Comments about iRobot Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery:
I have two (2) Roombas and a Scooba that sit idly in their boxes because their batteries (yes, ALL of them) are deceased. When you pay as much as we do for a vacuum (we could have bought a Dyson!) you would expect it to last longer. Roombas and Scoobas are innovative yet like almost every product out there ... they have their weak link, in this case the battery.
Irobot poweres their robots using old (sometimes ancient) battery techology that limits the life of the product. When the battery dies in 1-2 years what good is the vacuum without it? Who, after spending hundreds on what is now a doorstop wants to pay $70 for a battery that will (again) fail and make their robot inoperable?
There has got to be a better way ...

Comments about iRobot Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery:
At first I loved my roomba and raved to everyone about it. Then the battery acted up, I called for assistance and it worked for a short time. When the battery died I was going to buy a new one, but the price was so costly and I just couldn't afford to keep feeding my roomba new batteries. It now sits on the shelf while I keep hoping the price of the battery is reduced. With so many complaints, why hasn't the company tried to solve this problem for so many dissatisfied customers that would like to see theirs roombas work again.

Comments about iRobot Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery:
I liked it because it cleaned and I just sat around or did another chore but now the battery is dying and I see a replacement is very expensive. After reading the poor reviews I doubt if I buy a new battery....Well, sadly another irobot in the garage and then to the trash or yard sale.

There is no way I'm paying more than $60 for a battery to die within a year.
I got a MUCH better battery from here:

Comments about iRobot Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery:
I had used the Roomba happily for several months when the battery died while plugged in, awaiting its next use. I had also purchased some extra items to go with it and now will never use it again as the battery is far too expensive for the short life the battery seems to have.

Comments about iRobot Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery:
Because of this battery design, I will never buy another Roomba again. I've gone through two expensive batteries, each lasting less than nine months. The roomba has been a dead 'bot for over a year and is now in a garage sale box in the basement. What's even more frustrating is that I actually bought another one as a gift, which also failed similarly and has also proven to be very frustrating for the owner.
I'm constantly bombarded with targeted online advertising, which is what directed me here to vent my disappointment. Instead of the barrage of online banners, It would be nice if this company would make an effort to reach out to the large group of vocal, disappointed customers who bought this expensive defective product. You have my info, and I've called your customer service center about this. So why not attempt to fix the goodwill that you've lost?

Comments about iRobot Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery:
Regretably, I own two Roombas and a Scooba. Please don't ask me why. Maybe I'll put them in a yard sale for cheap. Then again probably not. In good conscience I don't think I could stick an unsuspecting buyer with the expense of constantly replacing these expensive and short lived batteries. I have five dead ones if anyone is interested!
This is a really sad situation because other than the lousy battery life, the units serve thier intended purpose fairly well. The frequent battery replacement negates any advantage of ownership and is a deal breaker for me.
