds to empty the bin. The rest of the time, I forget it is there and have not touched our huge vacuum cleaner since the arrival of the Roomba. I consider this test a success and am about to order two more... one for the other floor of our house and one for my 70 year old mother.

Our little "Ro-bro" saves my sanity daily. We have a husky/mix dog who sheds constantly, year-round. In order to keep the dog fuzz to a minimum I vacuumed daily. Our main living area is large and very open so it would take a lot of time. Now we have little Ro-Bro to do the dirty work for us - he wakes up early each morning and runs...before we get out of bed our floors are clean. It's a nice way to start the day! The only complaint (if you can even call it that) I have is that the brushes, wheels and bin need to be cleaned out at least every other day or the hair wraps around the wheels, etc. It's a little annoying, but much less annoying than the dog fuzz everywhere.

The timed start does work, but does not return to base and misses two of the four rooms. The side brush keeps breaking. Sometimes the it ignores lighthouse. Tried many reset, but no cigar. It is a cool idea, but needs fine tuning. It does do a good job on the cleaning part.

By covering an area over and over from different directions it gets much more dirt and cat hair from my carpets than even the strongest upright vacuum has ever gotten. I block off separate sections of my mobile home for it to work on, and the section near the sliding door from the front porch gets done about twice as much as the rest of the house. And cleaning the IRobot after each session is kind of fun, just seeing the amazing amount of dirt, debris and cat hair that it has pulled out this time. It is the greatest!

I can't believe the new technology and improvements made to my new Roomba 570 compared to my Original Series Roomba that I purchased several years ago! My "Amazing Grace" is so easy to operate. I love the scheduling capability and how it automatically finds its way home after cleaning. I can be in my home office working and it starts by itself, does my cleaning, then goes back to its Home Base. I use it to clean my carpeted living room, dining room, hallway, bathroom, and the tile entryway with a thick area rug at the front door every morning at 9AM. I'm not sure how much more area it is capable of, but I've thought about expanding it to the tile kitchen and my carpeted bedroom. This would be wonderful if it could accomplish all this area. I still have my Original Series Roomba and wouldn't give it up for the world. It needs a new battery after all these years but it will certainly clean my home offce room perfectly. iRobot, you are terrific!

Fanatastic. I purchased this for my wife as a christmas present while vacation in the US this year. It has been cleaning our rooms left right and centre. It cleans and cleans well. OUr pets couldn't bet bothered. We have clutter in our rooms so we sometime need to move stuff so scooby could get his job done. We really have no complaints. I wish i could start sellign them in my country. This christmas, I'm getting the one that washes.

Our family is constantly busy. We just recently bought a 4,000 sq. ft. house. Shortly after moving in, we realized that vacuuming was not going to be easy! It took about a little over an hour to thoroughly vacuum the house! Because we were all pressed for time, we decided to buy a Roomba. We could all immediately feel the difference in our travertine floors. They were so much cleaner and we didn't do a thing! The only thing is that it doesn't vacuum the stairs. Sometimes we have to go looking for it because it gets lost in rooms. The bristle brushes break easily. We have had to replace ours 3 times. But all in all, this is a great product. I recommend the Roomba to anyone who doesn't have the time to clean!

I received the Roomba for Christmas and I absolutely love it! It saves me time and energy. When I'm busy doing other chores, the Roomba is doing his work and effectively. It can sometimes get stuck in cords though. The only thing, I have to do touch ups in corners but it doesn't really bother me because I already saved a lot of time. Great product!!

My seven year old came up with the name. I'm working on finding a better one. I call it "the vacuum"
I really thought the house would be cleaner once our old cat was gone, but with the dirt road, two kids (the other is 5), shoes allowed in the house, two of us with long hair, the tumbleweeds still existed. I am too busy and everyday something is left to do until later. Well, later never comes. Vacuuming is always last on my list and it has to be pretty bad for me to drag it out. I bought the 570 for my husband on Father's day and felt like I shouldn't have spent so much for such an occasion and without his input. Here, in this space, I will confess, I bought it for myself! But, he LOVES it! I couldn't have found a better gift! We have laminate floors and the evening sun shows all the dust. I haven't noticed any dust since Father's day! I forgot that I even owned a swifter! My kids won't clean for the sake of cleaning, but if I tell them that I want to run the vacuum they run to pick up their clutter. Now I need one to clean their dresser tops! I don't mind the cleaning of the brushes. I use a seam ripper (found at any sewing store)and can get long hairs and thread cut off in every space. I don't find it to be loud at all! I wonder what others are comparing it to? Their other vacuum? I doubt it! We have an elevavated, carpeted area and I was amazed at how the vacuum sensed the edges and never drove off the edge. It was worth every penny!

