Comments about iRobot iRobot Looj™ 130 Gutter Cleaning Robot:

The Looj is a great idea that actually works. Contrary to my initial thoughts, the Looj does not tend to get hung up in the gutter, and will actually remove all debris from the gutter. The battery life is good, and, as advertised, will save you time by not having to move the ladder. As a first generation product, the Looj is adequate, but there are a number of improvements that could be made. First, the torque is not adequate for cutting through tougher clogs. I found that the clutch would frequently slip. This could be improved by making the unit heavier and adjusting the clutch appropriately. The design of the auger could also be improved to help out. The fins on the auger don't stick out far enough beyond the rubber flaps to allow the Looj to break up debris which gets compressed by the Looj under the gutter supports. The Looj just doesn't have enough traction to break through these clogs, so a more effective auger design is needed to address this issue (of course, a heavier Looj would also help by improving traction). The brushes on the auger are relatively useless, and just serve to get caught up in the spindle. Either stiffer brushes are needed, or the brushes should just be removed altogether. The antenna also tends to get in the way, and can get caught on the gutter supports. An antenna which is integrated into the body of the unit would be better. Another issue with the unit is the range on the remote. I often find that I need to move the remote in order to get the Looj to receive signals. Please don't misunderstand these comments. The Looj is still a very effective tool, there are just a number of improvements which would help make it a fantastic product.

Comments about iRobot iRobot Looj™ 130 Gutter Cleaning Robot:

I rated the Looj 130 as a 4/5. It is an ingenious idea, the Looj does its job good as advertised, but the design needs alittle tweeking from the manufactor to be a truly an outstanding product. I live in Virginia where there is every kinda tree imaginable. My house is very high and big and I hate the idea of paying someone 500 bucks to clean the gutters twice a year. Also, the biggest reason for taking a chance on the Looj was I didnt want to kill myself falling off the ladder. When I tried the Looj out of the box, the gutters were full with leaves, debris, and wet dirt. I was skeptical the little looj could take on the project and even more that the battery would last for the entire house. I was wrong on both counts, the little Looj did its job and did it well too. So here are the good and bad points to know:Good - It works well but you need to run the Looj several times a year so it doesnt have to fight with a never cleaned my gutter operation. It can take on a never cleaned gutter but you have to be patient and let the Looj cut its way through on its own time. The minute you get impatient you will force the Looj to flip over, get stuck, or jump the gutter. Good- Battery life is great but takes a long time to charge and it doesnt have an indicator telling you when its fully charged. The Looj itself does have an indicator to tell you the battery is getting weak though.Good- Built like a little tank, they should have named it the gutter tank, gutter panzer. The Looj is waterproof (not the RC controller)Good-For [$]bucks on sale and the efforts it saved me its a steal.Bad-The Looj design needs improvement on the original concept to make it more stable and less likely to flip over in the gutter. Make it alittle wider, larger tracks, and give it some more weight. The leaf brush needs work too. The bristles are located closest to the body of the Looj and have a tendency to wrap themselves around the the brush shaft causing undue strain on the motor. Other than that you can't go wrong with it!

While I haven't tested the looj in deep wet leaves and debris, in dry (and full) intertwined gutter, it worked just like advertised! Good value for the money.
