Read a reviews that this fits all 500-700 series, and it does.... A great replacement, based on design. Just replaced the old unit, as, after a while, cleaning all the hair and debris out of the brush cage gear housing becomes tedious and problematic. So far, this is working great. Thanks Roomba for a design change, I have awaited for a long, long time.

Well I've had this head unit since August 2012 in my 500 series roomba. To date we have had none of the previous issues that plagued the green units. The floor is cleaner and I'm happy to say I think the unit will easily outlast every green unit purchased COMBINED! As I was reading the reviews I got a chuckle to see that Irobot NOW recommends this unit for the 500 & 600 series robots. I guess they finally unloaded all those green units! Get this motor and the aero bin your roomba will be be as good as the 700 at cleaning.

I read the negative reviews about the green cleaning head for the 500 models, and that this one would work. The reviews are correct, this fits in my 500 series Roomba perfectly, and works quite well. The old cleaning head kept getting its gears jammed by dog hair, and ultimately melted. I can't say much yet for the wear on this, but it is much more quiet than the old cleaning head, so that's a good start.

The cleaner head on my 560 died due to over use (5 cats). I was going to get a replacement for it until I saw the reviews. People were unhappy with the one for the 500 series and recommended the replacement head for the 700 series. Even though the website says the replacement is for the 700 series only that is not true, it fit my 560 perfectly! Installed it yesterday and the little robot is as good as new, if not better!

I replace this about every four to five months, just after the 90 days warranty for product, unbelievable.

I used this to replace the original green gear box on my Roomba 600 series. I had replaced three prior gear boxes that had melted/abraded from hair in the brushes despite the fact that I clean the brushes every single time I use roomba.

This non-standard replacement part worked perfectly. My Roomba acts exactly as I always wanted it to. It picks up better. Hair does not wrap around the spindles, putting torquing pressure on the gears and causing undue abrasian. It needs to be checked every run, but it doesn't need to be opened, cleaned, and de-haired every time because this unit is designed with a covering cap that protects the end, minimizing hair collection. I have not yet opened up the gear box, but other internet sources show that it doesn't collect dust and hair and crud the way the original green box does. This crud collection is the second factor that causes damage to the gears and gear assembly, requiring replacement.

I highly recommend replacing green gear boxes with this one. You will be SO much happier.

Vastly improved design. Gear box is removable. Hair fouling vastly reduced or eliminated. After a battery replacement (more than a year) still some debri clogged gears and gear faces but no hair. Highly recommend replace 600/500 series with this one.

Just like the other reviewers said....it works on the 500 series. But much better. My old gears kept clogging up with hair and gunk. I was periodically having to take apart the entire thing and clean out the gears. It finally quit working all together and cleaning it out no longer worked. I think the hair and gunk got in there heated up and warped things. But because of the other reviews I took the chance that the 700 series cleaning head would fit even against the advice of iRobot's customer service. It fits perfect, the gears are sealed, so no dirt can get into them and it's quieter than the original.
Thanks for the reviews! Saved my Roomba. I didn't relish buying a new but the same old gear design for the 500's.

As previous reviewer states- this is THE replacement cleaning head to get even for your 500 series. Seems quieter and more efficient. Easy install. This with the new bin made my Roomba better than new.