We love the Roomba 570. My kids got it for me for Mothers Day. We have a Golden Retreiver with lots of long hair, and if used every day there are never any visible hairs "floating" around like before on the hardwood floors. Noting negative to say..... we are buying one for a friend for a wedding gift.

My staff hated to clean up at the end of the day. It took about an hour to vacuum up the offices... (2)Now it goes on 1 hour before we close saving the staff 6 hours a week to do other important tasks. Times two offices it is like getting two days extra workers a week. Roomba was recommended by a friend, but I was highly skeptical that it would work as advertised. The first night I decided to test it by putting small pieces of tissue all around the room to see how many it would miss. To my surprise, it got them all (about 20 scattered pieces). Roomba 570 gets an amazing amount of cat hair off of our carpet and vinyl floors. Every time it gets done I empty it out and clean the brushes and cannot believe how effective it is. It gets the cat hair easy enough, but it also gets very fine dust and dirt particles. Cleaning the filter and brushes isn't great fun, but it's better knowing that my two year old is playing on clean floors. The front spinning brush "arms" do break off, though it is a soft material designed to break off rather than damage walls and furniture. I can deal with that, although I wish they were a little less expensive. After two weeks with one Roomba 570 we bought another one for the second level of our house. We're highly satisfied with this product.

Never thought that this would actually be anything more than a novelty product; however, after consumer reports rating, my wife and I decided to try the 570 and we are absolutely impressed. After I first got my robot I let it charge overnight for the sake of the battery. The next day I let it loose in my dining room while I was as work. When I got home from work I found my dining room to have little paths all over it. I took the bin off to see how full it was, I could not believe how full it was. When I vacuum I rarely move the furniture to get underneath it. Now I dont have to at all. It does not clean as well as my Dyson but with the amount it does get under the furniture I will have only have to move furniture once a year to get those areas deep cleaned. I brought it into work to show the people how well it worked because they did not believe me. The floor there is painted concrete. Before it started one of the guys swept the floor and then I set the robot loose. After it was done the could not believe how much the broom had missed! A couple of the guys told their wives about it and now they want an in-home demonstration. Im very proud of the little robot!!

My girlfriend and I bought this product as a Mothers Day Gift to each other from our pets. I really thought she would be just so-so. But I have been very surprised. I thought I would be dealing with emptying the collection bin several times during the cleaning - I was wrong. I love her, she works her tail off and I am so thrilled. I will tell you that I hate to vaccuum, my back hurts and I have so many other things that are priority. SO when we got Olga, I thought that I would still have to do some cleaning, but she does it all. The biggest drawback is that she does get stuck under the couch sometimes. I am looking for some solutions that I can remedy this. But she does a heck of a lot better job than I do. Fantastic product!

I use Brooma to clean every room in my house. She gets under the bed, tables and couches.

I have three dogs and a cat and hard wood floors. The hair was a never ending battle until the Rhumba! She cleans while I shower or shop. Goes over rugs no problem, under furniture, around chairs, she's just great. Just have to clean after every use but not time consuming or difficult. Highly recommend!

This thing is great. I love hearing the beeps warning me it is backing out of its base, kinda like a dump truck. Then the little hum telling me that I can be lazy and let the "little guy" do the cleaning.

Other than the training period (me being trained that is), learning to not leave small cords exposed, or a necktie sitting on the floor, I haven't had a single problem.

The only thing that could use improvement is how often I have to empty him out, and clean the brushes.

Great product, and I am convinced future versions will just get better.

