NEW! iRobot Scooba® 450 Full Specifications

Scooba 450 delivers maximum cleaning performance. The key is iRobot's Pre-Soak Technology, developed as part of the Scooba Three-Cycle Cleaning Process.

The Scooba Three-Cycle Cleaning Process
Based on professional-grade floor cleaners, the revolutionary new Scooba Three-Cycle Cleaning Process has been redesigned from the ground up to clean hard-surface floors three times better than ever before. Here's how it works:

  • Cycle 1 Sweep and Pre-Soak: Scooba sweeps up loose dirt and debris and puts down a thin sheen of water or iRobot Hard Floor Cleaner to soak into any stuck-on messes.
  • Cycle 2 Scrub and Squeegee-Vacuum: A scrubbing brush spins at over 600 RPM to remove grime while the squeegee vacuum suctions dirty water off the floor.
  • Cycle 3 Squeegee-Finish: Scooba ends with a final squeegee-finish cycle.

Use Scooba 450 anywhere you would use a mop and bucket, including tile, linoleum, vinyl, marble, slate, stone and sealed hardwood. Unlike a mop that reuses dirty water, Scooba uses fresh solution from start to finish.

Easy To Use
Just fill the robot and press CLEAN. Scooba 450 is easy to use from beginning to end:
  • Easy To Fill And Empty: Fill and empty the tank in seconds without fuss.
  • Two Cleaning Cycles: Choose from a full 40-minute cycle or 20-minute cycle for smaller spaces.
  • Cleans With Water Or iRobot Hard Floor Cleaner: Use water or iRobot Hard Floor Cleaner for a deeper clean to wash away bacteria.
  • Avoids Off-Limit Areas: A Virtual Wall® keeps Scooba in rooms you want to clean and out of ones you don't.
  • Compatible with Roomba® Accessories: Scooba 450 is compatible with Roomba Virtual Walls, battery charger and batteries.
  • Talks To You: The information button and audible cues give you insight into robot behaviors.
  • Simple To Clean: Removable cleaning head makes for easy access to brushes and squeegee for a quick clean by hand.

iAdapt® Responsive Navigation Technology
Using iAdapt Technology, the advanced system of software and sensors used in Roomba, Scooba 450 offers complete coverage of every section of floor. iAdapt has been modified for wet floors to optimize the timing between recurrent passes on the floor.

Scooba 450 makes multiple passes over every section of floor to ensure the most thorough coverage possible. Scooba 450 cleans rooms up to 300 square feet in one cleaning cycle.

Scooba 450 cleans dust and dirt right along wall edges. The robot's light-touch bumper system minimizing impact with walls and furniture. The soft-touch bumper has a non-marking strip to prevent damage to furniture and marking of walls and baseboards. Smart, built-in sensors help Scooba avoid rugs, carpets, stairs and other drop-offs.

Comments about NEW! iRobot Scooba® 450:

Just purchased the Roomba 880, Scooba 450, & Braava 380t. Here is my take:

The Scooba 450. It doesn't do well with dog hair and is a real mess to clean. The dog hair also seems to prevent it from suctioning the dirty water back up. Don't even bother to purchase this if you have pet hair. Forget using the large room feature on it. Since it does things in stages, by the time it gets to the suctioning of dirty water, the floor is already dry. If you set it to small room and do small areas at a time using the 20 minute scrub, it does seem to do a passable job. But who has time to do small areas at a time (and only holds a charge to do two small areas)? Very disappointed with the Scooba 450. Maybe a better idea for iRobot would be to have two machines - one dedicated to floor scrubbing a small area using actual scrubbing brushes instead of just the usual vacuum brush) and the other to just suction the dirty water after scrubbing? That should enable both machines to have an hour run time each - enough to do three small sections before having to recharge.

The Roomba 880 is fantastic - a huge improvement over past models I used! It keeps a charge so much longer and is easier to empty. I did find the filter seems to get dirty very fast with all of the pet hair. Since they send a spare filter, I just clean the dirty one the best I can and even spray it with hot water and let dry. I just ordered another Roomba 880 so that I can have two going at the same time (big house). Love the return to dock feature.

