After reading comments here I looked for a better solution. There is one which gets good reviews from purchasers (which I ordered) but can't provide a link here without violating posting policy. Use Google with "roomba battery replacement" and take the second or 6th link.
I need replacement batteries so I can keep using my Roomba(s) and not have to go to a competitor. I like Roobma vacuums and own 4 (have owned 8 of these "expensive units", 4 others are in the scrap heap)
The problem isn't the battery, it's iRobot hasn't spent enough development time on the battery charging/maintenance system, and the Roomba product burns out good batteries in about a year. iRobot could remedy this if they'd spend the engineering development time to fix their battery charging/maintenance design.

Picks up more dust, etc., than expected. Battery failed in less than a year. New battery lasted about the same. Batteries are too expensive.

I have had two roomba's which I loved but I will not buy another one. The batteries don't last and are to expensive to keep replacing them. After all these years and after all the poor reviews on battery life I would think I robot would have fixed this problem by now. I used to recommend roomba but I won't anymore.

The iRobot performed as advertised and I impressed my friends with it until the battery weakened. It only lasted about 8 months and died. I will replace it once, but not a second time. Too expensive! I would recommend it to a friend with a warning about the battery.

I have had three irobots and have traded in a couple to upgrade. The two I have now Do Not Work. Batteries do not last very long. Too expensive to keep replacing batteries. I have recommend irobots to friends in the past, but I don't think I will do that anymore.