We purchased our first iRoomba and Scoba for Christmas, 2006. The iRoomba is a scheduler model. I have her [Cinderella] set up to clean every Tuesday and Friday. She'll clean a couple of rooms, returning to her home base to recharge her battery. Recharged, she completes cleaning the floors. Once every two weeks I use Sparkle [Scoba] on the hardwood floors, tile bathroom floors and Kitchen/Dining Room tile floors. We have both Chow Chow dogs, plus one each [Himalayan and Calico Cats]. Prior to our iRobots, trying to keep the home free of animal fur was impossible!! This past December, one of the Atlantic City Casinos, was giving away a limited number of iRoomba 500 series machines. My wife was fortunate enough to be awarded one. This iRobot has been named "Aggie". The 500 Series has many improvements over its predecessor [Our original "Scheduler Model"]. Some of the improvements are: As she senses her approach to walls, she slows down. The previous rendition slams into the walls and doors. The operation is much quieter. I prefer the new filters. She cleans a larger area before returning for a recharge. he cleaning brush seems to clean deeper into the carpets. I prefer the brush cleaner tool of the older model. It cleans the brushes much quicker, needing fewer cycles thru the cleaner tool. The difference between the two models is similar to the difference between night and day!!Before using the iRoombas I will use a broom to quickly clean the area where the walls and floors meet. The front side brush is a good idea; but, I feel that neither model does an adequate job in this area. We have a 52' Rancher. It takes me about 3 minutes to complete using the broom. Yes, I pick up objects such as the food and water bowls, small pet toys, and any other object I think might become stuck in the brushes. During my 60 years I have not found anything that is perfect in every respect. It's just common sense to pick up these objects.[...] I just don't know how I ever livd without the girls. Many of my friends are now happy iRobot owners, too!!

I got a Roomba for my wife for Christmas which went over initially like buying her a toaster for our anniversary! Three months later, she loves it and we use "Yvette", our french housekeeper several days a week. Love it. great with two cats and a teenager with long blonde hair. I am constantly amazed at how much stuff "she" picks up every time we use it. The only negative I would mention is that there is a lot of emptying and cleaning of brushes. It definitely helps to have several sets of brushes for faster turn around time. One other problem...I just love watching her clean, so I don't get other things done instead of cleaning the house. We have 4 dogs and 2 birds and I don't know how we lived without our Roomba. It is such a pleasure to turn it on and watch it thoroughly clean my hardwood floors and tile. We run it every other day and our house looks clean all the time. Plus, it's now easier to keep the entire house clean now since I don't dread cleaning day anymore---the hardest part is done by Rosie (the Roomba), so all that's left is dusting. I love my robot. I've had it for over a month and can't keep my eyes off of him. it's so entertaining to watch him maneuver out of tight places and he really really works. My floors and area rugs are dirt free. I was a little concerned about an area rug that's in one of the guest rooms that has long fringes but he cleaned it like a pro. I am so thrilled with this product I'm hoping it holds up over time.

I am surprised at how smart it is sometimes, and then at how dumb it is sometimes. It cleans very well on our hardwood floors and picks up a great deal of pet hair. We only have to use the normal vacuum once a month on the carpet areas to get the deep down stuff. The con I have is that within 30 days of purchase, it broke a bristle. Within 60 days of purchase, the robot started having docking issues which led to a replacement base and then to a replacement robot. A bit of a hassle was had using the e-mail support system (pick up the phone and call !) But even then, to get to a live person using the 800 number is no easy feat the first few attempts. The pet and the robot get along fine, the noise is average. I am dissapointed it cannot return to it's home unless it is within a few feet of the base. It does not use the lighthouses as waypoints which would be cool. So basically, the robot cannot dock unless it is in the room with line of sight to the base. I also have issues with the lighthouses. I tell it to clean one room before moving on.. but then when it finishes its second room, it cant get back across the barrier to dock.
Lastly, it cleans some areas of the room 5-7 times but other areas it catches only one time (rarely does it miss an area large enough to complain about)
All in all, the cleaning performance is average (but for this type of vacuum, I give it above average), the programming is less than average but the cool factor is off the charts. The battery life is average. I still have to prep a room before it begins cleaning as it will run into obstacle the signal does not bounce off of (glass and see through items).. it knocked our glass fireplace screen over as it hit it at full speed. The funniest one was when it got caught in the mini-blind cord and climbed up almost a foot before it realized there was a problem.

