Comments about iRobot APS 3000 mAh NiMH Battery for Roomba 500, 600 & 700 Series:
We are senior seniors and vacuuming is very difficult for us. We bought our first robot (Ruby) in the hope that it would do as advertised. We were so happy with the results that we bought #2 (Robbie) for our winter home. We decided that now life was so good, we bought #3 (Rosie)to use upstairs. These three machines are among the most worthwhile purchases we have ever made. If they are cleaned after every use there is every reason to believe that they will last for many years.
Regrettably, the batteries are somewhat short lived and quite expensive.

I love my roomba. Vacuuming is the worst thing for your back and after taking care of my husband who was disabled in Viet Nam, I have back problems. Our daughter gave me mine 5 or 6 years ago. I am still using the original battery but it needs a new one. I couldn't ask for anything better than my roomba. I actually have two both the same age so they clean the whole house at one time.

Comments about iRobot APS 3000 mAh NiMH Battery for Roomba 500, 600 & 700 Series:
We love our Roombas, but the battery life is short. I continue to buy batteries each each year for our Roombas. The battery when new will go about one hour or so. After about 6 months the battery just dies in about a half hour or less after a full charge. Please research a better battery??
Comments about iRobot APS 3000 mAh NiMH Battery for Roomba 500, 600 & 700 Series:
Before you toss your battery and spend the $$ on a new one try to revive your battery. What you do is run your roomba until it complains that it doesn't have the battery power to continue. Then wrap it in a ziploc bag with as little air as possible in it and put it in your freezer for around 24 hours. After 24 hours take it out of the freezer and let it sit out until it reaches room temp... Just to be on the safe side I waited another 24 hours. Then reinstall it in your roomba and let it fully charge. At this point your roomba should have a significantly longer run time then before. It won't get the battery to charge like it was brand new but it gets pretty close. Mine couldn't finish a room on a charge and now it has the power to do a whole bedroom and a bathroom

Comments about iRobot APS 3000 mAh NiMH Battery for Roomba 500, 600 & 700 Series:
I love my Roomba as it's really convenient to use, but it's not nearly as efficient as my Hoover Upright. My biggest complaint is the cost of replacement parts and the battery doesn't last very long. Paying [$] for a bettery (with tax and shipping) about once a year doesn't make me happy. I would recommend a Roomba if you don't like spending a lot of time vaccuuming. But, if you don't care about convenience, stick with a Hoover or something similar. I've had mine almost 25 years, haven't paid more than $20 to replace parts and it runs on electricity! A much better value.

I am very much disappointed in the battery life of this model. Ever couple of year you have to replace it. With technology where it is now, it should at least have a 5 year life.

Comments about iRobot APS 3000 mAh NiMH Battery for Roomba 500, 600 & 700 Series:
I've had iRobot products now for about seven years and the biggest problem now is the battery. It must run to discharge and then fully recharge if you don't want it to die in about 12 months. Even if you do it dies in about 18. This is with only using the unit two to three times per week. iRobot has made solid improvements to its wheel mechanisms so this is now its main problem IMHO. The machine works fine EXCEPT for the power issue.
I own a similar product from another company (the Mint) which simply has not had these power problems. Also its replacement pack is less than $20 so if it does not it's hardly a problem.
C'mon, iRobot, you're capable of better work than this.

Comments about iRobot APS 3000 mAh NiMH Battery for Roomba 500, 600 & 700 Series:
I've had my series 570 for 4-5 years. It runs for about 1 hour and 15 minutes every other day and the original battery still works as it did the first time I used it. My only issues is that the unit is now getting noisier. I may need to replace a drive wheel or both. Not sure, but overall, I love this thing for it's ability to pick up dog hair every other day without my help!
:o)
