I love everything about The Robot. We have two dogs that don't shed to much but boy do the bring in the dirt from outside. I use to hate to walk barefoot on the tile floors because of all the sand that would stick to my feet. We bought The Robot about 6 months ago and I have been able to walk in and out of my house barefoot with no sand sticking. Its been a great summer.
There has only been one thing that gets The Robot every once in a while he will get stuck on just one rug and always in the same place. For the last 5 months I never knew why just kinda thought the dogs had messed with him. Then one day I was board so I got out the remote that comes with The Robot. So I drove him over to the rug and he stopped and turned then turned then stopped. He wouldn't move I looked nothing on the carpet is different other then the colors. The rug has big colored strips on it. Well when The Robot goes from white to brown he stops. I guess the colors throw him off a little bit. But like I said it doesn't happen every day just now and then.
We have a 2600 sq ft house tile in the common areas and hall ways and carpet in the bedrooms. Some days he gets the whole house before he goes back to his own home. That's right The Robot goes back to his charger when he starts running low on juice. The Robot has ran everyday for the last 6 months and has done a great job everyday.
I will never be without one in my house for the rest of my life. You guys are great thanks!!
worked great for short time, battery died quickly, costs of replacment items are extortion
I love "The Robot" as I affectionately term it. He's part of the family now with his own special place next to the plug. I have him set up to run every day at 8am (no pets just a lot of traffic) and you wouldn't believ how much fine dust he pulls out of my carpet. I plan to get more (I have a four story townhouse and I want one for each floor). I've also found a side benefit in owning one - we tend to keep the house neater overall when the floors are clean. I recommend this to all my friends. The only con is that the little side brush arms break off after a while (I guess bumping into the furniture and wall would wear anyone out). My husband laughed when I bought it but he loves it now.
So, I'm not imaginative with my names, but I do love my robots. Roomba hates air vents, but I've picked up a couple of heavyweight baskets that I can put upside down over the vents - air still flows, but Roomba just bounces off. I have 4 cats - Roomba keeps me sane. Does a great job. The more I run her, the faster I can maintain her. Scooba is amazing. Floors look great and they smell great - the cleaning solution is wonderful. I couldn't be happier.
I know that everyone with a dog says their dog sheds the most. However, I have a Great Pyrenees (Similar to the Newfoundland or St. Bernard but all white). I doubt anyone can be that. lol
I cannot live without my Roomba. This is the 2nd one I have had (I dropped the first one...totally my fault). I now have the 580. I love the scheduling feature. I set my up for 4am and when I wake up I have a clean house. I do have to clean the brushes everyday!!!
I also love the remote with the "spot" feature. As soon as my dog is done with a bone, I just pull out the remote, direct it to to leftover bone bits and hit "Spot". By the time my dog gets back to the area after getting some water, the mess is completely cleaned. Granted my dog is not to happy about the situation but I'm over joyed. And I didn't even have to get off my lazy backend!
This is a must for any pet owner. This will save your sanity and give you more free time to spend doing what you want and not what you have to do!
From the day I received it, I scheduled Roomba to clean every morning at 9am. Thinking I was going to decrease the schedule after seeing that less dirt was being picked up after the first cleaning, I was amazed to discover that the waste bin was full every day. I have 7 animals in total, 1 large dog, 1 parrot, and 5 cats. There is no longer any dog hair, feather dust or cat fur lying around my hardwood and tile floors, and my area rugs are spotless. Now I can't imagine my home without Ruby Roomba working for me every day...and she doesn't even demand a paycheck! I will never go back to a regular vacuum cleaner ever again. The robot is here to stay!

When I received it I wanted to try it out right away but thought it might be too loud (there's a rule that at my apt complex you may not vacuum past 10pm). Well I ran it anyway a bit just because I was curious and was surprised. It is not loud at all and no one can tell its vacuuming!
It has picked up so much of my hair from the carpet that I've had to cut it off the rollers. However, the more you clean routinely with this vacuum the less I've had to take it apart to get my hair out (I've got 15in plus hair in length). It even has picked up unseen gravel from the title floors which my regular sweeping has missed.
Pros:
Wireless scheduling and remote to push it on, off, and dock. Picks up the smallest amount of dust you can see in the filter, but not in your carpet. Picks up hair well, but remember clean regularly. It doesn't ruin furniture, walls, etc when it "bumps" off of them. Very quiet and efficient!
Cons:
Just like with the regular vacuums, make sure you pick up any cords or rugs with fringes as it gets tangled on them. Otherwise it goes all around, even under furniture. Another con is the side brush has come off at least once every three vacuuming times because it drive onto the bottom of my lamp stands and when it gets around them, the turning motion with the help of the stand has unscrew itself. To get by with it, before vacuuming take your Philips screw driver and tighten it up and it won't fall off. The battery life does proved to last as they say for only a max of 4 rooms and then it must charge again which takes times. It will only dock by itself if it can find the sensor on the charger, so you need your frouth room to be your final room with the docking station in.
I highly recommend this for those with busy schedules!