I love my irobot because I like coming home to a clean home. I have a doberman that sheds his dark short hair everywhere. Most of my house is hardwood flooring and tile with area rugs. It cleans great but the side brushes break off very easily. [...] The other brushes need frequent cleaning as well as long human hair tends to tangle around it and prevent it from working. It gets under the furniture very nicely except for the lower couches, it seems to need at least 5-6 inch clearence. You also need to be careful of what is left on the floor especially your kids rooms as the irobot picks them up an if they are big such as socks, pencils or other small objects, it can jam the irobot. It also sometimes gets trapped under or behind things and you have to go searching for it. Overall I love it, I hope it lasts, I got it this past holiday season and so far it is doing well. I run it about 3 times a week.

I love my new maid. I was first skeptical when my friend told me to get one, but thought that I can always return it after trying. Now I love Roomba and even bought Scooba the next week.

Roomba has very high IQ and does a better job than a human maid. Scooba is not as intelligent, but does a good job scrubbing smaller area as well. Roomba picks up all the little buds on my tile floor and clean my house diligently without complaining. After three cleanings, I have already recovered my money back. The only drawback is that Roomba's voice is a female and all this time, I thought she was a "He" until she talked to me to tell me that she got stuck. Once she tried to squeeze herself under a very low clearance from my cabinet and got stuck underneath. However, for the good job she does, I do not mind rescuing her once in a while.

I got "Ruby" ( my rumba) for Christmas and she gets her first vacation in May, I may not use her one day. Some women have a "shoe buying problem," I tend to buy all the new vacuums I have had every new one for the last 30 years, sort of a fetish I guess. You can have all the others but touch my Rumba Rosy and It will be delt with harshly. My house stays clean. I get home from work start Rosy and while she is taking care of the floors I clean somehting else, start dinner, pay bills whatever. When Rosy is done,so am I for the evening. Love Love Love it!!!!!! I bought two tune up kits just to be safe. I NEVER WANT TO BE WITHOUT HER!!!!!!

Bought my roomba early in Feb. 2008 and love it already. My brother and I named it Sherlock (yes, after that great detective Sherlock Holmes) because of all the dirt, cat hair, and grime he gets out the carpet everyday. I empty the container after every use and clean the brushes every couple of days, but it is worth it and only takes a couple of minutes. He is easy to program and works great. I plan to get a scooba to do the kitchen and bathroom floors.

We love it. We have 4 dogs (Labs), lots of dog hair and it does a great job!

However, after 60 days of almost daily use, the beater and bristle brushes no longer turn (hope the 2yr warranty from Sharper Image replaces unit!!) and the bumper strip on the front has fallen off twice (Gorilla Glue doesn't even hold it). So, we are not impressed with the reliability.

The old adage "Never give your wife a vacuum cleaner as a gift" doesn't apply any more. She named him immediately and put him to work. Why am I calling it a "he"? She is fascinated by it. The cats don't hide anymore when she puts it to work, they stalk it. When she cleans it, one would think she was changing a diaper. No more cat hair clumps or build ups along the walls.

She got a little upset when the side brushes started breaking off, and they are back-ordered. This must be endemic with the Roomba, but we still give it a "5".

Our daughter has bought one, our realtor bought one and my wife's hairdresser bought one. I think my wife needs to come out of retirement and work for the company.

1. it needs more advanced sensors so it can detect objects more easily instead of closing doors and pushing rolling chairs.

I use this product daily no more swiffer so its cheaper in the long run it really is a well made product. I have the scooba also and I find that it really cleans grout much better than a mop and it is so easy to use. We have 3 dogs, 2 large breeds, one small. One dog is a German Shepherd who's hair comes out in clumps and would form "tumble weeds" of hair that would accumulate on our floors without daily cleaning. Needless to say we don't have time to vacuume daily so the Roomba seemed like the perfect solution. I purchased it for my mother for her birthday and ended up giving it to her immediately after receiving it rather then waiting because I was so excited. We all love it, I set Lupe loose and she cleans while we are out, or doing other things around the house. The dogs were initially curious but have since learned to completely ignore it. We plan to purchase the Scooba soon to help w/ the mopping.

We do clean our Roomba after each use, but its so quick and painless that it doesn't even matter. Our German Shepherds hair is long so it gets in the brushes but the easy release on the brushes/bin & filter makes cleaning out the Roomba a BREEZE. I've raved about this product to all of my family, friends and co-workers. I'm sure you will have some more purchases coming your way very soon!!

