iRobot Roomba® 770 Full Specifications

Let the robot do the dirty work.
Roomba uses a patented 3-stage cleaning process to vacuum your carpets, hardwood, tile and linoleum floors on its own, automatically adjusting to different floor surfaces as it moves through your home. Roomba 770's cleaning features include:

  • Advanced Cleaning Head: Designed with pet owners in mind, the new cleaning head provides superior performance for picking up pet hair, dirt, dust, allergens and more
  • AeroVac™ Series 2 Bin: Employs a powerful vacuum to vigorously pull debris and hair off brushes into the bin. The distributed air collection and clog-resistant design of the AeroVac Series 2 Bin optimizes vacuum effectiveness and dirt and hair packing efficiency.
  • Dual HEPA Air Filters: Capture dust particles as fine as 0.3 microns, limiting the recirculation of fine particles and leaving fresher, healthier air behind

Clean under the bed and other hard-to-reach areas.
Roomba provides comprehensive cleaning coverage – vacuuming in tight spots, under and around furniture and along baseboards. Roomba 770 features:
  • Persistent Pass Cleaning Method: Employs a back and forth cleaning pattern to apply elbow grease in areas where it senses excessive dirt

Every home is different.
Roomba maximizes cleaning by adapting to your unique household environment. iAdapt Technology monitors the cleaning environment more than 60 times per second, using multiple sensors (like cliff detection) and dozens of behaviors (including wall following) to clean your home. Just like you, it spends more time cleaning the dirtiest areas of your floor, making sure you get the cleanest possible results. Roomba 770 adapts to your home using:
  • Molded Soft-Touch Bumper: Cushions the contact made between Roomba's bumper and walls, furniture and other objects, protecting household items while it cleans
  • Dirt Detect Series 2: Uses optical and acoustic sensors to find dirt and debris, performing concentrated cleaning in the dirtiest areas and ensuring the whole floor is clean

Less work for you.
Roomba knows which areas to clean – and those to avoid. Auto Virtual Wall® barriers emit an infrared beam that Roomba won't cross, keeping the robot in the rooms you want to clean and out of the ones you don't. Plus, Roomba charges itself, going back to its Home Base® to dock and recharge between cleanings. More 770 convenience features include:
  • Extended-Life Power Management: Uses sophisticated power management software to deliver up to 50% longer battery life than previous Roomba generations, ensuring hundreds of cleaning cycles under proper use

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

Age 65 and disabled. This is my first robot of any kind. Making a choice of manufacturer and model was very difficult. I researched robot vacuums for 10 days deciding on IRobot Rumba. I made the final model selection at the store, when my purchase was done, the 770 came with me.

U-tube was a great help on all manufacturer models. I bought Rumba because I think it will work the best in my home. I do not have plenty of open spaces like some of the video's shown. I have lots of stuff in every room, you know chairs, clothes baskets, furniture and things.

This is day 3 with the rumba and everything is great. Very easy open, setup, and use. The included CD is very good and the op manual is on line.

Did not pre-vacuum, just started it up and let her go. The random tracking works very good in my home environment, the virtual walls are great and it is very quiet; yes I was watching television with it running all around me.

I have 2 inside dogs that shed and Rumba found plenty of fur and grime filling the dirt bin. Rumba did great, no problems at all. I now have 5 rooms cleaned and 2 more to go. I performed a through machine clean up between each room and this was no problem at all. Each room took about 25 minutes to vacuum, no problem for Rumba. I let it run this morning until it needed to recharge, Rumba vacuumed continually for 1 hour, found the dock and recharged.

So far I can say Roomba 770 is great for me. I called my daughter this morning and told her how hard I worked vacuuming, "LOL". I sat in my recliner and Rumba did what is was supposed to do. It docked itself and recharged for 2 hours and was ready to go. I used the remote to call
rumba over to me and I cleaned her up empting into a trash bin that sits next to me. I pressed the dock button, she went back to the dock and is ready to go again.

Thanks IRobot Rumba

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

Today was Rosie's first run, she took about an hour to do the whole first story of my house (aprox 800sq) and she did great! I own a Golden retriever and was sick of always having the vacuum out laying around due to such frequent vacuuming so I decided to give the iRobot a shot. Even though we vacuumed yesterday morning Rosie still managed to fill her bin full and had no trouble with the long dog hair. She did not get stuck anywhere and maneuvered herself in and out of every room and back to her dock when she was done.