I love that you can program this unit to run every day. Ours is set to run while we're getting ready for work in the morning - if it gets stuck we can retrieve it. We have a German Shepherd and she sheds like crazy - our Roomba gobbles up dog hair! It does need to be emptied frequently - at least every three runs if not more, but it's a simple process. Also great on the vinyl flooring in the kitchen. I sure wish it did stairs!! Our teenage son gets a kick out of steering it with the remote unit, and we all love that a clean floor is just the touch of a button away!

When I first told my husband that I wanted to buy Roomba, he rolled his eyes and cringed at the price. My mom had bought one and after standing and watching it work for at least an hour I was convinced I had to have one. It works great, we (yes, my husband helped with the vacuuming) don't have to vacuum everyday anymore. We have two dogs and it picks up the pet hair, in the high traffic areas it does really well with all of the dirty feet left overs. It doesn't work well with only one of my rugs (the pile is too high, it can't get on it and drive around). I have recommended Roomba to all of my friends and family.

I have a high traffic kitchen. The 580 keeps it in tip-top condition and looking clean and new. I highly recommend it. The only CON I have is that maintenance is required with every use which means cleaning brushes, bin, wheels removing dust, hair and string accumulation. I also use it in my Main Entrance and hallway which has a low pile rug. It cleans fine for a quick cleanup but I'm sure a regular VAC would do better on the rugs.

My husband ordered as a Mother's Day Gift. He gave me the Roomba a few days early. It is simply wonderful. My kitchen is a very high traffic area. My family is in the construction biz so they constantly walk in with muddy - dirt tracking shoes. The Roomba (The Boomerang) cleans and doesn't miss a spot. I'm extremely pleased. I'm going to suggest it to all my friends and family.

Hello, I've discovered Roomba 560 for a few days now. I wonder how I can lived before withour it. As I said, I'm handicapped, and vacuum cleaning was a tough job for me, especially because of my dog's hair. I was obliged to use a brushing vacuum cleaner. I dare say that sometimes I neglected the cleaning job because it bothered me.
When I saw first the brushes of the roomba, I was a little affraid because they are soft. But once the big big cleaning was done (multiple cycles in each rooms), the daily cleaning offers no problem at all. It's a so wonderful product, that I will puchase a second one, and a scuba one.
A great "Thank you" to all the engineers who havec developped this marvellous tool.
My dog, who usually hates all what have wheel, does'nt matter with roomba. He simply go elsewhere when roomba goes toward to her.

I NOW HAVE TWO, ONE FOR MY OFFICE, ONE FOR HOUSE, I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE LITTLE WORK HORSES. THEY NEVER GET TIRED, IF THERE IS A LOT OF DIRT IN ONE PLACE IT WILL CLEAN THAT SPOT TILL IT THINKS IT'S CLEAN. I HAVE HAD SOME OWNERS SAY THEY DON'T LIKE THE PATTERN IT PUTS IN CARPET. LIKE WHEN I VACUUM I TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE EVEN LINES, COME ON. GET ONE TODAY, BETTER STILL GET TWO.
the brush seem to break easy! Other than that pretty good, they need one for steps..

The battery have to be replace every year because it is only good for 100 vacuums, making the ROOMBA a very expensive machine.
We love love love our Roomba. We have a long-haired inside dog and a cat and I hated vacuuming as it never seemed to matter how often I did it, I would find dog hair everywhere anyway. Rhonda does my hardwood, carpet & vinyl floors and goes where no vacuum goes, under my furniture! She brought a couple of socks out from under my bed, but other than that she has been a pure joy. I do have to clean it frequently, but if you could see the dog hair it picks up you would know why I am so crazy about this little critter. I have a navy blue area rug and a white dog. I have not had any issues with it not wanting to work on a dark rug; it does a great job on mine!

I recently purchase a home that had mostly hardwood and tile floors. I have never found a vaccum cleaner that seemed to work on different surfaces. So I purchased the new model 580, and I was supprised as to how well this little rascal will clean my hardwoods and tile floors. My house has a very open floor plan and some of the rooms blend together, but Berta always goes into every nook and corner to do her work. Under the dining room table you might expect the robot to not work so well because of all of the chair legs that create a maze, but Berta always finds her way in, around and out of these area. I have a few problems when I first setup the Lighthouse units, but after reading some posting in the forums, I found out the proper way to place these units. I have several area rugs that are of different heights, and Berta adjusts for each of them. If you have a very think rug, then the robot may flip the corners up. I did have to put down some carpet tape on one rug that was not very thick or heavy.
The best "approval" for the way this robotic vacuum cleans the floors came last week when my 77 year old mother was visiting. After watching Berta clean the floors for several days, Mom was even happy with the performance. If my Mother says that Berta does a good job, that is all the approval anybody needs.