This product is amazing. I'm not exagerating when i say it changed my life. My wife and i are school teachers and coaches. We have 4 dogs which we call our children, and no time or more importantly ENERGY to come home at night and sweep up all the dog hair. I'm pretty sure in the 4 years we lived in our home we had guests over 4 times because of all the dog hair. My wife is a neat freak and gets embarrasses about all the hair, but has no energy to clean the dog hair everyday. With those dogs it really needs cleaned twice a day. Well with Roomba 570 the house is not only clean but its squeeky clean. I mean my floor feels like a really well cleaned basketball court when i walk on it now. My house has transformed from a gritty, hairy floor to an absolute pristine floor, and we can have guests over ANY TIME now. I disagree that this vacuum does not replace the stand up vacuums. Roomba in my opinion cleans my floors much better than my stand up vacuum ever did. It even gets into corners better then my stand up. With his little side brush that he has out there, he gets into corners like i never could. I cant say enough about it. I love it love it love it!!! People complain that you have to empty his dirt tray. Well which would you rather. A literal 5 second dirt tray dumping or a 1 hour vacuum session? hmmmmmm Ge goes under alllll my furniture and never gets stuck... I do have him get stuch from time to time on my speaker stands. I have these speaker stands that have a kind of ramp on the front. he some times ramps up the speaker stand and gets his wheels off the ground. Its really cute though. HE just makes this sound from his little speakers. He seriously says Uh ohh and i go save him. Its not very often but it does happen. He's so cute i dont mind saving him at all and i feel alittle like i've pulled my kid from a tree or something. We have wood floors, tile, and lynolium and it cleans all surfaces GREAT. We let him go to clean 3 large connecting rooms in our house. The lighthouses work well. We are using 3 because of the lay out of our house. 2 we set to lighthouse mode. 1 to virtual wall. The difference is that when he bumps into a virtual wall beam he thinks its a real wall. When he hits a lighthouse beam he stops but remembers where its at. When the room is totally clean he knows to come to the lighthouse and go to the next room. When rooms 2 and 3 are clean he just makes his way back to his dock and charges back up. I came home last night just as he was finishing. When he docks he gives out a little cheery tune. Like, everybody look at what i've just done. I heard his little tune and I seriously say out loud..."Good boy roomba you did a real good job." Go buy one...TODAY!!!

I don't know how I've lived without this thing! I have a teenager and a Chihuahua, both with long hair, and both shed. I am amazed at the amount of hair this thing picks up daily, and at the large amount of very fine dust it also picks up. It's set to clean every weekday at 2, the lighthouses keep it in the main living area of the house, and by the time I get home, it's recharged and ready to do lighter areas if needed. I was very skeptical when my son gave me the 570 for Christmas. He's an engineer and loves anything mechanical, so I thought this was just another of his toys. Boy, was I surprised! Roomba is truly amazing! It cleans wonderfully under furniture, in corners, and on carpeting, wood floors, and tile. We schedule it to run after dinner, and without fail at 8:00 PM sharp, Morris starts doing his thing. Both my husband and I love to sit and just watch him do his magic. We call it our "grandchild." I thought my house was clean until I saw all the "gunk" this thing picks up! As I said, it's absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it. Best gift my son ever gave me!

I had an older model from a couple years ago and loved it. After 2 years of cleaning every day the battery began having issues so I had it returned [...] During the time without my Roomba was awful. I had forgotten how much dust and hair (2 cats, 2 people, and 2 adjacent construction sites) could build up in a day.Roomba returned and this new roomba (a 570) has managed to not only super clean our place again but iRobot has fixed all of the minor problems with the older model I saw. It is much quieter, it detects walls better and so slows down before contact and making its turns, the home base docking behaviour is much improved and far faster. I even get to remote control it for demos when friends come by.I have and will continue to highly recommend this little guy. Especially once it can do the dishes too :)

We have two cats, one with long hair. The 570 thoroughly removes cat fur from rugs and floors (which is terrific!), but unfortunately the 570 leaves it mostly on the brushes instead of in the bin. The fur is easily removed from the brushes but it would take less frequent cleaning if the fur went into the bin. I love the manual controls on the scheduler (worth every penny!); you can drive it like a car to remove messes.

