I bought this yesterday, and am most impressed. While not as thorough as a "manual" cleaning, it is pretty close (I'd say, 90%), and so easy that you can easily clean daily (so really, that 10% that got missed today will likely get cleaned tomorrow). That is the real magic--the ability to clean so frequently more than makes up for any shortcomings.
My only complaints are the things that compromise this--things that make daily cleaning not-so-automatic: the roomba works best when it's cleaning only one or maybe two adjoining rooms at a time. This is accomplished by shutting doors to contain it within an area, or using "virtual walls". The latter are a pain because you probably don't want to leave the little "virtual wall" pylons out all the time (not horribly obtrusive, but really just another bit of clutter, not real decor masterpieces), and unless you invest in a number of them, you will have to move them from spot to spot to control each stage of cleaning. Or you do as I do (this is really what's easiest): shut the door, leave roomba in there until it's done, then open the door and move onto the next room. While not impossible, but not really so "set it and forget it" automatic. You can't just turn it on, leave the house, and come home to a clean house at the end of the day. (You really end up cleaning one or two rooms a day this way--still not bad, mind you.)
And, still better than cleaning yourself. And effective--I thought I had a clean house, then did one roomba pass in one large room, emptied the dust bin, and, well, wow. Never thought I owned that much dust! I might start a museum. Or insulate my walls with it all.

Christine, possessed by supernatural forces in a way that allows us to keep our house clean from dogs, cats and everyday living. Much like the car from the Stephen King movie, Christine is eager to get the job done and clean up after herself. The only issue I have so far with Christine is length of time I watch her in action, much like the Kramer painting....she's is a loathsome, offensive brute, and yet I can't look away.

I live in an old farm house with my husband stepdaughter and a dog that sheds nonstop. We have a big garden every year and the dirt piles up on the floors. I have wanted a Roomba for years and this year my husband got me one for our anniversary. I am soooo happy! I could never get the floors clean enough to walk around barefoot and now, thanks to "Rosie" I can! She gets the floors clean without pushing the furniture out of the way. Best of all, I can do other housework while the floors are being cleaned!

Very simple to use, picks up animal fur very well. Pricey, but worth it!
Even goes over rugs, not for bathroom rubs, they can get stuck.
Does not do a deep enough cleaning for me, I use it every day and still mop and vac on weekend.

I cannot believe that I waited so long to buy one! With two short hair dogs at home, I never knew how much they could shed. It was everywhere-the floor, the rugs and carpets, the sofa. I was slowly going insane trying to keep it all clean. Once I got it home, I literally opened the box and charged it which only took a half hour. We three (yes the dogs too) watched it makes it way around the house. HEAVEN. It was so clean and so pet hair free I danced a jig!

I got my roomba for Xmas and I love it so much!! we have a toddler and 2 long hair cats and our carpet is short Buber and hard to vacuum, we have tried all vacuums even a kirby and this little roomba beat them all and the best part I dont have to push it!!!! It picks up sooo much stuff its crazy I can not believe how much cat hair it can pick up off the floor!!!
The one thing I dont like is how loud it is however most normal vacuums are louder so its not that bad. I am just glad I dont have to physically vacuum I can spend my time doing something else :)

I'm a restaurant manager who works 60 hours a week. Once I'm behind on house cleaning I tend to give up and only do things that require my immediate attention. This genius creation has changed my life. Now I don't feel so behind and I can actually enjoy my free time when I finally get it.
I have a very small house with cats and just like everyone else I was AMAZED at how much dirt, fur, and hair that this thing picks up. It is astounding! I had no idea how dirty my house actually was.
I prefer to move easily picked up items like end tables and small chairs to that Iona has free reign. She is very sensitive to curtains and cat toys and I rarely have any problems with her getting hung up on anything but it does help to pick up the toys first.
The maintenance required is actually a pleasure. I don't mind the time spent cleaning her wheels and brushes because the makers have made it very simple to do so.
One thing you should note:
The three pronged rotating brush will get hair around the central prong located inside the rotating mechanism. all you have to do to fix this is remove the screw and take out the hair. I had to figure that one out on my own but was actually proud of myself when it worked!
Seriously. This is so worth it. Mom got this model for me after reading these reviews. The reviews for the 700 series were not so reassuring. Honestly, sometimes I think companies try to update perfection in order to maintain higher prices. They need to stop trying to fix what isn't broken.
Note: I've only had Iona for 2 months. If she continues to work so successfully I will always own one.
