Comments about iRobot Auto Virtual Wall®:

I never realized that it was hard to get the batteries out. It just takes a screw driver to lossen one side and then the other. Pull it open and change batteries. A couple of C batteries last a long time. I don't know why you have to take them out between times. I have two 770 Roombas and they continue to work just fine. I have a dog that SHEDS so I have to clean brushes a lot. I am seriously thinking of upgrading.

What good is this piece of plastic if people cannot open it to get the batteries in? I followed the video instruction, and squeezed the logo as instructed. Nothing. I squeezed with pliers. Nothing. This is a serious design flaw.

Comments about iRobot Auto Virtual Wall®:

Tried to use it to block robot from areas but robot does not acknowledge it even exists. I bought the vacuum as a gift for my wife, the virtual wall came with it . The vacuum works OK on hard surface but not so good on livingroom area rug . Seems to work OK on carpet runners and light rugs..

Comments about iRobot Auto Virtual Wall®:

I lost my old Roomba set up after a fire in my apartment building and so replaced it. Although the vacuum is fine, the virtual wall is completely useless to me. I've watched the video on how to open it(which first of all should not even be necessary to do!) and still can't open it. Roomba needs to make this right and send us accessories we can actually utilize.

Comments about iRobot Auto Virtual Wall®:

I love my new Scooba, I love my old Roomba but this new virtual wall is useless to me, I can't get it open. I've tried pushing on the iRobot marking, I tried using a pen to push in the sides above that marking but nothing works. This makes this functionally useless and makes keeping the scooba in an isolated location much more difficult

I haven't been able to use this because we can't get the battery compartment to open. Two adults pushing on each side to get the compartment tabs to push in enough to slide it out and WE CAN'T DO IT.

Comments about iRobot Auto Virtual Wall®:

My Roomba 770 came with two Auto Virtual Walls. I schedule the Roomba to run daily at 8am after I have left for work. I am lucky that my dog is not threatened by the Roomba, nevertheless, I use one Virtual Wall to keep the Roomba out of the dog's room (all inside doors are left open during the day for the house-trained dog). The Virtual Wall thus allows the dog full reign of the house, but gives him a "safe" zone while the Roomba does it's work. I then run the Roomba in just the dog's room when I come home from work. (OBTW, my place is about 800 sq ft and all one level.)

I use the second Virtual Wall to block off the bathroom rather than closing the bathroom door - I like to let the moisture from the shower evaporate rather than grow mold. :-) The bathroom entrance also has a drop-in that was trapping the Roomba, so I clean the bathroom floor separately.

Unlike some comments, I have no issues with opening or closing the battery compartment. Also, my initial install of batteries (Duracell Alkaline) have been going strong for four months - however, I do turn the Virtual Walls off when I come home from work, and only turn then on as I leave each morning. So about 9 to 10 hours of use daily.

Without the Virtual Walls, I think my Roomba experience would be very frustrating. I'm so happy my Roomba 770 came with two.

Just wanted to add this to the pro comments for those who are looking at purchasing this unit.
We have 3 dogs who live in the house, 2 german shepherds and a cocker spaniel. So we have lots of hair and dust provided along with whatever dirt is tracked in.
Our roomba (Mabel) works 5-7 days a week on a nightly schedule after we go to sleep (yay for programming!!!) and has done so since January 2012. ( I hope I am not jinxing it!) This way I can get away with vacuuming all the nooks and crannies about once a week instead of every other day.
This product has been a great help!!

The virtual walls need a charging base / docking station like the Roomba itself. Currently I have rechargable c cell batteries and take them out after each use. The problem even with the auto feature is, you never know when the batteries die. Then the pet is off and getting damaged in another room. Please fix this! No one likes the battery concept. You can do better.