The Braava 380t is another great little machine! Make sure to order spare microfiber cloths. I just use mine with water and am amazed at the job it does. It also holds a charge for a long period of time. It does a nice job on my travertine floors and is fantastic on my wood floors. Don't get me wrong - this is not an intensive cleaning job, but if you use it frequently, you won't need to spend time manually cleaning floors very often. I just ordered two more Braava 380ts. Make sure to use the Roomba to get as much dirt and hair up before using the Braava - after all, one microfiber cloth can only hold so much dirt.

Depending on your situation, you will probably need to order additional Virtual Walls.

BOUGHT THIS TO REPLACE MY SCOOBA 380, IT LEAVES NO TRACK MARKS AND CLEANS BETTER THAN THE 380. IT TALKS TO YOU AND TELLS YOU WHAT IT NEEDS. I USED TO BE ABLE TO DO WAY MORE FLOORS WITH 380 THAN I CAN NOW BEFORE IT NEEDS A CHARGE. VERY CONCERNING AS ONCE THE BATTERY DETERIORATES AM I EVEN GOING TO BE ABLE TO CLEAN ONE LARGE FLOOR? WITH THE 380 I COULD VARY THE WATER DEPENDING ON HOW BIG THE ROOM WAS AND ONCE THE WATER WAS FINISHED IT WOULD START DRYING. THIS ONE ONLY HAS TWO CHOICES SO YOU CANNOT DO AS MANY FLOORS AS BEFORE. IT WILL NOT LET YOU TRY TO DO MORE.THE BRUSHES ARE MUCH EASIER TO CLEAN AND MUCH STRONGER PLASTIC, WON'T BREAK AS EASY AT THE OLD SCOOBA. THE NEW CLEANER SMELLS GREAT BUT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PUT IN TWO CAPS OF CLEANER AND THEN FILL TANK. WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED CLEANING 1SML OR 1 LGE FLOOR, THERE IS ALWAYS ABOUT 500ML LEFT IN THE CLEAN TANK, WHICH IS A WASTE. I POUR IT OUT AND USE FOR THE NEXT CLEAN AND TOP UP WITH JUST CLEAN WATER.

Maybe the worst Valentine's gift to my wife, Very poor job picking the water from the polished porcelain floor, leaves drops and streaks everywhere, there was not single tile that was cleaned good. At the end it only has picked up less than half of the water that was used to fill it up. Spent a lot of time researching and there was not enough reviews out there, just those paid comercials everywhere. Felt emberaced, after I thought I was going to make my wife happy it did not work. Don't spend your $600.

Comments about NEW! iRobot Scooba® 450:

                      What a wonderful product!

Basically, this is a great robot. It works as advertised and cleans my floors freeing me up to take care of the rest of my house.

The robot attacks stuck on messes well. iRobt definitely made a great upgrade in the brush assembly used by this robot. The longer bristles and higher RPMs clean much better than the Scoooba 350.

What I have found in using this robot is that super dirty floors can be a bit of a problem for this robot. Here's what I mean, the robot cleans well but where there is a lot of lint or other thick debris on the floor performance suffers a bit, because of the removable filter in the tank. Wet non-dis-solvable messes get stuck on the filter. Once I figured out the filter was there I was able to clean it up and get things moving again. Now I just make it part of my regular cleaning when cleaning Scooba.