I thought this was a gimmick. It's not. However, it does have issues that I'll point out. It chokes over carpet that has dark designs - it just won't clean it or it stops. When the remote commander is on, the bot stops and you have to use the remote to guide. To return it back to normal, you have press clean again. It bumps furniture (especially dark furniture) pretty hard and gets scratched even with a bumper. That's about all the negatives I can find. This thing is truly amazing, I can't understand how dirty my house is even if I clean every day. Amazing

I use this to keep my kitchen area tile clean, pretty much confine it to that room, it's the most high traffic area in the house, has dark slate tiles where it's difficult to see dirt. I like the overall product, it does a great job cleaning, but I think it could be a lot better, the technology is well beyond this currently marketed commercial product. I would like to see it vacuum my carpet in a pattern sortof like I do in straight lines so that it doesn't have the haphazard pattern which Roomba currently performs(i.e., more aesthetically pleasing). I would also like it to be more interactive, specificically voice commands, voice maintenance reports, fully interactive voice programming. While you're at it maybe it could whip up a mixed drink, just kidding.

I bought the 570 four weeks ago as an early Christmas present, and it's my best self-present ever! I'm a full-time working, single mom with two kids (with lots of friends) and two hairy cats, so between the general dirt and cat hair tumbleweed the floors were consistently dirty. But I didn't realize how dirty they were until Roomba started to work! I'm amazed at how much at cat hair & dirt it picks up, even when I run it daily. Roomba does a great job navigating around furniture (and it does force us to pick up loose socks, cat toys, and other floor detritus, so the house is looking a lot less cluttered). I have area carpets, hardwood floors and tile, and Roomba does a great job on all. The carpets are quite nice ones, and I'm relieve to see that carpet fiber doesn't seem to be getting pulled away. Roomba is pretty tough, too - it's survived entanglements with long bits of twine left on the floor from my kids' projects, having the firescreen fall on it, and a major flood from the Christmas tree waterer (which it valiantly attempted to suck up - but a tip to the wise: if you use one of those watering systems which involve a container of water and a hose to your tree stand, block it off from Roomba because the hose can become disconnected when Roomba bumps it).

I bought Roomba with the idea that I'd turn it on as I stepped out the door to go to work. I've decided not to do that - with stuff left on the floor, the Christmas tree accident, and one or two thresholds that Roomba often gets stuck on, I think it's better to be home when it's running.

My floors are so clean now - I just wish Roomba dusted and cleaned upholstery & curtains, too!

I received this product for Christmas and have it scheduled to clean my hardwood floor everyday during the week at 2pm. I love it.  It does a good job and can really see the difference in how clean my floor stays.  I would definitely recommend the roomba.  Now I want a scooba!!

I have this set to run everyday. For the first few days it turned off and told me to clean the brushes. I was amazed at how much it picked up. After a few days, it went to work while I was out of the house. When I got back, the floor was clean (you could see the tracks) and it was back in its recharger getting ready for tomorrow. I cleaned the unit (and brushes) and was amazed at how much cat hair it picked up - again. I don't think that my cat is overly thrilled with it, but watches it with a great amount of curiosity. We ran it once per day cleaning up the hair from two cats and a border collie and it did a good job, but it needs a beeper you can acivate when its lost to help you find it because when its lost and out of charge or the bin is full you may have to search the whole house to find it. It could also use a larger waste bin as I had to clean mine daily and when full the robot stopped WHEREVER it was (very annoying, it should've returned to base.) Reliability wasn't great as mine lost 3 of the 6 arms on the brush in one month of daily usage... before it stopped spinning altogether. That's way too soon for a [$] vacuum.We liked how clean it kept the house and would've kept it if it hadn't been slowly coming apart: lost brush 3 arms, then the brush stopped spinning completely. Me and my wife vacum once a day. We have 2 labs and we could build another one with all the hair they leave behind. My wife has gotten to the point where she dreads vacuming because it has become a painful chore. I gave this to her for Christmas and you would've thought I gave her a 5 karat diamond ring.

This little beauty may hold her off from hiring a maid for a little bit. Let's hope so. I am shopping for a Scooba because I'm the one that has to mop and the woodfloors (whole house) get muddy paw prints on them everyday!!

We bought a 570 as a christmas gift and had heard that it may need a full charge on before the first use. I decided to open the package and charge the roomba but then had to actually try it out for myself before it got charged all the way. Now we're going to keep this one and buy another for the gift! It does pickup an incredible amount of dirt, dust and hair. It gets stuck once in a while if it goes into a tight corner or over a heating vent. Overall I would definitely recommend the roomba!

