Roomba uses a patented 3-stage cleaning process to vacuum carpets, hardwood, tile and linoleum floors on its own, automatically adjusting to different floor surfaces. Roomba 790's cleaning features include:
- Advanced Cleaning Head: Designed with pet owners in mind, the cleaning head provides superior performance for picking up pet hair, dirt, dust and allergens

Roomba provides comprehensive cleaning coverage - vacuuming under and around furniture and along baseboards. iAdapt® Responsive Cleaning Technology monitors the cleaning environment more than 60 times per second, using multiple sensors (like cliff detection) and dozens of behaviors (including wall following) to clean your home. Roomba 790 maximizes coverage using:
- Molded Soft-Touch Bumper: Cushions the contact made between Roomba and walls, furniture and other objects

Roomba cleans hard floors very well except for dark floor mats or dark carpet (known issue, & many folks tape the sensors)

This is my second roomba. The first was a 500 series that did a pretty good job. I bought this one because of the wireless feature and its ability to sweep up cat hair. I had this one and the old one working together to clean the house. One would do the Living room and the kitchen and the other would do the bedrooms. Now I have the 790 doing the whole house. I like here kitty kitty due to the fact that it seems smarter than the older one and the bin is bigger. The wireless feature helps due to the fact I have a lower back injury and I do not have to bend over to push the go button.

My sister-in-law had a Roomba when we visited her in Washington State recently. It rains a lot there and it seems like you are always tracking in debris from grass and leaves with your shoes. She also has a cat and a dog but I noticed her floors were immaculate. I commented about how hard she must work to keep her floors so clean and she showed me her Roomba. We were there 10 days and she has it set to auto-run during the day while she is at work. We were out and about so I did not witness the Roomba working but the floors looked fantastic each and every day when we returned. I joked that I was taking the Roomba on the plane home with me. I ordered a Roomba 770 as soon as I got home and she just came in today. She has been so busy cleaning my floors and I am thrilled with my purchase. My dog and 2 cats are skeptical about the busy little robot running around the house but they have followed it for over an hour. My grandson also finds it fascinating and we have had several sessions of watching her work. I am thrilled with my purchase...I love my house to be beautifully clean but seem to be allergic to cleaning floors (haha) so this is a dream come true for my household.

I love a clean home, but seems like vacuuming gets left till the last thing. Although I've not programmed Bob yet, I have to admit I'm impressed at how he goes and goes, up and over rug fringe, under furniture and does a great job on hardwood and baseboards! I thought it was supposed to shut off when the dirt bin's dirty, but it hasn't. I'll have to check into that.

Love the room-to-room cleaning; allows my dogs to relocate as it cleans each room. Wireless controller really is not needed since I schedule it to clean daily. Bin is not as large as my older Roomba (Hazel) but I usually empty daily anyway. Still gets hung up on speaker wires and the reverse feature to back away from wires is marginally successful. It is best to just get the wires up. Overall, love the device but wish I'd spent $100 less and got the 780 without the wireless. Love the lighthouses - turn on/off automatically.

I use the my droid every other day it cleans very well and even though it's not big like an upright it vaccums very well. Unfortunatally the battery doesn't last long enough. Cords get stuck in it sometimes. I think the robot is a great time saver for anyone.

It's sad to see investment in a big proprietary remote when everyone is developing smart phone apps and have been for a while. Like I'm going to carry around this additional remote when I could just use my phone like I do for every other piece of home automation.
Hopefully R&D goes into things like a bigger dust bin, better cleaning algorithms, etc. vs. stupid 90s technology.
Get the 780 because it's the only way to get reliable room to zoom navigation. You should set it up on a schedule 1x and the rest is automated so a remote is not very useful anyway.