The first day I used the IROBOT, I had to clean the brushes 4 times in one room. I thought that I was going to be spending alot of time cleaning the robot, so I called IROBOT and said I didn't want it. The Customer Rep said I had a month to use it before deciding to return it and to please try again and not to give up on the first try. The second day, I cleaned the brushes 2 times, and as each day went on, the floors were cleaner so I had to clean the brushes less often each time. The floors weren't THAT dirty, I thought, but it does clean deeply and was pulling up a lot of pet hair. It is affectionately named Gizmo, after my late and most favorite pet, because it IS almost like a pet (without the Vet bills)! You'll find yourself watching it work and being amazed at how clean the floors are after. My two cats leave a LOT of hair, but Gizmo picks it all up no problem. It even picks up the cat litter on the tiled floors with ease. The online information on the IROBOT site tells you how to check and clean everything and lets you know what all the beeps mean so troubleshooting is a breeze! I haven't used my upright vacuum cleaner since The Giz has graced us with his presence. I just love my IROBOT and would recommend it VERY highly.
One push and it goes!
The fact is that this machine does wonders. I would recommend anyone to use it. It removes the smallest dirt and is effective. My carpets after 2 months look brand new. The furnace filter has very little dirt on it since I started using the Mean Machine. It is easy and almost hands free operation. Yes you got to do a little thinking of whats it its way but its better than the upright. NO QUESTION ABOUT THAT you must try to believe it.

I received the 580 as a gift. I did not expect it to work properly and I was very surprise when it did everything it said it will do. I am still surprised at what a good job it does as I can visibly see the difference in where it has been. Long pet hair is a problem in our household but each time I use it the cleaning cycle without having to stop gets longer and frequent cleaning is a small price to pay for all of the other positives (it is also a relative term and for me it is not "frequent" as compared to all the hand cleaning I had to do prior to my Roomba).
Amazing! This is not just another gimmicky appliance - Spot is strong enough to eat gravel tracked in the house and loose change (and half a pant leg, before we learned not to leave stuff lying around where he could get at it). Our chinchillas constantly kick stuff (like wood chips) out of their cage, and Spot hunts down all the debris and eats it all up. Love how the modular design makes long hairs ensnarled in brush axles inconsequential, especially design for easy removal from bristle brush. The floors have never been so clean. The side brush died after a couple weeks out of the box, but I called iRobot and they're sending a replacement, no problem. Would love a version half the size to clean narrow spaces too (like behind the toilet, LOL)!

Hagrid takes care of the vacuuming throughout our house (1850+ sq. ft.) and saves us a lot of work. He does get stuck around low furniture and in tight quarters, and he has lost his rotating corner brush when he cleans under the bed and it gets hung up on the casters. But, overall, he's good to have around and is a big hit with our guests. I'd recommend this product to everyone!

We bought the Roomba as a Christmas gift for my 85-year-old mother who is not a fan of computers and were afraid she would not be interested in having one. Christmas Day it was a "hit". No one would leave it alone to do its "work" as it was so interesting to watch! It did a great job (much better than her old vac) of picking everything up and only had a problem with an unusually low-clearanced couch. The rest of the two-bedroom apartment was quickly and efficiently cleaned. No stairs to worry about so there was no problem there. No problem with any wires or carpet fringes; the Roomba didn't get caught up at all.
I would recommend one, definitely for seniors, for day-to-day vacuuming. I am just curious about the longevity, but so far we all want one!

You will be impressed with this little wonder! I cannot belive that we went so long without one! We will be adding a second for sure just because we have such a large house, we also have been looking into the scooba unit as well. The cleanning ability of this unit is amazing! The regular vacume can't compare to it at all!

We use it daily while we are at work. One week was needed to find and correct our "obstacles" and after that he finds his docking station without fail (cleans three rooms). Picks up one cup of hair and fuzz daily. Our house may be optimal for roomba, mainly tile with area rugs. We love it. The only problem is with breakage of the corner brush (has already lost two arms after 6 weeks). Great product.

Our Roomba, Kirk, is great to have. It saves a lot of our time and our dog is less afraid of it than the regular vacuum cleaner. I reccomend Roombas to everyone.

Kirk is great for hard floors. The virtual walls make him even easier to operate. Kirk saves a lot of our time. Our dog loves Kirk more than our old vacuum (he was afraid of it). It is also a nice feeling to know thatyou have a robot that cleans for you.