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

I have patiently waited for years for this product to evolve before purchasing and after spending many hours reading other consumers reports, I decided it was finally time. I chose the Roomba 770 after reading others comments about all brands and models. I seen many still functioning 3-4 year old roombas on auction sites, and if I get 3-4 years life out of this machine I will be a very happy camper.
My house has a sunken living room and I was not sure if this product would work in the raised areas. I am very pleased to announce that it skirts right along the edge of my 6 inch raised kitchen hardwood and does not fall off =)
I took it right out of the box and took the paper out of the debris bin, turned it on and sent her off on her merry way.. I have two rottweilers who shed everywhere and bring in more dirt than you can imagine, but within minutes my kitchen floor felt clean to my bare feet =) Pretty sure this little lady is gonna keep my house cleaner than I ever could!
I seen many mentions of noisiness but I do not find it to be bothersome in the least. It isn't much louder than my dishwasher and my dishwasher was chosen due to it being one of the most silent ones on the market.

I had been coveting a Roomba for several years as I had heard nothing but praises. When we got hardwood floors throughout I convinced my husband NOW was the time to take the Roomba plunge. at first I was very disappointed! It was missing alot of dog hair around the edges of area rugs and in certain areas. By trial and error I have discovered the answers for us at least. 1) Schedule it to run EVERYday if you have a pet(s). 2) Don't overwhelm it by defining too large an area.We blocked the sunroom and left the kitchen, dining area, living room and breakfast area.By the way I am happy to clean the bin daily to get the results! (Very little white dog hair on my hardwood floors)

1 dog and 1 cat; for the 1st month I schedule Rosie to start at 10am everyday for a good cleaning, next month I will have her clean every other day for normal maintenance. She takes care of the entire house, about once a week she gets stuck under low desk. with ease I empty the container everyday (10 seconds) and the brushes every 4-5 days (3-5 minutes). We are happy with Rosie!

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

I have a yellow lab that sheds A LOT and is my reason for wanting the robot. I have all hardwood floors.

I bought the 770 from one store (large national chain electronics store)and out of the box it didn't work -- only went around in circles. Returned that and purchased from another store (had 20% off coupon).

The second one worked and I fell in love with it, was raving about it to everyone for those first two weeks BUT then it stopped sucking up all the dog hair completely and then quickly just stopped picking up much of anything at all.

Customer service with Irobot has been very good, I will say that. This last one they were going to send me a replacement module but since I only owned it for two weeks, it didn't make sense to me to be replacing parts and waiting up to 10 days for Standard UPS shipment.

I just returned this one (#2) today and did the first run with the new one (#3) and I am disappointed! it did OK...BUT...it didn't pick up all the hair in the same way that the last one started to malfunction. It left quite a bit of my yellow lab's hair behind. I would understand if it missed a patch here and there, but this is all over, just not doing a complete job, as if someone sprinkled dog hair evenly across the floor.

Is anyone else having this problem? I let it run a second cycle back to back (after charging fully). It did better in 2 of the 3 rooms. One room looks the same. (this dog sheds so much and it's been 3 days since the last Roomba stopped working and since I've vacuumed.) Am hoping that it's just because there was so much hair, although it didn't indicate that the bin was "full" after this 2nd run,

I've read that other reviews that say it works great for animal hair...am I just jinxed and getting duds? During one call with customer service, the rep suggested getting the 780 with lighthouses so that it would clean one room completely, saying that it might be just missing that the room (but it's not missing it completely, it does the three areas). Any suggestions?

I'll try 3rd run with it as soon as recharges...

I really want to come back here and change my rating later...I WANT this to work! Still hopeful.

