Comments about iRobot Roomba® 560:
As a Senior, vacuuming was beginning to be a big chore and time consuming. At my age, I have better things to do than vacuum!! The Roomba 560 is perfect for us. One level house, carpet and floors. I couldn't believe the dirt and stuff that the 560 took out of the carpet. It took 4 times to totally clean the carpet. I was shocked when I opened the filter area and saw all that dust! Now it's twice a week. All that dust is gone and we can really smell the difference. It picked up the pile on the carpet better than the vacuum cleaner. I have no problems with picking it up and cleaning it. It only took 2 times to clean the floors. We love it! We take it with us to our vacation home, too.

Comments about iRobot Roomba® 560:
I'm a long-time supporter of iRobot products and I have had our 560 for well over 3 years. I have to say I'm really unhappy with it. At first I was amazed at how little I had to vacuum. Then, after awhile, I noticed how random and weak the thing is. Now it gets stuck in corners and repeatedly goes to the same areas REGARDLESS OF HOW CLEAN THEY ARE. And if it's in the wrong place I've taken to just kicking it around until it goes where I want it to. It is not intelligent, does not clean heavy areas, gets stuck in corners, and overall just gets too clogged to do any good. If this was a Dustbuster on wheels it MIGHT do a good job but I'm generally unhappy with it simply due to the "useful-to-novelty" ratio. As I type this it's banging into the legs of my furniture creating dents and chipping paint and is already plugged with who knows what. It's a disaster around pet bowls and leaves huge balls of hair around the edges of area rugs. Once it gets a little cat hair in it it's done for the day; even if the bin is empty you still have to pull the whole thing apart and clean the hair out of it. And it sounds like a jet engine. Save your money and by a real vacuum. It takes 10 mins and you do a better job that this waste of money. The Roomba is a [$] piece of cheap junk.

Comments about iRobot Roomba® 560:
when i first got it... i loved it & recomended it to everyone i know, but now i would not recomended... over the years i had 4 roombas and scooba... the cost is too expensive compared to the use... none of them went even a year without stuff needing replacement (i don't even use it every day): brushes, batteries, wheels... And this stuff is not cheap, on top of paying almost $600 you spend hundreds more to be able to use it and this stuff doesn't even last a year... ther are cheaper ones available and you can buy a regular vacuum cleaner it will cost less and last you for years... bottom line it is not worth the money...

Comments about iRobot Roomba® 560:
After watching my sister and mom rave about their robots I was determined to get one of my own. I'm happy to say that "Raoul" is wonderful. I have very hairy dogs and a cat and the unit just keeps on picking the animal hair up. I no longer have to worry about running home ahead of company to make sure the animal hair is up off of the floors! The only flaw is that sometimes Raoul will not mind the virtual wall and will wake my husband up bumping around under the bed at night.

Comments about iRobot Roomba® 560:
I've had the 560 for a few weeks and I have it programed to run every day while I'm at work. At my house I have it vacuume about 1,000 sq feet of hardwood and carpet when it runs. It cleans my formal living and dining room (hardwood), my kitchen (hardwood), powder room (hardwood) and great room (carpet). I have two children under the age of 10 and one dog. The 560 is able to navigate between the carpet in my great room and the hardwood throughout the rest of my main floor without any problems. I have several rugs laid out on the hardwood and it easily climbs over them. It even climbs on top of my marble tile in front of my fireplace which is probably 1/2 an inch higher than the carpet. We have stairs leading to the basement and the 560 knows to stop at the top step to avoid falling down.
We noticed that since we've been running the 560 every day for about a week that the bin is getting less full than in the beginning. We attribute that to the floors being cleaner now that they get vacuumed every day. My only suggestion or advice about this product is that you remain patient with it. The 560 will eventually clean the entire floor space but you have to let to run on its own and allow it to do its thing. It roams around in a very random pattern which can be frustrating at first if you really want it to focus on a specific area. If you just allow it to run it will eventually get to the spot you're concerned about.
I am very happy about this purchase and I recommend you purchase it too, it will change your life :)

Comments about iRobot Roomba® 560:
This is a real timesaver, although in one way it's NOT a timesaver: when my husband first got it, he would follow it from room to room, amazed at how it maneuvered around the house! Seriously, it's very reliable, great suction, easy to empty, and on days we think that floors are pretty clean, it always amazes us with a dirt cup full of pet hair! We are beyond thrilled with it! Have had it for three months and absolutely no problems with it to date. "He" is part of the family now....

Comments about iRobot Roomba® 560:
I am a batchelor who has a 560 scheduled to clean the carpets in my unit once a week. It comes on while I am out, cleans the floor, and goes back to the dock. I originally had it programmed to clean more often, but found that it really wasn't needed.
It cleans far better than my old vacuum, and I don't have to touch it other than to empty it (once every couple of weeks), or do some minor maintenance and brush cleaning (about one a month or so), and I do that in front of the TV.
Yes - in answer to the drawback everyone says: it won't clean in corners - it's round !! - Duh!!
It had some technical problems in the wheel motors at around 2 years old, but I just flipped it onto it's back on the dining table, went to the iRobot online support videos, and they showed step by step how to fix the problem. The manufacturer even states in the videos what some of the obvious flaws of such systems are - eg: dust in the wheel motors - but their solution worked. I found that honesty refreshing and I found the ability to perform my own repairs liberating. If parts were needed - they were there to buy.
I let it perform it's own battery maintenance, and dock itself. I never really need to use the buttons on the top of it, as I use the remote if I need to do any spot cleaning.
It lives under a china cabinet on legs, where his dock is underneath against the wall. He is out of the way - but ready to do his scheduled clean. Most guests never even notice him.
I find it very freeing and even bought one for my mum, and she loves it.
I suspect some reviewers were expecting a lot more of the machine - so remember: it is just a machine. But each generation of these seems to get better. The 560 I have has faithfully served me for about 3 years now. I expect to have it for some years to come, and will repair or replace parts or the machine as required. Because living without it after you have it would be hell.
Until you have been freed from doing vacuuming you just will not understand the difference.
I am now just waiting for the robots that clean windows, toilets and shower screens. I'll get each when they become available.