In summation, I believe that what might be best is to use a Roomba to vacuum the floor first like the evening before Scooba is run. With a pre-vacuumed floor I would think that Scooba would have very little problem scrubbing the floor. It depends on how dirty your floors are.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my Scooba and would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Comments about NEW! iRobot Scooba® 450:

The Scooba 450 was our first iRobot purchase. We picked it because of its ability to vacuum and scrub in the same cycle. While it does a good job of cleaning as advertised, it's not suited to cleaning large areas, and it's not particularly convenient if it can't clean the area you want it to clean in a single battery charge (which lasts about 45 minutes). The first floor of our house is about 1,300 square feet, and has an open floor plan with hardwood floors. The only way the Scooba would have worked for us is if we had sectioned off 3-4 areas of the floor with the virtual walls, and let it clean each one in succession. Since the battery only holds enough charge for one session on the larger room setting and two on the smaller room setting, we would have had to charge it in between sessions - and that would have eliminated the convenience factor we were hoping for when we bought it. It's not nearly as convenient as a Roomba, which has a longer battery life, charges on its own, and can clean on a preset schedule without supervision. We're exchanging ours for a Roomba 880, which seems to have the convenience factor we were looking for in the first place.

Comments about NEW! iRobot Scooba® 450:

I have two dogs who are confined to the kitchen and backyard while I'm away. I bought the newest Scooba so that I could keep the kitchen floor somewhat clean between major scrubbings, which, from all the reviews I read, is the most that Scooba buyers should expect...it is NOT a scrubbing tool, it is a maintenance tool.

My kitchen is just over 200 sq feet in size, but it is an odd shape with a bar area that projects at a 45 degree angle between the kitchen and dining area. Since the sq footage is well within what is recommended for the large room setting, I hoped using the Scooba would be a 'set it, walk away, come back to a clean kitchen' operation.

Unfortunately, the Scooba does not seem to be able to navigate the bar area correctly and left huge puddles of water/solution. I had to go over the kitchen with a dry mop to pick up all the wet solution. NOT what I bought this for.

So, I split the room up into a 132 sq ft area and a 70 sq ft area with the virtual wall and sent the Scooba on two small room missions. I will say that it did perform better in this configuration, however, it doesn't seem to be able to navigate the kitchen table legs very well. I say this because it seems to spend an inordinate amount of its cycle time going around those legs. The table is the only thing that I don't remove from the area, and I watched the Scooba go around those legs at least 6 times each, but only went over other areas twice. I'm going to try moving the table to a different area of the room...it is too large to move it completely out of the kitchen.

I've only had it for a few days and have used it each day now. I'm going to keep trying different tactics, including pre-sweeping the area.

So I'm less than ecstatic over this purchase...it is a passable replacement for damp mopping every day to keep some semblance of clean in the kitchen...but it is very expensive for just a passable replacement. If I'm not happier in two weeks, I'll probably return it. I had higher hopes...

You do need to put some time in to keeping Scooba clean but its quiet, charges quickly and that translates to using it more often. Come home to clean floors or even use it night (its quiet enough). I recommend using a separate vacuum cleaner first (Roomba ?) and using a sieve or similar when draining the dirty water to stop you clogging your waste pipes. A GREAT time saver and a cleaner home !

I love the new Scooba. It works really well. I have laminate and tile floors, and it mops and dries both types perfectly. I like that I can set it up to run before I go out and come home to a clean floor. My floors now get mopped much more frequently than they did before.
It took me a little while to get used to the noise, since the robot sounds more like a vacuum than a hand mop (which of course is nearly silent), but once I adjusted to that idea, it doesn't both me at all, even if I'm in the same room.
I also got a charging and drying stand and I LOVE it! It elevates the Scooba so it's not dripping on the floor when it's done, and it takes up less space standing vertically than with the regular charger. The stand also looks sleek and lets me highlight my robot instead of sliding it under a corner cabinet to charge.

Comments about NEW! iRobot Scooba® 450:

Was so excited at the announcement of the new Scooba. Had read all the issues on the old one. Have about 1000 sq.ft. of tile flr. Used the virtual walls from my Roomba (great plus) and sectioned the areas off as suggested. It works so good. The squeegee does not work perfect on the tile flr but I am not sure you will get one that will. I am very satisfied with the performance. You cannot stop it in the middle of a cycle. Once I realized this then I got better results from ERMA. I washed all the tile. Some areas have been washed several times. This is a great use after dinner to wash in front of stove and sink. So highly recommend this. Makes the off-white tile actually likeable now. Worth the "investment".