I think the Roomba does a great job cleaning hardwood floors and carpeted areas. HOWEVER, I have a few rugs that are black with designs on it. My roomba won't clean these rugs. I called the customer help line, and they said that the sensors on the Roomba sense black carpet and floors as a "cliff" and won't clean them. I wish I would have known this before. Now I have to vaccuum my large rugs by hand with my old vaccuum cleaner, which I was planning to throw out. On some rugs, the Roomba won't climb up on them. It thinks it's a wall. Those are the only cons I noticed. It cleans my other floors great and even picks up items along the corners.

i bought my first robot after my son moved out of the house. i was not used to doing these chores. it scared me to see how dirty my house was. i must have run that thing 3 times a day for the first week hoping it would stop picking up dirt. i am still hoping but at least its much less dirt being picked up.
i went and bought a 2nd 570.
then a 380 floor washer.
then a dirt dog.
my son's name is everett but he never cleaned this well.

I gave an early Christmas present to my sister after reading the reviews on the new Roomba. I had been skeptical that it would be too difficult on setting up and that it would not work as well as other vacuums.Well, the reaction was overwhelming - she absolutely loved it. It was not only simple to setup but cleans wonderfully! She went on and on about all the cool features: the easy setup right out of the box, the demo features, how it docked flawlessly and with a flourish at the end, the cool way it cleans, and how much dirt it picked up in just 2-3 minutes! The only downside was that she had to charge it overnight (before 1st major use) because she couldn't wait to see it work the entire house!She thank me profusely and said it was the best gift she ever received! Also, her best friend already wants her to bring it to her house and her Mom's house to check it out.[...] I picked up a second one for myself (and absolutely love it!).

Don't get ONE, get a few! I purchased the Scheduler at the start of the year. It was amazing how much it actually picks up. It worked TOO WELL. Now I also have a Red and a Dirt Dog. They work TOO WELL TOO!!! Now I need to get a scooba. Good thing that we do not have a pool. Plus, several of my friends and family are getting one now too. With more to come, I am sure.

I've only had my Roomba 570 for two days and I've cleaned my floors about four times already. I love it. Every time I use it, I can't believe how much dirt still ends up in it. It really does a great job. I purchased it based upon other customers' reviews, and they were right. I felt I should add my own review since I depended so much on theirs. I brought it to my sister's house, and now she wants one for Christmas. It's a lot of fun and my floors are clean right over to the baseboards.

Does an excellent job of picking up pet hair. The only problem is that it picks up SO much, you HAVE to run it every day, and I find that even then the dust bin is too small. But I can live with emptying the dust bin a couple of times per day.

It turns my apartment into a tidiest one I ever had. It's not just vacuums floors thoroughly, but forces to have everything organized. And it is as quite as best vacuums on the market. Worked out of the box. Only thing I have to figure out is that remote control was not "paired" with my Roomba and how to do it described only at the web site. Now I am looking into Scooba.

Outstanding. Big improvement over the last generation. Command center doesn't require line of sight on the bot, and the virtual walls/lighthouses self-activate whenever the bot is on. Smarter software, too.

We have some American friends that told us about this fantastic cleaning robot so we purchased one in England and it is a real gem and cleans the house when we are out. We were so pleased we now have one at our home in Spain and it is the talk of the Costa! But when will the Scooba be available in England and Spain as we also have hard floors that need cleaning?
Fantastic tools but don't keep them all to yourselves. The only downside is that they are double the price this side of the pond!

Our parents and siblings have had the old version of the Roomba for years. We have the newer version and it is better than the previous one. Definetly fun! We are looking at purchasing one that washes our floors now. And yes, we said goodbye to our housekeeper! Worth every penny!

I Saw Roomba on a website 2yrs ago and laughed. Figured it was a gimmick. I did some research and decided to buy one to try it out. Used a Roomba Discovery at college and now I will NEVER be without one. I was a huge doubter of this product until I finally experienced it myself. Honestly, you must try this to believe it!
The 570 model comes with the Wireless Command Center which is a very nice feature. It can maneuver roomba perfectly! EASY to Schedule/Program (User Friendly).
The 500 series has exceptional battery life, better suction, improved cleaning with lighthouses, better docking ablility, does not get hung up on tassled rugs or thick cords, and vacuums when I am not even home!