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

A few months ago, my wife had back and neck surgery. The doctor told her that she had to limit her activites and she couldn't vacuum or sweep along with a ton of other limitation. So she told me that I needed to start doing these chores every day, to keep up with all dirt and dog hair that accumulate. I went into panic mode, because my schedule was pretty full with every other task I was having to take on, while she was recovering. So I ran to the store and bought the Roomba 770. Best money I ever spent. I'm amazed at how much dirt and dog hair it picks up everyday. Now, it does get caught up on some small rugs and cords. Just Roomba proof the space. It would take me 30 minutes a day to do the job my Roomba does. So in the last 90 days since I have owned it, I've saved 45 man hours of labor and my wife is happy with the results. If you can afford it, it's money well spent. Of course, now my mother in law has bought one too

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

We have been using our 770 for just over a month now, and are generally happy with the way it cleans. The only problem with cleaning is that it has a very hard time going from hard surface floors to rugs. We have a fairly thick oriental carpet on the wood floor in our dining room which it rarely can climb onto, and even thinner area rugs sometimes stop it. Luckily the pet hair problem is a thing of the past.

Maintenance has been a greater chore than I anticipated. The bin is small and needs to be emptied after every other use, and the hair from our pets requires frequent cleaning of the brushes. I purposely marked quiet operation as both a pro and a con. I feel that it is actually very quiet for a vacuum cleaner....as long as you keep the rear caster wheel free from pet hair. When too much hair gets wrapped around it, it starts to squeak and the noise becomes much more objectionable. To all the users complaining of noise, try pulling it out and cleaning it. That leads up to probably the biggest problem with the machine. That wheel is not designed to be easily removed and cleaned. I anticipate that the plastic housing holding the wheel will not survive very long. I hope that iRobot notices this issue and changes the design somewhat. It would not be a hard fix.

Despite the complaints, we are overall quite pleased with the 770.

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

I love this robot. I have an attrium ranch approx 2000 sq ft of hardwood floors, with one black lab and one long hair tabby cat and a husband. My husband and I both work full-time jobs. I needed to vacuum daily. I researched the different roombas and other brands for about a year, but was still skeptical when I bought this; I shouldn't have been...it works like a dream. I still run Rosie daily, but I'm not having to come home from a long day at work and push and pull a vaccum around the house. Pros: She will clean under the bed (she isn't scared) and under furniture. She can figure her way out of tight places and jams. And she can complete the large area of the house (kitchen, harth room, breakfast room, great room, dining room, laundry room, butlers pantry) ALL on a single charge. Cons: She doesn't do carpet as well as hardwoods. I have area rugs and she leaves pet hair at the edges as she transitions from rug to hardwood. She is a bit too noisy to run and watch TV at the same time. She doesn't do stairs, or the dusting, or cleans toilets, tub/showers, or windows!

Comments about iRobot Roomba 770 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

Recently got dark cherry floors and they show everything. It was difficult to keep up with dust, cat hair, etc...that the sunlight seemed to show constantly on these could be pretty floors. After the constant battle cleaning the floors we got a 770 iRobot. He is perfect and we like our floors again. Like with anything he is learning our home. For those thinking he is missing spots, give him a chance. Just when you think he'll miss a spot he'll catch it before he finishes that area. Yes he has gotten hooked on decorative tables but we watched him rotate himself until he was free. It was interesting watching his mind figure out what to do and we let him do his thing. The worst that could happen was he would wear out his battery, but oh no it never came close to that. He would spin and turn in seconds and figure it out. We didn't panic and nor did he. We found by adding felt pads to the feet of these items it raised them just enough that he now cleans under them without event. He cleans under kick pleated uph skirt chairs, sofas and under the beds. Wow! These are areas that would have been a pain to clean in the past and now he does it with no effort. A few say his dirt storage bin is a little small. Not so, unless you start out with a lot of lint and dust maybe under beds, etc...That would fill it up fast. We clean, excuse me "he" cleans almost daily and unless something out of the normal happens you will only be checking it every other day. I have long hair and I find it gets wrapped around his beater bar roller after doing my bathroom and bedroom. I turn him over pull it off the beater bar and we are ready to go. It doesn't fill up the bin it's just something that gets on the roller. I do that after those rooms, but it wouldn't stop the cleaning process. No big deal!! He doesn't hurt furniture or make marks on wide white base boards. If you are considering one...go for it. No regrets. Note 770 cleans from room to room without assistance which means the next model is $100 more for doing away with the buttons on the remote. If you set the timer on the system for auto cleaning you will not use the remote very often. If the new remote has a direct command for spot and dock in addition to the directional ones it may be worth the extra. Note even the 770 without a seperate button control you can lead the unit back to the docking system.
